Now this is usually when I would do a review of how it went for me, but honestly? The only thing I would say definitively is don't have a fest end in the middle of a Critical Role Episode (which I think is actually something I'd planned for, but then forgot about). The fact of the matter is - I live in south Minneapolis. Not only that, but one of the neighborhoods in south Minneapolis that is being heavily impacted by ICE raids. It's been pulling my attention away little by little since mid December. And hey - I'm a big fan of doing normal things in abnormal times, and it's a joy to run this sort of thing. But I both feel like I dropped the ball a little bit at the end there, and also if there was a ball I was going to drop, it better be this one.

Oof, there must be a lotta hazards around, especially since the year has only just begun (on Earth, at least). Are your glasses enchanted, or have you ever tried enchanting them?
I've found enchanting them to be a little tricky, too many enhancements on the durability front ends up compromising the actual vision correction part of things. So it's a balancing act. They've got a little toughness boost, but it's not much.
One of my projects for the new year involved a monkey-sized gun for one of Ashton's friends (???) and it has Not Gone Well So Far!
That makes a lot of sense, gotta prioritize the actual vision correction part. I'm pretty sure if my own glasses ever lost their vision correction properties or broke in some other way, a cliff would immediately materialize right in front of me for me to trip and fall off of, like a cartoon character. Er, well, like a comedic theater character I forget you don't have cartoons in Exandria?
That sounds. Oddly specific. And potentially world-ending in the wrong hands. You must put a lot of trust in Ashton and their friends(?). I hope you've managed to dodge most of the monkey-sized projectiles so far!
Yeah, I've made the mistake of not having spare pairs around before. I can't see my own fucking hands without glasses, and that gets real troublesome in a workshop that has open flames and chemicals and blackpowder and- yeah. Now I have a couple spares around the house, just in case!

And I haven't done proper gunsmithing in a while, so I figured it'd be a fun way to shake the rust off, but this thing is TINY and I am trying to make tiny little bullets for it but they keep exploding! The casing doesn't want to hold this much combustible powder! I'm just glad I still have all my fingers attached.
I'm a big fan of keeping my old pairs of glasses around as spares in case something does happen, even if they don't exactly fit my prescription anymore. Have you ever had to hide your spare pairs from your housemates before?

Besides the over-ambitious amount of ideas I have for several of the Critmas Wishing Tree 2025 prompts, I've been quietly sitting on this one idea for a multi-fic Shadowgast Time Loop + Lifespan Angst series that makes me feel a little feral every time it randomly pops back into my brain. It's gonna feature Yussa being the damsel-in-distress that he is, Kingsley throwing a wrench into everyone's plans like he does, some classic haunting of the narrative, and two different endings. Pure Shadowgast is not one of my usual ships, but the dunamancy fuckery and the juicy angst very much are my style π

How many WIPS do you currently have?
This is a cursed question, I'm citing writer-on-writer violence here π Not counting the ones I've started for Critmas Wishing Tree 2025 because *spoilers*, I have at least 6 that I have actual sections written out for and at least 6 more that are still in the idea/draft/outline stage. And that's just for CR alone (I refuse to look back at my older unfinished works from other fandoms out of a desire not to melt into an actual puddle)
11. Do you outline your fics before writing them?
For multi-chapter fics, some fics in a series, or even a very rare (usually longer) one-shot, absolutely! Having a general sense of where I'm going and where I'll end up is invaluable to me in those cases. For a lot of one-shots, though, especially the spontaneous ones that are more based on emotional reactions and impulses than planning or writing events/challenges, I just go wherever the writing muse deems to take me and hope I word-vomit out something that's not completely nonsensical
27. What is a question that you never get asked about your fics that you really want to answer?
Ooh, this is a tough one. I guess there are some times when I'm writing where I intentionally put in little treats for my readers (and for myself tbh), whether it's an Easter egg like a specific D&D spell or reference to canon or it's a fun little literary technique like alliteration. And part of me is sitting there rubbing my hands together deviously, just hoping that someone will pick up on that treat and ask "omg did you mean to do that?" And I can nod sagely while internally squealing with joy π
