i think its one of those things where i cant say there Isnt a textual basis for it. tamsyn isnt stupid she isnt Accidentally having ianthe say "choke me daddy" and wearing little maid outfits in dream sequences and generally playing that particular kind of romantic antagonist we so often find in YA. im not gonna pretend that the bone arm scene and the lombotomy werent Kind Of sex for ianthe. that woman is one hundred percent invested in the strange, offputting character shes crafted and theres something amusing and or alluring about watching a greasy paper white workaholic who cant hold up her arms long enoigh to braid her own hair try and play into some insane sexual fantasy that Nobody gives a shit about

but thats where it ends for me. its incredibly comedic, and telling of ianthes personality and manipulation tactics. but since harrow is so Aggressively not into it i derive no joy from pretending theres a world where this works on her. this is 100 percent a fantasy ianthes concocted in her mind of harrow being so utterly deprived of options she has to lower her standards past the ninth circle of hell and swap spit with that fucking woman.

in htn, harrow has a scene with the body where she practically begs the body to sleep with her, which is a clear sign that she is not avert to anything sexual unlike what was shown in the first book. not only that, but i personally view the body as a placeholder for gideon, whom we all know harrow holds affection for. after the diy lobotomy from ianthe's, she still held onto those feelings and we, as the readers, see it. however, after completely erasing gideon, she has nowhere to latch those affections onto. so why not connect it with the other dead woman whom she discovered in the tomb? the one who gave her a reason to live?

in gtn, harrow also acknowledges gideon's good looks, saying that everyone would've throttled the latter otherwise. what i'm getting at here is that harrow isn't the unfeeling, sexually repulsed nun that others (especially gideon) often see her as. and that she is specifically romantically and sexually attracted to gideon, enough to show these wants of hers to the supposed placeholder that is the body. harrowhark loves too much for her own good, and she craves for pleasures of the flesh in a way that it would ground her.
