The Bluest Rick (& subsequently, the Biggest Rick)

This is not exactly a frame-by-frame analysis, but I wanted to revisit this again after my original post got a lot of people’s gears turning!

In my video, I first entered “M-O-R-T-Y”, but as we can see, it didn’t match up with the keys on a QUERTY keyboard whatsoever. It’s easy to tell because R, T, and Y should be right next to each other.

Next, I entered “D-I-A-N-E”, which takes my finger from the LEFT to the RIGHT (continued) until I’ve pressed 5 keys. Rick starts by hitting a key on his RIGHT and then LEFT (continued) instead, but his finger does seem to travel in about a similar manner. D-I-A-N-E seems much closer! If it weren’t for the flipped perspective of the keyboard we have in this shot, it might really have been what he typed.

And why he’s only entering keys from the middle row of the keyboard? is beyond me… Is he actually just entering gibberish? XD What password could you even enter that’s 5 letters using “ASDFGHJKL” and is sprawled out across the keyboard in the pattern he entered it? 😆 Did Rick completely forgo all logic, in exchange for typing with intention, hoping that force alone is going to grant him access to his computer in his useless stupor? …Probably, yes 😂. Now that we know he is absolutely PLASTERED here, this would check out XD.

This post is rather useless XD because I also can’t assume Rick uses a QUERTY keyboard, he might just have an alien desktop interface similar to the Virtual Rickality game. There’s no visible printing on any of the keys in the animation (even when zoomed in), and besides it’s only animation anyway…

BUT, I know that Rick and Morty loves to go a step (or three) further than other adult animated shows, by throwing in lots of small details that really serve to ground the main cast of characters. Sometimes, they just interact with their environment in very believable ways that build on their personalities (like Rick holding his pinky out often or stimming) or really serve to express how they think.

I mean, did you see how many different password attempts Rick tried? He even pressed backspace on one of the attempts, and they all seemed to be a different length, really intricate for a small scene! (And that’s why I’m analyzing it lol. I love this show XD.) Either something really crucial came to his mind before when he made his final attempt, or it was just something like poopdick 😆
