“the left” does not have a coherent, transformative concept or practice of interpersonal emotional care because they hate women they refuse to engage with the very real mental burden that comes along with helping others process their struggles, where there is little to no knowledge of how to articulate healthy boundaries (and such boundaries are called “””neoliberal””” or some other meaningless neologism), and this is generally relegated to women’s expectations. ask the daughters who are appointed as the therapists of their mothers. ask the mothers who have to appease their husbands who don’t reciprocate any household or relationship duties. ask them how quickly and swiftly they will be roped into cycles of emotional abuse because their support is a requirement. many women are put into a position where they feel they don’t have the freedom to discern what their boundaries are, where they have to ignore their own limits and relinquish any defense of their mental health. friends should support each other through the good and the bad, our relationships shouldn’t be imbued with financial expectations, but a lotta lefties just mask their entitlement to and dismissal of women’s mental health into a critique of capitalism because they hate women without respect to what all of this entails. underlying the misuse of terms like “emotional labor,” there is a real and rightful feeling of disregard for women’s mental health. leftists who dismiss this are committing a grave disservice, simply because it isn’t being articulated well (you clowns ought to be smart enough to recognize this what with your preaching the gospel of “nuance”). people spend years training in how to approach emotion work for a reason. not everyone is equipped with the tools to offer the equivalent of professional-grade life assistance their every waking moment and in many many cases they are destroyed under this expectation.
