I love a good sense of humor. If you can make me laugh I’m probably attracted to you. I’m not a fan of rude people or stuck up people. That’s just too much work and I don’t have time for it. 

“I was close enough to taste the arrest in my future and I really don’t need more on my record.” He laughed before setting down his bottle and furrowing his brows. “Where are you taking me this time?” He said getting up and paying the bill. “Gonna get me in more trouble?” 

“No I’m taking you to go have fun.” Bo patted his friend on the shoulder and then nudged him to the door. He could only spend so much time in one bar talking to the same people before he got bored. “ We need to get out and do different things.” 

Daniel rolled his eyes and laughed, “Honestly, I probably wouldn’t mind getting into a fight tonight.” He smiled downing his drink. His mind had been with Elsie and he had been with her most of the time but he got out with Bohai because why the hell not? Maybe he could figure out some kind of information. “Just don’t get me arrested.”

“I didn’t get us arrested last time.” Bohai shrugged his shoulders. “I’ve only been arrested once in my life. Well maybe twice but I was released straight after they brought me back to the station.” 

Bohai finished his beer and sat the empty bottle on the bar. “Let’s get out of here.” 

Bohai had decided to take Teddy out with him for the day. Teddy strutted ahead of him on his leash, showing off to the entire city. Bo had his carrying bag just in case Teddy got tired. He was heading to his favorite coffee shop when he spotted the guy he had met there a few days ago. 

“Hey, you want to meet my dog?” He called to the guy and pointed at Teddy. 

Work had been more stressful than usual for Bohai. Maybe it was because of everything that had happened at the Gala. He was having to use force more than normally when it came to his tasks he had to complete for the Triad. Everyone was jumpy and at the end of the day Bohai just wanted to relax. He had texted all of his friends to see who wanted to go out with them. But everyone told him that they were busy. So he went out by himself and decided to try out a different bar tonight. He sat down at the bar and ordered a drink.  “Have you had a hard day too?” He asked the man next to him after taking a long sip of his beer. 

It had been awhile since he had seen his friend. It was around the time that Bohai had gotten them kicked out of a frat party by campus police. It wasn’t his fault that some guy was being a dick and he had to punch him. He was pretty sure that Daniel only agreed to hang out with him again was if they stayed far away from the campus. Bo had no problem with that. 

“Are we going to sit in this bar all night long? I promise I won’t get us into any fights this time.” 

Mia was far too happy to feel self conscious about dancing around with candy in her hands, and when she heard someone laughing she didn’t take any offense to it. Mia looked up and immediately recognized Bohai from the time she had gotten lost. “Hey! I remember you too! How are you?” Mia kept smiling while she was eating her cotton candy. 

“Oh I heard about it! I haven’t actually seen it.” So that’s where Santi got that petting zoo idea from.  “Petting a llama sounds cool but do you know if they have horses? I think I would only want to pet a horse if i were being honest.” Mia wasn’t the biggest fan of farm animals…but she did have a love for horses. They were her exception to the rule, so much so she remembered asking her papa to teach her how to ride one when she was younger. They were such large and majestic creatures, she found she didn’t mind tending to them even if they were stinky. Brushing their manes was one of her favorite things to do…aside from the actual horseback riding of course. 

“I’ve been alright. How are you?” Bohai asked as he stepped up to get a better look at the table layered with all kinds of candy and sweets. He helped himself to a cake pop. He shrugged when she asked about horses. “I didn’t see any big horses but I think they have a few ponies out there. They are like horses except smaller I guess.” 

“Hm, is that so?“ Celine was curious about who precisely this boss-figure was, but she supposed that if he had outright told her, there would have been no fun in guessing. “Then it’s a loose association then, dear? My boss is the same. A fan of the open bar, but you don’t hear me complaining about that, love.” She winked at him playfully, her demeanor falling into a false sense of relaxation. “My, it seems as though you’ve gotten around quite a bit when you were young. Were your parents the sort to move around a lot then?”

“They might have been. I didn’t know them. I was an orphan. It was just a lot of shifting to different foster homes when I was younger. Eventually I aged out of the system and I was able to stay in one spot for a while.” Bohai Shrugged. He didn’t mind talking about his past. With how big the city was he was sure he had the same story as a bunch of people. 

“The Golightlys pulled out all the stops for this kind of event,” James answered honestly with a slight shrug of his shoulders. He wasn’t a man of particularly fine tastes himself–some cheese was better than others, sure, but cheese was still cheese at the end of the day–but could appreciate the amount of effort that had gone into this evening’s catering.

Hesitantly, he took the food from the stranger and took a bite, his face lighting with surprised delight.

“Damn,” he said, licking his lips and finishing the food he’d popped into his mouth. “Do rich people just get food grown with steroids or something?”

“It seems that way. They have to keep us poorer people from getting proper nutrients. It’s how they stay in power.” Bohai helped himself to another of the tarts. “I haven’t had food this good in a while. Usually I make whatever is easiest at home.” 

So far, nothing out of the ordinary had caught Celine’s eye as she patrolled the Golightly gala, sipping at champagne and making the less experienced mafia members scatter like mice for the fun of it. It was a delight, messing with those who knew of her, watching them grow pale and flee with some half-baked excuse. Knowing she had such influence over those in her line of work was nearly worth attending the dull event in the first place. 

A hand reached for her shoulder, causing the assassin to pause, turning to look at whoever had stopped her. “No need to apologize, darling. I certainly don’t mind being stopped by a handsome stranger.“ Celine teased, a quiet chuckle escaping her as she looked up at him. This didn’t seem to be someone within her respective line of work, but it didn’t mean he was harmless either. “Besides, I may not be your classmate, but perhaps you’ve recognized me from somewhere else.” She examined him more closely, scrutinizing him. “Who are you with this evening? I’m afraid I can’t quite recall meeting you before, and I’ve a knack for faces ”

“Oh my boss invited me, but to be honest I haven’t seen them at all this evening. I think they’re friends with the guy who put this party on.” Bohai knew that it probably wasn’t a good idea to announce that he was a part of the Triad. He wasn’t even sure why he was invited, only that he might be needed by the Dragon Head at some point in the party. 

“I swear you look like a girl I knew in high school. but I went to like three different ones so I can’t remember which one.” 

Having just stepped away from a conversation from one of her old classmates from law school that she’d unceremoniously run into, Sana had been quick in making the claim that she spotted someone she knew over at some unspecified location to avoid the topic of what she’d been up to as of late after this small exchange of pleasantries. Normally she wouldn’t have so easily walked into a random conversation especially since he didn’t seem to be talking to anyone in particular but in this moment it was to her benefit.

“It’s nice I suppose, if you’re into the snobbery of it all.” She responded candidly.

“I mean it’s just that I’ve never been to a party this fancy.” Bohai knew that most people wouldn’t be impressed with the party like he was. He couldn’t help that up until he started working for the Triad that his idea of fancy had been a restaurant that had table cloths on their tables.  “I guess it can be a little bit too much if you’re use to parties like this.” 

Bohai couldn’t remember the last time he had this much fun. Sure he had been to other parties before. But they were nothing as grand and big as this one. Everywhere he turned there was something new. He had spent a good hour at the petting zoo, petting each animal and getting a selfie with it to post to his instagram later. For what was supposed to be a stake out on the diamonds, he was having the best time.  He was standing near the edge of the dance floor, watching everyone dance and enjoy themselves.  “I wish I went to parties like this all the time.” He said to the girl who had walked up next to him.
