Added "Adult Books" because some of the list on the Y/A doesn't quite make the cut for Y/A.
I'd also like to make a note: None of the books recommended will be smutty, as I only recommend books I've read, and I do not read smut. So no, that is not what "adult" means.
:)

Fantasy/Sci Fi:
The Sky Beyond the Storm series by Sabaa Tahir
Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman
Romance/Emotional:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
Paper Towns by John Green
Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
DCC Carl is the Guy™ of all time. 6'3 ex-coastguard trained in hand-to-hand combat. Was 100% gonna fight Bea's rich lawyer dad for custody of her cat, Princess Donut. Religiously hits the gym 2-3 times a week. Is completely at ease saving the world in heart boxers and, when necessary, completely naked. Also embraces his luscious long hair. Has the uncanny ability to combine, bend, and break game rules to suit his needs. Despite his intelligence, still regularly falls back on "bomb the shit out of it" as a solution. Curses like a sailor. Says "I love you" with no hesitation. Has surrounded himself with competent, scary-ass women and when they go, "Carl you fucked up" his response is, "Yeah, I did. I'm sorry." Ultra daddy issues. Works hard to never become his father. The two times he prioritized ~sexy lady~ over survival he was literally charmed. A friend to everyone who has his and Donut's back, be they human, alien, sluggalo, goat, or sentient sex doll head.
Did murder a bunch of goblin babies though. And allegedly jerked off a crab.
Ah well. No guy's perfect!
Confession to make: I have never liked any true romance book I've ever read.
They're too cheesy. Too fast. Built on slim and impossible chances.
And then I read Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren, and now, I can change my statement from "Never liked any true romance book" to "Almost never liked any true romance book"
(I actually did like If He Had Been With Me, but because of the ending I consider it more of an emotional book than romantic.)

**Originally published in the New Yorker in 1948; interestingly, the New Yorker still has this story archived on their website BEHIND A PAYWALL. CAN YOU IMAGINE.
The core conceit of Lord of the Rings is pretty funny. You are a twenty three year old in a suburb of Maine. The little bracelet in your grandpa’s attic has an inscription on it that is the password to the world’s entire nuclear arsenal. It is up to you to walk to the only hydraulic press in the world, located in Arizona, before the FBI finds the bracelet, kills you, and enslaves the suburb of Maine you currently live in

Today on Book Recommendations:
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman.
Rating: General/Adult, not for children
Genre: Fantasy/Sci Fi
Review: Have you ever played Dungeons and Dragons? You know how people describe it as the Lord of the Rings that slowly morphs into Monty Python and the Holy Grail? This. This is what Dungeon Crawler Carl is. The plot twists go to insanity and beyond, written as only someone who knows how to derail the most epic of campaigns can.
10/10, would recommend.
“Do you realize that all great literature is all about what a bummer it is to be a human being? Isn’t it such a relief to have somebody say that?”
— Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country
From a young age, you're taught "Don't write in books."
I disagree.
The best way to actually fully absorb a book's knowledge is annotation. Notes, thoughts, underlines, highlights, corresponding quotes, they all work together to create the best understanding of what the book is really about.
Write in books.

Interesting. Never heard of it.
I suppose it'll have to be added to my TBR.
Thanks!
“We write stories about imaginary people in imaginary situations. Then we publish them (because they are, in their strange way, acts of communication — addressed to others). And then people read them and call up and say, But who are you? Tell us about yourself! And we say, But I have. It’s all there, in the book. All that matters — But you made all that up! — Out of what?”
— Ursula K. Le Guin, The Language of the Night

Both exited and upset about the new Eragon TV Show Disney is putting out. The movie was awful, so I suppose they're going to attempt another Percy Jackson-style reboot.
In my opinion, they'd be better off rebooting Artemis Fowl, who's movie was close to Percy Jackson level disaster, in fact, almost worse. At least Percy Jackson got some of the plot right.
“Fiction and nonfiction are not so easily divided. Fiction may not be real, but it’s true; it goes beyond the garland of facts to get to emotional and psychological truths. As for nonfiction, for history, it may be real, but its truth is slippery, hard to access, with no fixed meaning bolted to it. If history doesn’t become story, it dies to everyone except the historian.”
— Yann Martel, Beatrice and Virgil
"Fiction is the lie that tells the truth." -Albert Camus
