Omega is staring. Openly.

And he has not stopped staring since he sat down in this old, creaking desk chair.

Alpha has not noticed. Of course he has not, he has had his hands busy since they got into the workshop. But even if he did notice, he would not say anything. This is their first day off that has aligned in any recent memory, and Omega happily came with him while he took the time to fiddle with the Ministry cars that needed tending to. He his perfectly content letting him stare as much as he wants as long as he stays right where he is.

Omega cannot complain about this arrangement. He got to sleep in. Now he gets to watch Alpha drip sweat down his back in a tank top that is worse for his heart than if he was just shirtless. He gets to see an Alpha he has not seen in such a long time. The one he shared the stage with, the one that moved with nothing short of total confidence and concentration. Because if he is going to do the work, then it is going to be absolutely perfect.

His hands move with the same precision as they did over his guitar. He never hesitates, he knows exactly what he is doing. His brow is furrowed, not in its usual scowl, this is something unconscious. This is a broadcast of every thought and calculation working its way through his head, puzzling out the best course of action to get his desired results. His muscles flex with the effort to unscrew some metal thing inside the engine, a bit softer now with age and retirement, but still proof of how much he is putting in.

Omega missed this Alpha. He wants to keep this Alpha to himself for as long as possible.

"You should come take a break, dear. It's my day off as well, I'm not meant to be playing doctor," Omega calls over the music crackling through the radio.

Alpha flicks the nob with his tail, turning it down. "Then don't. I've worked longer in hotter weather."

"Alpha," Omega says flatly.

He looks up over the hood of the car, catching his violet eyes. He holds the burn of his molten gaze. A silent conversation, a battle of wills. Electric the same way it was under blinding lights with the thump of bass in their ribs.

And just like back then, Alpha loses.

He sighs, rolls his eyes, and tosses his wrench down on the table behind him. He grabs a nearby rag, stained from years of use, and wipes his hands off as he walks over.

"You know, I was almost finished. Now we're going to be stuck here for longer." Alpha picks up his water bottle.

Omega watches him unscrew it. Watches him bring it to his lips. Watches the way his throat bobs as he gulps it down.

He hums. "Oh, I don't mind."

Alpha sighs out a held breath, raising an eyebrow at Omega. He does not let him get far with whatever thought he has. He stands from his chair and motions for Alpha to take it.

"Sit."

"Megs. Really, I'm fine. I had a drink, I can get back to work."

"Yes, but you're filthy."

Alpha gives him a look. One that says yeah, no shit.

Omega tsks, finding himself a relatively clean towel. "Oh hush. It will be easier to scrub the gunk off you if it's not packed in layers." He finds a spare unopened plastic water bottle. He dumps about half of it onto the part of the towel that does not have a huge stain on it, letting it soak. He crowds into Alpha's space, daring him to not fall back. "Let me do my work."

Alpha puffs smoke tinged air through his nose. But he does slump into the chair. "Day off my ass. Weren't you supposed to be relaxing?"

"I am." Omega gently scrubs at an oil smear on his cheek.

Alpha cannot look up at him. He knows what he will see if he does, so he stares at the few curls of chest hair peaking out from Omega's low collar.

I'm sorry to the Mountain fans with high expectations 😔 Like the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I just cleaned up his design because I got better at drawing figures. The only difference is the tag that I placed on him for a headcanon, where he tried to run away when Terzo got replaced so the clergy tagged him to keep track of his whereabouts and also a warning for the other ghouls.

For Aurora, I mentioned in my old post that she and Phantom looked alike. They didn't, so I fixed that. It also better ties into why she keeps having all these accessories, because she wants to have her own individuality without Phantom (hooray for angst).
