a/n; i wasn't sure if you wanted to keep her a nurse this time, so i kept it vague. i too love these characters, they're a perfect blend of funny and insane. very fun to write. thank you for requesting. <3

he finds you adorable, to be honest. especially if you tend to fiddle with your thumbs, the hem of your shirt/dress, or stumble over your words. he finds it cute, but amusing. won't make fun of you for it though.

he also finds it admirable how gentle you can be. in a base full of men who are rough around the edges at best, he can appreciate how careful and soft you are. especially when it comes to you being in his area of work. you're probably the only one he really trusts around his machines because of how gentle you are. he knows you wouldn't break anything on purpose.

admittedly, he was a little weary of you in the beginning. in two different ways.

first of all, you were just so quiet and shy, he was afraid of scaring you off. you were like a little doe. skittish, ready to drop everything and scatter at the drop of a hat. he wasn't sure what to say to assure you he wasn't a threat.

second of all, he wasn't sure if this whole "shy" thing was all an act or not. engineer puts up his own gentle front to hide darker secrets underneath, and he wasn't sure if you were doing the same. are you a doe, or a snake in his boot?

he didn't treat you any differently because of these suspicions though! it was like a trial for him. the more time he spent getting to know you, the more time he got to see how genuine you were.

turns out, your personality is very genuine. and he finds you so, so cute. especially as you two grow closer. the way you inch closer to him when too many people are around, or how you hide behind him when you feel skittish. the fact you trust him that much, trust him to protect you like that, makes him feel all warm and mushy inside.

he is also very protective of you, i'd say. after all, you were a shy, gentle creature in a base full of people whose personalities ranged from slightly unhinged to criminally insane. you were basically thrown to the sharks when you were hired here. he slightly pities you for this.

unlike medic, he would try his best to court you as normally as possible. ask you out to dinner, build you little shiny trinkets as gifts, maybe even give you flowers. he doesn't want to scare you off, so it's a slow build up of things.

he's a gentleman by default, but with you, it multiplies by tenfold. opening doors for you, scooching out your seat for you. it's little things, but they're noticeable.

he calls you the sweetest nicknames. darlin', sweetheart, sweetpea, honeybee, bright-eyes, peaches, pumpkin. the list goes on and on, he honestly has so many things he calls you. you have a little bit of a hard time keeping track of them.

he also occasionally calls you pet names based off of animals you remind him of. little doe, fawn, etc. he doesn't really use these pet names often, but i imagine they're what reminds him of you the most.

a/n; sure thing, darling. this does sound really cute. <3 thank you for requesting, sorry for the wait.

contains; fluff. soldier being unhinged but what is new. reader is a large contrast from soldier; think of belle from beauty and the beast but slightly softer. gender neutral reader. this is all just ramble, i'll be real with you.

i imagine it either takes soldier a long time to notice you, or no time at all. it all really depends on how you catch his attention. when you eventually do, however, i wish you luck. because soldier will have a hard time leaving you alone.

wouldn't it be funny if you caught his attention because you were being cute and feeding his raccoons. anyways.

when soldier crushes on someone, he crushes HARD. he literally falls in love with you so fast and easily. his idea of love is a little simplistic, but it's the idea that counts, i suppose.

he appreciates how sweet and kind you are, mostly because it's towards him. he adores how soft you can be towards him. he hasn't really had anyone be so thoughtful for him before, so to have that is something that makes him melt pretty fast.

he does get a little jealous if you act the same way towards anyone else, though. especially if it's any other merc. don't worry, though, he remedies this through simply just picking you up and taking you somewhere else. you were saying how nice someone looked today? well now you guys have to do something else! together! alone!

is so soft for you. tries his best to keep his words kind, just like how you are towards him. though most of his compliments and dialogue consists of america, he is trying his best.

asks if you can sing him the country's national anthem. or if you can read him the constitution. he adores your voice and hearing the words come from your mouth makes him feel all giddy inside. if you refuse, though, he won't be upset over it.

not only does he adore your voice, but he loves your touch, too. you are literally so soft. your hands, your hugs, your kisses, your hair? it's all so soft and soothing to feel. he often asks you for physical affection simply to enjoy these aspects of you, but again, he won't be upset if you reject this.

he is very respectful of your boundaries. so much so, if anyone else were to violate them, he'd make them recite them while doing some type of physical exercise.

