Crime News, May 23rd, 2019: Serial killer Bobby Joe Long (65) is scheduled to be executed by the state of Florida later today.

Bobby Joe Long, who murdered at least ten women in Florida aged between 18 and 28, was sentenced to death in 1985 for the murder of 22-year-old Michelle Denise Simms. As well as this death sentence, Long is serving several lengthy prison sentences for further convictions of rape and robbery. His death warrant was signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis last month on April 23rd, the first such warrant to be signed by DeSantis during his premiership.

One of the witnesses to Long’s execution will be Lisa McVey Noland, who managed to escape from Long after being raped and assaulted. She has said she intends to wear a shirt to his execution which reads “Long” on the front, and “Overdue” on the back. Although glad Long’s time may finally be up, Noland has lambasted the appeals process which has kept Long alive for so long, saying: “Where are the rights of the women he killed?”. When Long abducted Lisa, he had already murdered eight women, and he held her hostage and abused her for a period of 26 hours.
