Okay so something happened to “big brother Touya” that made him not apart of their lives anymore. Now that coulda been anything but given the way they never talk about him, it had to have been something big. And it was apparently Endevour’s fault. But Endevour doesn’t acknowledge whatever it was that he did…

Or does he?

“What of the future I cut short?”

Now that’s mama Todoroki in the panel there, but does that really make sense? When people say a life is cut short they usually mean someone has died. But Rei is still alive, even if she’s in a hospital. Her life hasn’t really been cut short, more like it’s been detoured.

So why is she in the panel looking hysterical like when she hurt Shouto? Well, we know Endeavor has been terrorizing her for years at that point but what if there was something that happened to push her over the edge?

Something like…the death of one of her children because of something her husband had done…

It would explain why it’s such a stuck point for Natsu (being involved in a child’s death is an unforgivable offence) and also why no one really speaks of Touya (hard to talk about dead loved ones). It explains Rei’s sudden violence at the time and why it’s being tied to Endevor “cutting a life short.” Also gives clues to where Dabi’s scars came from and why Endeavor showed zero recognition even when they came face to face, since Dabi looks vastly different from Touya and also Touya died…

So what happened?

Maybe Endevour pushed Touya too hard or maybe Touya pushed himself too hard trying to prove himself to his dad. Either way the encounter had seemingly fatal consequences. And maybe in Endevour’s haste to cover up what had happened, he didn’t realize that Touya was still alive…Over the length of his recovery, Touya’s anger at his father strengthens into hatred and he changes his name to Dabi.

I realized in the middle of drawing this that you meant boy Deku and not girl Deku but I can draw that too lmao
