except this is really not six sentences but i just wrote it so it’s fresh off the typewriter and i wanted to share a very plotless, fluffy nini pov (rare for me) 💞
Nini opens her eyes, and the first thing she waits for is her chest to burst. For it to reach its ultimate tensile strength, or for the thorned ugliness of wanting something too much to reward her with prickles inside out - the kind of barbed pain that warrants pliers and tweezers for alleviation.
She expects the morning to bring ammunition to the pulmonary artery, and while she’s not quite sure what it does, she knows that it connects the lungs to the heart, both organs she has beyond exhausted in the past twenty four hours.
But, actually, nothing is bursting, and nothing is bad. None of that really, because something sweet has succumbed to gravity on her chest. Something alive, something breathing balloon-soft inhales.
Myki whose hair smells like jam jars and drapes black like a lazy veil, and when she thinks about it more, maybe all veils should be black, to hell with purity, because whatever grows from Myki’s scalp has to be formed completely by intricate button-hole stitches and hours of unalloyed devotion.
The curtains of her eyes are drawn and dreamy, and her palm encloses Nini’s own, like even her sleep riddled, flimsy limbs know what they want.
It makes Nini realize that, no, her chest doesn’t truly feel like that of needled rosebuds or compromised haystacks, it feels much much closer to stars exploding in the confines of her body: a framework she previously thought was robust enough to handle big feelings.
But this doesn’t even come close to anything she’s felt before.
