"I've had enough. More dead ends than a dead man's dick." Madeleine Sami as Eddie Redcliffe in Deadloch 2.05
You were in Barra Creek that night, Eddie. From the moment we met, you have consistently and repeadtedly lied to me.
sorry gotta get my āfriend thatās too wokeā on but I donāt think the solution to misogyny is more misogyny. like by all means rip into republican/right wing women but your critiques should be about how theyāre evil soulless people not āhaha theyāre ugly/visibly aged. they donāt know how to put on make up!ā like i donāt fucking know man I donāt think any woman at all should be required to wear makeup or be made fun of for not wearing it āproperlyā also letās stop doing the ānot conventionally attractive = morally badā thing. that last part especially be kicking yāall asses.
When Tess Morgan's son came home with a tattoo, she was griefstricken. She knew her reaction was OTT (he's 21) but it signalled a change in their relationship
This is gold this, absolute gold, the most over the top melodramatic hysterical ridiculous thing Iāve ever read
This is actually so interesting to read- itās from 2012 but its full of the same anxieties, even some of the same phrasing that many of the guardianās later pieces on transness use. really hammers home how much of the terfism that emerged in the late 10s was middle class mothers angry at a loss of control over their adult children- whether that be their bodies or their friends or their opinions- and making that everyoneās problem because they have the power to do so
He says, āIām still the same person.ā
I look at him, sitting there, my 21-year-old son. I feel Iām being interviewed for a job I donāt even want. I say, āBut youāre not. Youāre different. I will never look at you in the same way again. Itās a visceral feeling. Maybe because Iām your mother. All those years of looking after your body ā taking you to the dentist and making you drink milk and worrying about green leafy vegetables and sunscreen and cancer from mobile phones. And then you let some stranger inject ink under your skin. To me, it seems like self-mutilation. If youād lost your arm in a car accident, I would have understood. I would have done everything to make you feel better. But this ā this is desecration. And I hate it.ā
Also just the classism of her associating tattoos with āvest tops, dogs on chains, broken beer glassesā; like, just say you hate poor people

I was talking about this with a friend but a really interesting cultural shift over the last ohhhhhh ten years maybe is that many people in fandoms view themselves as stakeholders and not audience members. Because of that, they think that the fandom should be running things, or at least have an acknowledged say in how something is run. And every reminder that they are not in control, no matter how small, bothers them.
This has always existed to an extent but it used to be very siloed and only noticeably prevalent in certain fandoms and everyone else in fandom spaces generally agreed that it wasnāt healthy to act like that. Now itās seemingly every fandom with an online presence and itās all happening much more publicly than ye olde Trekkie forum.
I do think that the increase in access to creatives through social media, extended promotional cycles where you do a thousand interviews and all of them get clipped for instagram and tiktok, and an increase in entertainment and fandom aggregate social media accounts which keep people updated on all of those clips and every second of the creative process has had a big hand in creating this sense of ownership that audience members feel. It makes us feel like weāre on the team because we think we know so much. But we are not and we donāt.
Still no fish bag news, but I have now finished uni! These are the things I made! They are The Bear and Rose from my beloved Ghost Quartet
having being anti death penalty as one of my core beliefs is fun because it really makes me realize how even progressive people want soooooo badly for there to be a category of people they can kill. I'm sorry but "group of people okay to kill" does not exist.

like at least 50% of internet lgbt discourse would evaporate if people quit using the term "spaces" when they mean "discord servers" or "tumblr blogs" because we would collectively realize how stupid that shit is

Deadloch 2.01 | Croc Justice
i feel like we don't appreciate these days how much the twin towers sucked, like, design-wise
they were contemporarily hated for just being these giant grey monoliths
like there probably could've been an easier way to get rid of them, but they probably needed to go either way
crying at this. the curb is brutalist. the sidewalk is brutalist. house made of concrete bricks is brutalist. lmao??
