BODYWORKBODYWORK - FOG FRAGMENTS
Undulation of matter, of element, of object, of body. To be inside of it. To be outside of it. Pushing your weight against it, a slowed down zoetrope. streams of light lay suspended, a feather on a scale. White cloud forms its weaving, laying claim to each ray. You walk around it. You look around it. A release.
Richter smears the abysmal black, dotted with i’s, dotted with eyes, dotted with beads of water from our skin. Everything in real time feels like a memory, the kind you can hold. A kiss from Christiane F., a tribute to Mancuso, only our hearts know so well. Giving permission to the chasm, binding the friction in-between us.
Undulation of matter, of element, of object, of body.
Fog Fragments is an immersive multi-media installation on view December 3rd from 5-9pm. As part of the installation, BODYWORKBODYWORK will provide a live improvised soundtrack between the hours of 5-8pm, while a short film by Luke Lentes of London-based house dancer Clara Bajado will play on loop. This is not a performance meant to be viewed in its entirety. Viewers are encouraged to come at any time and to stay as long as they please.
BODYWORKBODYWORK is the collaborative efforts of Matt Brownell and Cat Lauigan, both interdisciplinary artists working in Los Angeles. Born from a shared love of techno and ambient music, artist books, and minimalism, Lauigan and Brownell use reductive processes to investigate the elements of our environment, seeking personal meaning in the objects, materials, and sounds of everyday life. They have exhibited and/or performed in Berlin, Costa Rica, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn, and have recently completed residencies at TAKT in Berlin and AARK in Finland. Their books and music are available at Printed Matter, Motto Berlin and Glasgow’s Good Press. Their newest project, Listening Party, brings together a diverse range of contributors in limited edition audio-visual packages, providing a platform for experimentation and opportunities for a wide range of collaborations.

Words Ending on Tape
Despacio collaborates with Printed Matter, Inc. (New York) to revive an almost lost medium. A few decades ago the cassette tape was the most convenient way to record sound material, yet with the fast advancing digital world it is at the verge of being completely forgotten. Nevertheless, artists have continuously used this format to further expand their forms of expression. Listen to the sound of a diary, bodies, an unstable table, singing sand, and of a disassembled cassette in our newest Library in Residence.
Printed Matter, Inc (New York) presents a selection of artists' audio on tape.
The projects include conceptual performance works for voice, improvised 'talk pieces', artists working in the sound/song medium, and sound projects that derive from work on paper, or that are conceived in connection with a companion artists' book. Several works of experimental audio reflect on the physical medium of the cassette itself, building on found sound or field recordings from the natural world that have been auto-tuned, tweaked and layered to create new meaning.
