"ahcoooo!” 

             this was it, death was finally opening it’s arms and taking her in a sweet embrace... a moment she’s long awaited for since she first caught this dang cold. sinking down onto a park bench, she declared that she just couldn’t go any further. she was far to weak, and far too stiff from laying in bed most of the day. 

             she was going to die here, wasn’t she?

             no, mirai couldn’t go like this. not until she made it back home... back to her friends. but then again, they all probably thought she was gone. didn’t they? shaking away that thought, she knew she was being over dramatic. but that is how she sometimes got the courage to go on. 

               so that’s what she did, she rose back to her feet and found the determination -- to keep going, an make it to the pharmacy. as quickly as she found the determination, it quickly came crashing down, as soon as she realized she had no idea where she was going. “well, apparently i am going to die out here....” 

        “OH, NO -- I LOST IT...”

        her new bonsai. she laid it on a bench, for a brief moment, just so she could go to a vending machine to buy herself a drink. frantically she tumbled around the bench, peering behind and inside the bushes, in case it had fallen. despite the lack of probability of that happening.  

        “what am i going to do?” she slumped down to her knees, letting out a ‘giving up’ sigh. after all the money she saved, from various jobs, was wasted. she could’ve spent her money on something important, like food but instead she chose to save up and buy a new bonsai tree. what a waste that was. she should have went with her head and bought food.

        speaking of food, where was her drink? miari looked around, and saw the contents of the can all over the ground. another waste of money.

        “w-what if somebody stole it? oh no-no, i really need an adult.”

       she couldn’t believe she was doing this, but she was desperate... for money that is. for an awkward, clumsy girl like her --  jobs where hard to come by. naturally she had a hard time impressing the mangers... somehow though, she had no problem impressing the manger of angel’s kiss maid and butler cafe... apparently, they really enjoyed awkward clumsy charm, because they had called her adorable.

      and now here mirai was. she had been given the job to go out, hand out flyers and conceive people to check out the cafe. the manger had convinced her that her ‘cuteness’ would be enough to bring customers in, and she was promised that she’d never have to wait tables. which mirai was a-okay with. 

     now her biggest issue was actually handing out the flyers. she felt very uncomfortable being out in public dressed as maid. she wasn’t very comfortable doing it behind closed doors either, now that she thought about it.... shaking away the memory. the glaring eyes of the crowd weren’t helping her case either. but she knew she had to suck it up, and pick an expecting person.

     so that’s what she did. 

    “hello m-master, i’d like to invite you to angel’s kiss maid and butler cafe.” she said, shoving the flyer into the guys hand. 

         oh. there it was again. that feeling in the pit of her stomach... the emptiness. the hunger. she should've had a bite to eat before she left her apartment... but she'd forgotten. she was in such a rush to leave, made food the last thing on her mind. 

        mirai shifted on her feet. pulling out her wallet from the pocket of her skirt, opening to check it to see if she even had a little cash, but there was none. there never was any. she worried that one day her wallet would become host to unwanted creatures... if only she could find a job, one that wouldn’t fire her the first day. 

           shoving the wallet back into her pocket, she scanned the area; looking for someone she could possibly scam a free meal out of. she hated doing this, but she had to eat. her eyes landed on someone... 

            “you there! d-do you want to get some food with me? i’ll buy...” a lie she told more times then she’d like to admit, especially since she landed on this strange land.
