Send ☭ x for a vs. battle quote to your muse

On the doorstep, a package wrapped by an obviously very careful- and inexperienced- hand. Inside is a tiny jewelled snuffbox, decorated by little silver rats looking up with sapphire eyes. A tiny card inside even that- "MERRY RAT PLEASE DO NOT EAT"
Narciso (still in his stockings and lounge coat, intending to stay that way all Christmas day) claps his hands and cries out in delight. “Oh, how lovely! The loveliest and most charming gift of rats I have ever received! And believe me, ever is a lot.” (Thereupon, he holds the snuffbox up to the light, and admires the sapphire twinkling of rat’s-eyes.)
“We’ve world enough and time, no matter what Marvell has to say about it.” -Narcisa
Had we but world enough, and time, this coyness, Lady, were no crime.
(For those wondering: I asked for IC lines to say to test my microphone, and this one is from a lovely spring scene between Lamia and Narcisa.)
This is different… (We snagged it from http://weheartit.com/entry/101255561/)

… do want
Thought about this for an entire day and I STILL can’t tell whether I want to wear this coat or ask it out to an elegant dinner…
Send me an ask and I’ll tell you about a time when my character...
…drank way too much. …ran into an ex. …lost their cool. …went overboard shopping. …made an unusual friend. …won something they didn’t expect to. …found a book they couldn’t put down. …did something that they were really proud of. …did something that they ended up being ashamed of. …laughed so hard they cried. …couldn’t stop crying. …got dressed up for an event that they didn’t want to go to. …fell asleep in an inappropriate place. …kissed someone they didn’t expect to. …got away with something. …spent way too long lying in bed. …had something turn out better than expected. …couldn’t stop thinking about something (or someone). …found a new favorite food. …got really sick. …had an awkward moment with family. …had an epiphany. …couldn’t sleep. …tripped over their own ego …lost a bet.
A letter for Narci
“How long has it been since I wrote you a proper letter? I feel as though I should fill out this page to the brimming. I’d like to treat you to an amusing anecdote, an excerpt of poetry, stories of travel, snippets of conversation with entertaining characters. But the well is dry, and I would risk boring you. So, instead, I will get straight to the point.
I’m a member of a journal club. The conversation, like the cake, tends to be a little dry and a little stale. When I think of good company, I think of Narcisa. Bright, vivacious, gregarious Narcisa. Will you come?
-Lamia”
Letters from you are like lilies of the field -- you need not toil to spin a tale for me! Besides, dear friend, I know what it’s like to be drawing from a dry well. I’ve been struck with composer’s block for months.
A journal club would be just the thing. Something to keep me creating, and the cake and conversation tantalizing.
With all my thanks for the invitation -- and twice the thanks for the flattery --
Yours --
Narcisa

London will have a Mayor. This week, we announce the candidates. Who will you support? #Election1894
The mistress of the Parlour of Virtue was first to declare herself. She is supported by nuns and personages of the night. She bears the slogan: “Fortune Favours the Bold”
“Jenny doesn’t lack for status, and her coalition of nuns and ladies and gentleman of the night campaign on the streets. ‘I’m for the people.’ She waves her hand, 'I’m tired of London’s indifference to those suffering’” #Jenny1894

Restocked: Atelier Boz - ローランドジャケット Roland Jacket BZ2130 / BZM2130 in blue.
A parlour game suggestion from a nineteeth-century book of “indoor amusements”. Sounds fun to me.
Samuel vs Narciso
A dark-haired woman in a firebird mask takes Samuel and Narciso to a ring of red roses: Fencing. The musician nearby strikes up an anticipatory note in the song she plays.
“Begin,” says the firebird.
(Samuel Blackleaf takes first post.)
The man is clad in a dazzling parabolan-linen tailcoat, each thread a brilliant shade of dreams and light. He unbuttons it, revealing a waistcoat of the same fabric adorned with scarlet red patterns, and beneath that a deep amber coloured shirt. As he removes the tailcoat he reaches for a scabbard that hides a dulled foil. Soon the brilliant tailcoat hangs on a nearby pillar and the man steps across the roses, carefully observing the size of the ring.
Although masked it is easy to see that he looks neither at the crowd, opponent nor judge as he raises his arm into the air, seemingly measuring some sort of distance in his mind. After a few seconds he lowers it with a content sigh, resting the hand on the grip of the foil. The face adorned with a Volto mask briefly looks at the judge, but then focuses on the opponent. The mask that he wears covers the face above the bridge of the nose and is adorned with shards of cosmogone glass. It’s a difficult veil to describe. Perhaps they glimmer like the rays of the sunset, or maybe they look more like a broken mirror to another individual.
“Salve, Narciso. With fashion and presentation like that I rather doubt you are an impostor, you might just be our city’s bearer of that particular alias.”
The fingers reach around the grip, waiting for his opponent to respond or draw their blade. “This will be intriguing. Your reputation is far told, and I didn’t expect that I would have the luxury of facing you as my first opponent.”
“You flatter me, my friend!” Narciso’s mask is a thing of gold leaf and sheet music, a song written on his smiling face. Over his fencer’s jacket he wears a mantle of white raven’s feathers, which he removes for the bout with a whirl, the better to draw and test his foil. “Don’t stop, of course. Only let me return the favor -- that mask is an inspiration --”
The Feast falls fast upon us! How do you hope to spend the season, delicious friends? Going from revel to revel, partner to partner, in an ever-whirling waltz? Seeking enlightened culture and conversation in the city’s poetic and scientific salons? Or perhaps you intend to throw your mask into the ring, so to speak, and fight the Fights of the Exceptional Rose?
And what will you be wearing? Do share, delicious friends!
I’ve been experimenting with more neutrals in my wardrobe lately! Maybe soft greys and cream, and cosmogone… that always brings a nice touch to anything. I’m always wondering what you’d be wearing each year, though, with your lavish taste!
Oh, you’d be dashing with a cosmogone necktie, perhaps a pair of cosmogone cuff-links -- it brings out the gold in the browns of your hair, you know. Like a fantasy of sunlight.
I’ve gone with creams and golds, myself, and mantle of white raven’s feathers -- you wouldn’t think anything could twirl so beautifully, until you saw it! Say you’ll come see it? We can share a twirl together.
