âHeh.â He was pleased with himself, that was certain. Sans had always warned him that one day his absurd sense of humor was going to get him in trouble. But really, it was one of the few things he still got a kick out of, that never got old. Still, even as he stood up and brushed himself off, he would probably have to cut back on the jokes a bit. He didnât want to drive the other Papyrus too far up the wall. That would just be rude. Funny yeah, but rude. He did kind of mess up the guyâs yard.
He took a moment to familiarize himself with his surroundings. The place seemedâŚhomey actually. It felt kind of warm in a weird gushy heartfelt way. But his attention haphazardly focused back on his counterpart. He just sort ofâŚlingered there while the other spoke. It make him feel a little better that there was someone he could work with to try and fix things. He usually wasnât so lucky. His brow bone raised a bit more with nearly every word the other said.
At the heavily emphasized âYOUâ he nearly blinked, but a horrible grin worked its way to him face. âSpuds huh? Not bad, not bad at all.â Hardly fazed, he tested the name in his mind and found that he kind of liked it. Had a flare of some sort. âMakes sense considering that Iâm pretty much rooted here for now. Thatâs some nice creativity you have going for ya.â There was a pause, a small snort leaving him. âSo I canât call you potato then? Not that Starlight isnât cool, I like it. But thereâs so many options.âŚâ
âHow about Petals? Or maybe Conductor, because you always so direct. Oh I knowâŚ.since youâve got the nickname Starlight I can call you Lit.â
âI. WHAT.â The horrified stare was sure to make it obvious that his offerings were⌠less than desirable. Scrounging around and organizing the groceries heâd just gotten, including fruit punch-flavored cotton candy ( obviously a new and rare indulgence ), Papyrus quickly voiced his chagrin. âPETALS, FINE. CONDUCTOR SOUNDS SILLYâââ BUT, BUT LIT?â
Contrary to popular, degrading belief, he was no mere kid with the purity of a pristine lake. No, he easily understood far more than what the majority of people presumed he did, and stupid weed jokes were some of those things. If he thought that was going to fly over his head, he was wrong, and if he thought that it was going to be funny, he was very wrong. Itâd obviously left a sour note on his tongue, and the items were slammed into the fridge with a rougher, more careless handling than his usual. The way his nose bridge crinkled with distaste when he glanced over his shoulder, in contrast to his more mature state of intelligence, was very⌠very childish.
âSTARLIGHT OR PETALS IS FINEâââ AND WE WILL LEAVE IT AT THAT.â With an indignant huff, upon retrieving a tupperware bowl filled with spaghetti, he shoved the door closed with a smack of the hips to its surface. âIF ANYONE IS âLITâ IN THIS HOUSEHOLD, I GUESS SANS WOULD FIT THE BILL, BUT HE DOESNâT⌠DO THAT.â He gave a click of the teeth. âAS FAR AS I KNOW.â
Rummaging through the cabinets to retrieve a fork, heading into the living room and setting the bowl with greater fragility than his demeanor before, his mind simmering down from the irritation of⌠all of that behavior. He was going to get over it, though. He did with Sans, even if his brotherâs antics were honestly to a lesser extent. Come on, nowââ it was time to be an excellent host!
âDESPITE YOUR JOKES BEING THE TYPE TO MAKE ME WANT TO PLANT MY HEAD IN THE TOILET, HOWEVER, I WELCOME YOU TO MY LIVING ROOM! PLEASE ENJOY YOUR SPAGHETTI AND BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELTS. IT WILL TAKE YOU FOR A WILD ADVENTURE TO FLAVOR TOWN!â
Wowie, that was new. Not surprising per say, but different. Why was interacting with this....particular version of himself so...refreshing for some reason? He didnât really feel like delving into the detailed bitty gritty of why. But at least being stuck here wasnât going to be so bad. âAh~ man. Starlight it is then.â He wondered how the other Papyrus got that nickname in the first place. Was he into stars like Sans was maybe? He may like to drift through the echo flowers every once and a while but stars didnât really interest him that much. Nah, the star he really admired was the sun.Â
Spaghetti? Like an alarm, the word triggered his senses. How long had it been since he ate something? No, more importantly how long had it been since he had spaghetti? Ignoring the fact that he had neglected to eat anything that day yet so really anything wouldâve sounded good to him right then. He really canât even remember what time he started on his little...test drive.Â
Moving with just a little more speed than usual, he was drawn to the living room. He was trying not to seem excited about it, but, he didnât get to eat spaghetti as often as he liked to. His brother couldnât really eat his Spaghetti. The last time he tried cooking it and serving it to Sans he took one bite and kind of...froze for a minute. Then when he tried to take it away Sans insisted it was the best thing heâd ever had and ate the whole pot, ended up getting sick.
So yeah, this was going to be a favorable experience for him. âWow, thanks. Canât tell you how long itâs been since I last had some pasta.â The fork was picked up with gusto. âFlavor town is one of my favorite places to go.â
