Elwes, asked which role he has enjoyed the most, said he enjoys them all and thatās why he does them.āBut I have to say the one that is probably going to stay with me for the rest of my life is āThe Princess Bride.ā It will say āas you wishā on my tombstone. Billy Crystal said the other side of the tombstone should say āmostly dead.āāā

they donāt tell you what anxious impulsivity looks like.Ā
when people imagine anxiety, they always imagine risk averse behavior. you overthink, youāre deliberate, your thinking is catastrophic, and youāre always thinking through seventeen possible scenarios in which things can go wrong.Ā
but sometimes youāre so anxious and things feel so horrible that you do things without thinking because you want the bad feelings to stop. you say something stupid in a group chat, so you immediately leave all of your servers and block your friends so that you donāt have to see the aftermath. youāre unsure about your relationship, so you break up with your partner out of nowhere or you wake up one morning and just decide to ghost them so you donāt have to deal with it anymore. youāre uncomfortable at a party with people you donāt know, so you run outside and take the train home at 3am without realizing how dangerous that is because you just need to leave.Ā
your anxiety can get so bad that, in an attempt to feel safe and secure, you canāt predict what youāll do next.Ā
This helps me understand my anxious/impulsive child.
No offense but I get livid when people love to talk about how God is evil or unjust or wicked due to the cases when He exercises His judgment as if the Bible isnāt full of instances of HUMANS doing the most absolute evilest things. Like the OT is full of civilizations where people legit SACRIFICED PEOPLE. Even in the case of the flood, the Bible explicitly talks about how EVIL the world was. This isnāt God getting angry because āuwu people are not paying attention to meā. This is legit āwow, you people are evil and I am pleading with you to stopā. The flood was Godās judgement on EVIL PEOPLE. People love to ignore how God warns and exhorts people to follow His commandments because it will be GOOD for them. People love to forget how God loves things pure, holy, sanctified because that is how they were originally. God isnāt the cranky conservative father who doesnāt like it when you play your hippy rock music really loud in your bedroom. He is not being unreasonable. He is the stern but loving father who wants the best for you. See the whole structure of the Bible essentially gives one message. We were created to be good and then WE, YES WE, AS IN US HUMANS, rebelled against God and God, through Israel, continued His reconciliation with humanity. By Jesus Christ, we are no longer slaves to our innate sinful nature but can now be reconciled with the Father. Again, stop treating God as this unreasonable controlling entity. When you are the Creator of the Universe, you are by default Judge. Who are we, humans who love to lie, backstab, gossip, ignore people to their faces, to judge an omnipotent BEING that honestly could have ignored us millenia ago but is constantly in pursuit of us. Come on. Who are we?
Also, I would like to point out that Noah preached while making the Arc ALL THE PEOPLE HAD TO DO WAS GET ON! God provided a way out yet no one listened. He wants us to be his and endlessly pursues us. Itās our own fault if we donāt hop onto the boat.
Remember Jonah? Everybody knows about the whale, but everyone forgets that God told him, āHey, you know your mortal enemies? I want them saved from destruction. I pick you to go tell them to repent, and if they do, I will not destroy them.ā
Jonah ended up in the whale because he *wanted* the Israelitesā enemies destroyed, and God wouldnāt have it. He bolted and God caused a storm so bad that Jonah told the people on the ship to throw him overboard.
And instead of killing Jonah, God had a giant whale catch him and carry him back to land.
Jonah gave in and preached to his enemies, and they all, from the king to the slaves, repented. And all were saved. God even told off Jonah for wanting them to die.
Yeah - the Prophet Jonah complains because he knew God wouldnāt destroy Ninevah. Likewise, Abraham knows Him so well that a valley of five cities filled with evil men will be spared because of ten righteous people in a population easily into the hundreds of thousands. (heck, Sodom and Gomorrah would likely still be around today if there had been ten, but unfortunatelyā¦)
I've been having fun in the gardens this summer. The pond area is looking pretty. The impatients and rose bush areas are coming along. I need ideas for the last area. It is really long, shady and fairly shallow.
every so often i remember how the finale made lucy preston, a sworn disciple of the steve rogers āwe donāt trade livesā school of heroism, shrug and say āeh, good enoughā at getting rufus back in place of flynn, refuse to get her sister back because it might be kinda difficult, and then actively manipulate her own timeline so these things stay true, and lemme tell you, i want to scream
it has been almost seven months lads, safe to say i will absolutely die mad about it
Rittenhouseās most lethal sleeper agent of them all.