The reader is smiling. All the time. They always have some form of smile on there face, even if they just witnesses something horrible.

i feel like your...optimism, let's call it, is what attracts them to you in the first place. even as blood and gore splatter in front of you, as shrill screams fill the air, you always seem to be as chirpy and positive as ever.

admittedly, your mannerisms and personality probably flew right over soldier's head at first. he's oddly oblivious when it comes to things like that. it takes him time for him to pay attention to you as a person entirely, but eventually, he does. his appreciation is a little simple, finding you to be a very brave american citizen, whose smile just so happens to be very pretty and constant. matches your shimmering smile tenfold, especially as something horrible is happening.

your shining personality happens to catch zhanna's attention fairly quickly, however. she found it very admirable how positive and cheerful you could be no matter the situation. and even despite your bright personality, you weren't too talkative, nor were you a crybaby. you didn't need to be coddled, and she appreciated that.

it wasn't long before soldier and zhanna started to have discussions about you, about how they would pursue and woo you, and how they wanted you to be an addition to their relationship.

how they court you is actually very straightforward. they are both very blunt, honest people, and the thought of dancing around the bush is just silly to them. not to mention they are both basically each other's cheerleaders. if one has a chaotic thought, the other will suggest something even more batshit crazy and it just carries on from there.

so it's very easy they probably asked you out in a very chaotic way. probably asked if you wanted to go kick some maggot ass and you said hell yeah and they just claimed you as their partner from there on. not that you were complaining.

how it all came to be aside, i do feel like they genuinely adore you. you're their little sunflower, and they would die for you in a heartbeat. would also kill someone for you if you asked.

the way your smile glows so brightly makes them so warm and fuzzy inside. it's such a constant thing to them now, that if they didn't see you that day - say because of a mission or because you hadn't come out your quarters yet - they'd feel so deflated. of course, they adore each other's smiles, but there's just something about yours that makes them feel so lovely and cozy inside.

missions are basically dates where you all just kick ass. <3

but there are other things too that don't include violence. like snuggling up on the coach or the bed and watching movies while eating dinner and/or snacks.

or going out to drink during the weekend. the best times are when none of you remember what happened the night prior. <3

you are spoiled rotten by scout. even if you weren't anything like him, you're his princess and whatever you ask for you get.

no matter what you do this man is shedding a proud fatherly tear.

he loves when you pick up his accent and vocabulary. the moment you say a little "doink!" or "bonk!" or anything of the sort everyone else is groaning in agony while he feels like he can run leaps and bounds across base.

you two make quite the iconic duo, though. he's taught you everything he thinks you need to know.

how to swing a bat? check. how to throw a punch? yep! how to shoot a gun? roger that.

even when he's long done with being a merc, he teaches you these things. he's very protective of you, and doesn't want anything happening to you. he wants to be sure you can take care of yourself.

he wants to be the best father he can be. he didn't grow up with his own father, and he doesn't want to give his own kid the same experience. wondering where he is, who he could be, why he wasn't there. he doesn't want those thoughts in your head.

he tries his hardest to be a good dad, but he gets really scared about it sometimes. the thought, the idea of raising an entire person, that the littlest thing could change your personality, your mindset.

he doesn't usually stop and think like this. his brain is sometimes too fast to think about others, or how his words may affect them.

but you're his entire daughter, and sometimes having an entire kid can change up your life, y'know?

tries so hard that he even attempts to cook for you. he sucks at it, is absolute garbage at it, in fact. you two often order takeout or something.

you, being his kid, with his genetics, with his exact personality, probably suck at cooking too. i'm sorry it's just how the cookie crumbles.

you can only hope your other parent is still in the picture and can cook decently. because you two are a disaster, especially together. i pray for whoever is still with scout at this point.

either way, though, scout absolutely adores you. he would give up the entire world for you. he often calls you his little mini-me.
