Iāve finished the entire Captive Prince trilogy, including the side story The Summer Palace, which feels like a soft epilogue to Kings Rising, the final book in the series and I genuinely donāt know how to move on š
These books were insane in the best way possible.
The enemies-to-lovers arc in this trilogy is unlike anything Iāve ever read beforeā¦ slow, tense, painful, and so incredibly satisfying once it finally pays off.
I finished the entire trilogy in about 4ā5 days, which is honestly shocking for me since it usually takes me that long just to finish a single book. I just couldnāt put it down.
The dynamic, the political tension, the emotional buildupā¦ everything was just addictive. I kept telling myself āone more chapterā and suddenly I was at the end of the book.
Itās not just a romance, itās a story about trust, identity, power, and choosing someone even after everything. It was very satisfying to see enemies-to-lovers trope done so wellā¦ and I donāt think Iāll be recovering from it anytime soon.

I absolutely loved this book! This book completely stole my heart, and I became attached to the characters almost immediately. By the end, I was emotional, crying, and eager to continue the series.
Kai and Alex š¤. I was rooting for them from the very beginning. Their chemistry was incredible, and watching their bond grow throughout the story was one of my favorite parts. They both felt like real people with their own fears, struggles, and vulnerabilities, which made them easy to connect with.
This book is so much more than just a romance. It explores heavier topics like homophobia, abuse, drugs and alcohol useā¦ and finding comfort and security in another person. There were plenty of moments that made my heart ache.
The writing was beautiful and easy to read. I flew through the pages because I was completely invested in the characters and needed to know what would happen next. Itās one of those books that quietly pulls you in until you realize youāre fully obsessed.
The reason this earned a 4.75 instead of a full 5 stars is because it came so close to being perfect. The emotional depth, character development, and romance were all exceptional and made this an incredibly memorable read. My only real criticism was the ending, which relied heavily on a cliffhanger. While it definitely made me eager to continue the series, it also left me wanting a bit more closure after becoming so invested in the story. That lingering frustration was the only thing keeping this from a full 5 stars.
Overall, Chasing Fields was emotional, heartwarming, and impossible to put down. The characters and story left a lasting impression, and I already know this is a book Iāll be thinking about for a long time. Canāt wait for the second book!
