We get some character growth from Kai this episode, but it's a frustrating journey.

He's fed-up with the military. He's decided it's not for him and he leaves. Oddly - Bright just lets him go. He doesn't need to sneak out in the night like Amuro did... Probably because he's not trying to steal a top-secret military prototype in the process.

He immediately runs into Miharu - a lady living in Belfast supporting her young siblings by spying for Zeon. Kai figures this out very quickly and simply does not care.

He actually intentionally drops military secrets to her. I guess to help her make money? To fuck-over White Base? I dunno... It seems really, really odd.

And then - when divulging military secrets to a spy unsurprisingly results in White Base being attacked... Kai is unable to stand-by and let it happen. He feels compelled to jump into a mobile suit and fight to protect his friends.

Miharu sneaks aboard White Base in the chaos. Kai discovers her pretty quickly... And decides to help her hide. She reports more information to Zeon, which results in another attack... And at this point I'm seriously wondering what the hell Kai is thinking.

Miharu dies during the fighting - tossed from a Gunperry when she tries to help fight-off the Zeon attack.

Kai is devastated... But I'm just kind of confused.

I feel like there's missing episodes in here. Some piece of narrative that I didn't see. Kai only knew this woman for a couple days... And she was very clearly spying for Zeon the whole time... I'm not sure why he was so attached to her.
