A few years ago, I wrote out some details for a story idea involving what I called the Free Use App. The notes I took are below: Users and subjects are required to disclose their legal identities to the app and provide an STD test every three months. STD testing is reimbursed for subjects. Level 1: Available at download Subject activates when they want to be used, will notify users in the vicinity who can communicate with the subject via the app, and submit a 1-5 star review after an encounter Level 2: Advancement to Level 2 requires a minimum of three distinct individuals leaving 4-star reviews: Subject can no longer activate and deactivate at will, but must set a weekly schedule to follow. The schedule can be changed, but changes do not take place for at least a week. There is no minimum number of scheduled hours per week Level 3 requires a minimum of five distinct individuals leaving 4-star reviews, an average review of at least 3 stars over the last week, and at minimum 20 scheduled active hours in each of the last two weeks Change: The subject is provided with a door lock to their residence that can be opened by users with the app and is required to install it. Additionally, there is a minimum of 8 scheduled hours each day. These hours may include time the subject is normally asleep. Level 4: Minimum average review of 4 stars over the last 4 weeks from at least 10 distinct individuals. Minimum 16 scheduled hours each day for at least two weeks Change: Subject is provided with a subtle, but distinguishing collar, and is no longer permitted to deactivate the app.

Level 5: one user in good standing has used a level 4 subject every day for a week, and agrees to sponsor it. They’re now responsible for its well-being, but can also train it however they desire, advertise it to other users, and share in the revenue from doing so.
