Boogie Philosophy

Title Reference - 'Boogie Philosophy' by De-Phazz My Name is Adam Chess I am a 22 year old Graduate Student of Philosophy at Fordham University. I often come up with ideas related to philosophy which are either ill-formed, not coherent, not expressed properly, or simply 'out there.' In an effort to spare my professors the wailing and gnashing of teeth associated with these ideas, I am going to put them here. Not that everything on here will be mine, or philosophy for that matter, I'll be using it in a regular Tumblr sense as well; re-blogging stuff that I like and that sort of thing, but the main focus (if all goes according to plan) will be on Philosophy, and particularly my ideas involving it. Philosophy stuff: I consider myself to be an Analytic-towards-Continental in terms of the current schools. I find myself thinking, understanding, and expressing, fundamentally in an analytic fashion, but I find that that which I am most interested in, at base, is primarily continental. I am, Philosophically, interested in the creation and construction of systems of thought, but I find my ways of thinking best suited to dissection, critique, and simplification. For better or for worse. my #1 guy is Alfred North Whitehead my #1.A guy is Hegel Other crowd favorites include, but are not limited to; Nietzsche Schopenhauer Dewey Pierce Nelson Goodman Spinoza Leibniz Berkeley Sartre Deluze Badiou My main areas of interest include, but are certainly not limited to: -Process Philosophy -Meta-Philosophy [this, and it's subdivisions are largely defined in my own terms] ----Philosophical Method ----Artistic Philosophy ----Mechanical Philosophy -Philosophy of Science -Philosophy of Mathematics One important thing; I do not consider myself to be a Philosopher, I feel that a Philosopher is defined as such by way of his contributions to the field, and is characterized by his way of living life through his philosophy. I do not do this, and I have not yet seriously contributed to the field in any way, I am a student of Philosophy; I am learning, not doing, or living, Philosophy - at least not one purely of my own creation. About me: I live in Connecticut. I do a bit of Graphic design as a hobby. I smoke, quite a bit. I smoke a pipe, not due to pretentiousness, but simply due to the fact that it tastes better, smells better, is less harmful, and is much cheaper, than cigarettes. I occasionally have trouble speaking like a normal human being when I am immersed in understanding a philosophy. I occasionally recommend books for people. I have trouble understanding literature and often just don't 'get it.' I listen to music for the music, seldom for the lyrics. Boogie Philosophy, the song, is how I would like to live my own life. I am agnostic-functionally-atheist I am liberal, and probably a democrat by most standards. I hope, someday, to be a professor of Philosophy, and learn through teaching, which I have found to be the very best way that I go about learning. I have worked as a rehabilitation aide in Brooklyn working with the mentally ill. I am currently working for a healthcare company owned by my dad. I do marketing, yes, I am a little ashamed of that. I obviously welcome any and all comments, though I know enough about these sorts of things not to expect any.
