It’s simple, as effortlessly as anything, for her to discern that grand amount of confusion the other must’ve started to feel right after the little ‘enlightenment’ she’s given him priorly. She could literally hear his hope & confidence ripple & crush beneath the weight of her utterance – another word, another fissure along the superficies of his collected physiognomy he tries so hard to maintain in front of her until it all cracks, crumbles away beneath his feet. This is absolutely N O T what she’s intended to achieve by straightening out the dents of knowledge he obviously had carried inside for quite a while … & who knows what else he believes to be able to find here next to his so called 'FBI agency’. There’s no longer any other military force aside from the Police Brigade & the Survey Corps that ensure ample safety for every citizen within & offside the inner sanctums of the walls they call their home. A safe haven for every pilgrim, a strong, undying light amidst a dark night. Of course, unfortunate & shocking happenings such as the ones they’ve witnessed only a couple of days ago have proven to be a cause for concern & that their defensive walls weren’t as fending & impermeable or flawless as expected. But they’re ready, wise enough to learn from their own mistakes so that, after the attack on Wall Maria & the tragic ejuration of the entire perimeter humanity’s occupied over a good hundred of years, they’d try anything in their might to avert similar calamities in the near future.
There’s none to fear for the moment – or at least, that’s what she whole-heartedly wished to believe. No one would’ve, after all, expected that about twenty percentage of Wall Maria would fall into the hands of the Titans so rapidly within half of a day so completely out of the blue. It could happen again. At any time … & any day. That is, perhaps, what everyone { & especially the ones who’d survived the first few attacks & were forced to watch all of these horrific, traumatizing sceneries first-hand } will bear in mind for a whole damn while, if they’d wish to forget or not. Though, what about him? What could possibly be so harrowing about the change of forces that he’s so thrown off the track like that? Was it a personal matter? Something family related? & why did he question his physical attendance coupled with their current geologic era?
Petra’s unable to make head nor tail of his weird jabbering & silently decides that it perhaps would be for the best to aid him first before attending to ask any more question. They burn to be released like a wildfire upon the back of her tongue, sting with the sharpness of a knife, but his health definitely takes priority. Concerned as she is, she inches closer, a part of her wishing to know a precise way to ease his rattled mind while a slim, by bite marks lined, petite hand finds a place to settle upon his padded shoulder, a frantic & probably fruitless try to convey a little tad of comfort. He’s wearing quite the neat suit, as she realized fairly late, by the way. Could he, by any chance, be one of the higher-ups? She wonders …
❛ Okay, I won’t ask you again, nor for your permission because it is obvious that you’re far from being fine and definitely not in your right state of mind. I’ll take you to one of our specialists, I’m sure they’re capable to help you out. It’s probably … for the best. Y O U R best. ❜
The suggestion had been perceived and it just sounded like something she might would say to anybody that seemed out of place and somehow not in the right state of mind just the way [ he ] did right now. It all fit perfectly together. Of course, being a profiler that worked for one of the, if debatably, m i g h t i e s t companies in the world, he’s still not a mind reader that flawlessly could sift through thoughts and actions of others just to filter their future behavior. But he’s talented to somehow rudimentarily estimate their characteristics before even knowing them longer than a day nonetheless. Or at least, most of his behaviroal forecasts he’d established in the past were truthful fourscore. And she was [ definitely ] the kind of human that harbored none but only the greatest and kindest of intentions there were.
Admirable on all possible levels -- yet not any less dangerous. Not that Jayden would ever consider such a thing ever but he [ could ] practise on her goodwill, use her beneficial side solely for his own, personal gains just to let her drop completely in the end. It’d take a lot for him to confide into strangers so easily, though she apparently saw something good in everyone around. ...and at this point of thought, he immediately started to think about his [ pathetic ] situation once again, wandering with questions that threatened to tear him apart, answers a blank page inside his mind. She’d offered him help and he should be wise enough to accept it for everything would be better than an endless seeming grope in the dark.
It took him a while to ponder his options, but he eventually opted for her inquiry; the w i s e s t decision he’d made today, apparently.
“Alright, fine. I’ll follow you to your hideout and accept the treatment you’re willing to give me. ‘s all I can do right now anyway, right?”
