This book had a strong premise and some interesting worldbuilding, but it didn’t fully click for me. I liked parts of the political intrigue and there were moments that really worked, but the pacing and characters weren’t as compelling as I’d hoped. It’s still an enjoyable read overall, just not one that completely stood out to me.

I loved the cast of characters, especially Marcellus, who easily stole every scene he was in. The story explores grief, loneliness, and finding connection in such a gentle and hopeful way. While the pacing is slower, it gives the characters time to grow, and the ending left me with a smile. It’s a comforting, feel-good read that reminds you it’s never too late for a fresh start. :)

“Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt

June was a month of emotional damage, amazing writing, and a few books that tested my patience.

• Favorites: The Summer Palace, Chasing Fields, and King’s Rising.

• Disappointments: Model Home.

These books were insane in the best way possible.

The enemies-to-lovers arc in this trilogy is unlike anything I’ve ever read before… slow, tense, painful, and so incredibly satisfying once it finally pays off.

I finished the entire trilogy in about 4–5 days, which is honestly shocking for me since it usually takes me that long just to finish a single book. I just couldn’t put it down.

The dynamic, the political tension, the emotional buildup… everything was just addictive. I kept telling myself “one more chapter” and suddenly I was at the end of the book.