Hi, yes, can we talk about Lucyās drawings? The litte sketches in her journal that illustrate moments in history? I canāt find the photo, but in the first episode Flynn is seen with the journal and thereās drawings of the moon landing in it. Just headcaonnoning here, but maybe art a way for her to practice self love. By doing something that doesnāt affect the war, is just for her, and because she simply enjoys it, it helps ground her and be a reminder that she doesnāt have to work all the time.
Lucyās gotten quite good in her opinion but never shows her art to ANYONE because Carol got into her head at a young age that ādoodling isnāt important and she isnāt good enough at it to persue. Best just stick to history, itās what youāre good at dear.ā That is one of the reasons she believed Flynn stole the journal at first. Because she would NEVER share that piece of herself with anyone. It was Sacred and Hers.
Now that she sleeps in the bunker living room, Lucy only draws in the dead of night when every one is asleep. Flynn walks in once while Lucyās drawing, hunched over the table, biting her lip, homemade paper shaders scattered on the table as she concentrates. Flynn brews an extra cup of tea while heās there, studiously ignoring how she closes the note book sheās been using so he wonāt see. He leaves her a cup without saying anything. Lucy doesnāt know how to react so she stays quite. And also, how does Flynn always find her when sheās trying to hide?
Lucy starts to find art supplies from different time periods (Antiques! Should she even use them? Maybe she should mail them to the Smithsonian?) set out on the dinning table (in very ocd order) and sheās just ???????? No one knows where their from and who even knows she likes to draw? Oh wait, who has the social skills of a cat dropping off dead mice and has actually seen her art? Of course itās him
When her birthday roles around nobody notices and really, what is the point? Sheās not even sure how old she is with all the time travel and dose it even matter? Sheās about to settle into her ābed,ā another disappointing birthday past, when Flynn comes in with a present wrapped in brown paper (once again perfectly semetrical.) Lucy takes it and can tell itās some sort of book and if he bought her a fucking journal...
But itās a sketch book and she once again has no idea know what to say. He doesnāt ask her to share her art or why she does it, just tells her to make good use of it and he hopes she likes it. He turns to go, heās said his pice, but suddenly thereās small arms incircling his waist and he freezes. Lucy presses her cheek to Flynnās back and she thinks heās the most consistent thing in her life.
When all is said and done, Lucy never fills the journal from her mother with words. Itās pages are plump and creased like the one Flynn once held as a bible, but not with grim plans for battle. No, thereās pictures of her team from when Jiya snuck her phone onto missions. Thereās half finished illustrations of birds in motion, nolonger seen in Virginia forests. Chalk colorings of long forgotten Native America ceremonies.
But mostly, thereās sketches of a lost sister getting her black belt and making a podcast while baking cookies. Her father, mixing cocoa for her as she does the homework Carol assigned her. And her partner, in a soft turtle neck with a matching soft smile, drinking coffee, way to chipper for six in the morning. Him sitting at Lexington and Concord, tired but happy with the Hepatica she gave him behind his ear (And damn him, he was the perfect mixture of adorable and attractive with that uniform and flower.) Him and that kitten who was feral to everyone except him that he managed to sneak into the bunker (Denice loved that.)
And just maybe itās ok if Lucyās art is just for herself.
āāā
I have a lot of feelings about Lucy drawing and Flynn being supportive but not intrusive. Letting her have privacy and being ok if she never decides to share it with him. He loves her for who she is and if she wants to keep something for herself after fate as wripped everything else away? Thatās just fine with him.
Credits to the artists who did the beautiful sketches pictured above.
Also, I know sentence should not start with And/But...but I donāt care š

āYou do not become a Christian by going to church, getting baptized, and keeping the rules. You become a Christian by despairing of your own righteousness, your own worthiness, and throwing yourself like a helpless person on Christ for his righteousness and his forgiveness and his mercy.ā
ā John Piper
I will never not love their smiles in this episode.
Heās all happily laughing before she even answers, like, āmission accomplished!ā because he made her smile, and that was the real point.
you know that saying, āwhat they donāt know wonāt kill them?ā
well, in a spiritual sense, yes⦠it actually will.
if we donāt tell people the good news of Jesus⦠how He loves them and died for them⦠and they never hear the truthāwe may not be killing them, but we are allowing their soul to perish without effort on our part.
now, you canāt force people to follow Christ. you canāt force them to believe. but, you can still share the gospel in love and truth. and in the end, at least you tried and were obedient to the Lord.
letās get over ourselves, our fears, our doubts, and whatever else holds us back, and letās tell people how much God loves them.

Dyslexia is real.
My daughter just finished 8th grade. She was helping her sister practice for a lifeguarding test. She could not read the acronym SAMPLE but had no issue rattling off cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Dyslexia is interesting.
