halloween, 1990. the night everything tore. six slayers stood on a football field and faced something that shouldn't exist. six townspeople died. one slayer went through the gate to close it and didn't come back. the remaining five fractured, scattered by grief, guilt, and the particular violence of surviving something nobody else can see. the town buried it. the slayers buried each other.

it's summer 1996, and the signs are back. lights flickering. animals gutted in spirals. children whispering in dead languages. and then, without warning, the sixth slayer returns after six years in the void, wrong in ways that are difficult to name, carrying something back with them that should have stayed below.

the hunger is waking up. the gate is thinning. and the five slayers who spent six years trying to become something other than what they are have to find their way back to each other — and to the one who came back wrong — before the boundary breaks entirely.

the clock is ticking. the tether is sparking. and friendship, it turns out, is harder to raise from the grave than prophecy.

Novigrad is no longer the free city it once was. With mages being purged across the Continent, the cult of the Eternal Fire has seized control with the promise to protect, yet the streets are filled with executions and paranoia. Mages and nonhumans are vanishing overnight or being forced into hiding, and anyone suspected of defying the Fire risks burning at its hand.

But in the pit of the city's underbelly, rebellion is brewing amongst survivors. Some of the remaining mages have formed the Lodge of Sorceresses in secret to gather numbers and plot their resurgence. The gangs who once ruled Novigrad — the Tidecloaks, the Syndicate and the Blindeyes — are ready to tear the city from the Eternal Fire's grasp.
