CSD 3350

I have to say... I'm kind of relieved this is the last time I'll be blogging for this class! The blogs weren't that bad to keep up with at the beginning of the semester, but towards the end it seemed like such a little thing that it's a wonder I only missed a week's worth! This week has been super stressful for me since everything seems to be due in the next few days... and I waited until the very last minute to start anything. For the past few weeks all I could think about was TV and food and wasting time, so now I'm cursing myself for it! If I can make it to Friday morning, I can breathe easy... Finals week will be nothing in comparison to this week! (At least Britney released her new album so I can have dance party and cookie dough breaks)

At this point in the semester, when everything seems to be due and I should be extremely stressed out, I just don't seem to care. I was planning on writing a paper for another class in between my 9:30 and 12:30 classes this morning, but I ended up painting my nails and watching NCIS. Then I realized that the blog posts that I had done earlier this morning from my phone didn't upload, so now I'm rushing to do them all before I head to class! I honestly don't want to go back to Greensboro for winter break, but I'm very ready for the schoolwork to end... so I can stop forgetting about doing it.

I studied French for 8 years, so I guess you could say I'm proficient in the language. I can understand, speak and write relatively well, so I would love more practice in French! (Plus I might've flipped out when I heard a French man speaking French to his little babies in Target, but the little toddlers were speaking back too and it was too cute!) But I took a Spanish class last year and I loved that language too! I really want to take more Spanish classes, but I figured out after that semester that taking any more would put me behind in my plan to graduate a semester early. Bummer! At this point, is it wise to just move to Spain and figure it out from there? 

Normally I can't stand going home unless it's for a holiday, but I really needed it this past weekend. With everything going on in Boone, both good and bad, I needed a weekend to get away from it all and relax with my dogs. I really wanted to cook, so I spent a good six hours in the kitchen Saturday night and I'm still stuffed and bloated! I made spinach, feta and onion stuffed chicken with pasta salad for dinner, and for dessert I made blueberry velvet cake with homemade cream cheese (which ended up being super weird tasting). I also made two pecan pies to bring back up here to share with everyone... But I completely forgot them in the fridge when I left! Oh well, guess next time I go home I'm gonna be going for Insane Cooking Round 2!

The only thing good to come about from this cold weather is the fact that I get to wear super cute sweaters and scarves for the rest of the season. After being sick and living in yoga pants, I think I could do without sweat pants and t-shirts for a while (never thought I'd say that!). The neat thing about sweater weather is that if you add enough layers to any outfit, it has to look halfway decent.. right?

After being out sick all last week with bronchitis, I have lost any and all motivation to do any of my schoolwork for the rest of the semester. I blame it on the cough syrups laced with narcotics.. Those things will put you out! I have an exam in abnormal psychology today... I meant to study for it in the library yesterday afternoon, but I ended up listening to Lady Gaga's new album and watching the latest episode of Once Upon a Time instead. I still have yet to actually study for the exam and it's at 3:30! Let's hope I can get through this exam so I can go back to sleep right afterwards!

I woke up this morning to hear the wind whistling in my bathroom... I'm scared to go outside! I am ready to see the snow but I am not ready for the cold that snow brings with it. I'm hoping that if I pretend that it's not there it'll go away, like an annoying little kid or something. Does that work for weather too?

Instead of studying tonight, I've decided that it's Lady Gaga dance party time. I've made up a hand choreography and everything! P-p-p-poker face

I've worked so much on my literature review--reading more articles, highlighting, taking notes, organizing all the information I have into little charts... And I haven't even started writing! I plan on getting started writing tomorrow, it just seems like the organization will be the hardest part of this paper. I really do love what I'm writing about, but I might scream if I have to read another article that tells me the exact same thing everyone else is saying! I swear, there's no research out there that is significantly different from any others. I guess that's where I come in?

I can't say I'm ever really excited for going home.. I truly enjoy living up in Boone and I especially love the independence that comes with it! But lately I've been so stressed out with everything that comes with the college experience and going home to my family and my dogs is a much needed break. I have a friend who is in need of some serious barn help, so I think most of my daylight hours is going to be spent helping her out scooping poop, grooming and feeding horses and any other chores she can find (but I seriously couldn't be more excited for horse time!). I'm running the Glo Run later on this month which will be my first ever 5K so I have an excuse to buy more neon clothes.. maybe I should actually try running a few times before then too? I definitely think fall break is exactly the mental break I need, even though I'll still be working on my literature review for this class!
