Louis has had a strict Christian upbringing that he never realized he resented until he meets Harry Styles, a boy who lives to rebel and doesn’t give a damn what anyone else thinks. But the better he gets to know Harry, the more he begins to realize that maybe Harry does care. And maybe “the children who God forgot” are closer to God than the devout will ever be.

I don’t know if you get to choose who you fall in love with, who ends up taking a little piece of your heart with them when they leave. If someone had asked me, I don’t think I would have chosen Harry Styles, and I don’t know if he’d have chosen me. But standing here, looking back through the crystal clear lens of hindsight, I like my choices.

Harry’s life is pure Hell. He seems to lose everyone important to him in his life, leaving him with nothing but an alcoholic mother, and he’s severely bullied at school. Things reach a certain point, and Harry is forced to move in with his mother’s friend for a while, only to find that her son is his biggest bully of all.
