I'mma be honest, even with how mad I am with world building, I had not thought THIS far. Though I will also point out, brushing your teeth with paste is a relatively modern invention, while there are instances of historical toothbrushes and pastes here and there, brushing your teeth didn't get popular in Europe until the 1700s. Reaching adulthood with all your teeth, for most of human history, has been rare.

Eh, maybe the nether trees just have a ton of xylitol, and piglins chew on twigs, that's appropriately old-timey for a medieval-ish fantasy.

Not really, unfortunately. I'm, shall we say, between fandoms, haven't found anything that obsesses my brain enough to make me wanna write. I'd like to try my hand at original fiction, but in order to write a story one needs a story first.

All life forms need some level of hydration, regular piglins can just get enough liquid from eating nether plants. Piglins of wealth and/or who live near portals can get water "imported" from the Overworld, it's tastier. Techno is in the middle, he has a camel-like hardiness compared to a human but is a wilting flower compared to a full piglin.

Can't give you a date unfortunately, but it's coming rest assured! It's in editing, there just is a lot of real life going on these days and unfortunately that takes priority ^^'

In my native language, pet is written as "宠物", which means "a pampered object" (and has a clear meaning of being lower in status than humans). So when Techno explained Philza's status as "pet" in Bloodboon, I was shocked because it was barely better than the previous adjective.

No, it's even worse than "concubine", because calling a human a pet in my native language is a huge insult, which means completely depriving the other person of all basic rights and status as a human being, and shows complete disrespect on the part of the speaker. You can think of it as the equivalent of calling someone a "bitch", but in a less sweary way.

So I just stared in disbelief as Techno called Philza a "pet" and claimed that it wasn't that bad, until a few paragraphs later I realized that calling a person a pet might not be as strong an insult in other languages. Then I laughed out loud, it was so funny, luckily Philza doesn't speak Chinese, otherwise he would definitely punch Techno in the eye XD

Oh man, had sorta a similar experience once- You see, in english, "pet" can be used as a term of endearment, like "honey" or "sweetie". I did not know this when a character in a book asked her sister "Are you alright, pet?" or somesuch, and I was like. Did you just call your sister a dog???? But from the context it was evident it wasn't an insult, so I looked it up.

Language is wonderful.

Want some awesome free life advice? Don't try to draw a boar skull mask from a downward angle when you're not familiar with the angle and the boar skull, it won't bring happiness. Okay, just kidding, I'm fine, Techno's good looks definitely make up for all the mental damage, I haven't thrown myself out of the window yet, it's totally worth it, he's so beautiful :D

I promise this is not the final result, I just wanted to send it to you first. Since you said last time that you like to see how the drawing is refined, I attached the draft here.

While drawing the draft, I thought: since Techno said he was hungry when he was a gladiator, he might actually look thinner, and even after becoming a king, he just became healthier and stronger due to his busy work, and is actually still thin.

While drawing the mask, I found something in the reference that I thought was interesting: the boar has tusks on both the upper and lower jaws. I didn't know this before, and thought that only the lower jaw had tusks, and considering that the mask was probably made from a boar's upper jaw skull, I thought I couldn't add tusks.

After discovering that boars also have tusks on their upper jaws, I immediately added them to the mask design, which is cool, you always learn unexpected knowledge when drawing :D

Then I thought of a joke: considering that piglins have a tradition of long hair, the easiest way for them to distinguish between male and female is probably to observe the tusks. Boars have thicker and more curved tusks, while sows have shorter tusks. This is the easiest way to distinguish between adults.

However, since Techno is a mixed-race, his tusks are very small. This often makes him mistaken for a girl or a young man (considering that the difference between male and female piglins is only a difference in features, this is not discrimination, just embarrassing), like, when he was in the arena, the office staff would look at him with very suspicious eyes, wondering if he was a minor.

When he was younger, Techno might have been annoyed by this, and now he has given up on explaining it tiredly, well, the mask helped save a lot of explanation.

I think Techno's boots are a very special feature for Piglins. Shoes are not a necessity for Piglins, they have thick enough stratum corneum on the soles of their feet to replace shoes, and the harsh environment of the Nether makes it impossible to wear ordinary shoes to walk outside. So for Piglins, wearing shoes may be a protective armor for the feet in battle when fully armed, a show-off for the rich, or a symbol of status.

For Techno, he is very lucky, because not only does he have a pair of feet adapted to walking in the Nether (although not completely fireproof like other pureblooded Piglins), but he also has a pair of more flexible ankles and knees than other Piglins, which is an advantage of human hybrids (Piglins will hardly admit this) and helps him win in the arena.

Also a little story for this:

Techno's first pair of shoes was a gift from Thornwhip, because gladiators have almost no property of their own. Techno cherished them so much that he was almost reluctant to wear them to fight, which was ridiculed by Thornwhip, saying that he was too soft. Techno was not a king at that time, so it was no problem. Those shoes are still in Techno's shoe cabinet, and he still can't bear to wear them.

Techno did wear those boots when he challenged Ashthorn to a duel, which was almost his only decent outfit.

Oh, heck yeah! Such momentum in the cape! And again enjoying the thought put into design choices, yeah man, he would've been pretty skinny and have "girly" tusks! And now I'm enjoying the general idea that to call a piglin manly you'd complement their tusks. Ah, world building is fun.

Since Techno is a good king, I think there will actually be more people who love him, but they don't usually appear in court. To be honest, I hope to see a scene where the people who love Techno stand up to defend Techno one day: maybe some jerk tries to disrespect Techno in public, but at this time suddenly ordinary people stand up and say: No, you don't deserve to talk to our king like this, he saved the country from the last old jerk, we won't let you be rude to him.

Or maybe his advisors will spend more time with phiza and learn about the knowledge of the upper world from philza (of course, this learning can be mutual), thus changing the traditional cognition of the pig people to some extent? I know that pigs are more about force than knowledge, but philza is good at fighting too :) Maybe they will consider philza's opinion more out of respect for the strong, when they realize that their king techno is actually the only one who can possibly defeat philza (although the previous training has proved this, I think there is still room for improvement from respecting philza's fighting skills to respecting philza's personality and wisdom)

If this will hinder your plans, then would you consider creating a spin-off or sequel? For example, what if the piglins and the Antarctic Empire established a stable trade because of the friendship between techno and philza? What if techno didn't need to run away, but phil proved his strength and willingness to form an alliance to the underworld people to "redeem" himself? How would philza's children meet and get along with techno (sorry, the thought of phil having to explain in front of the children "new family member, cool. Yes, technically he kidnapped me, but we are best friends now" makes me laugh so hard that my stomach hurts. Tommy might try to grab techno's hair and mess himself up. Then one day techno will shock everyone with the fact that he can actually play the violin). Or maybe we get to see the Blood God and the Angel of Death fighting side by side, that would be really cool. Did Techno's advisory board get to meet Philza's family? They're like, "I don't know why that boring lantern/old man suddenly made friends, but we like this."

Although the piglins like violence and looting, they are not completely uncommunicative, right? If Philza can gain the trust of the piglins and even establish a stable trade relationship, such as the Antarctic Empire providing food and the piglins providing minerals, and the two sides exchanging materials for making potions and prey, it may be able to change the piglins' looting habits to a certain extent (Vikings do have a history of doing business). Trust is the hardest to gain, but if there is such a chance, people will definitely prefer to obtain supplies through trade rather than wars with the risk of losing their lives.

Okay, I admit that since Techno has had a hard time for so many years, I hope he can at least have a good reputation. The piglins obviously have people who love him, and I hope they don't say goodbye forever, which would be a pity.

As for the Antarctic Empire, I have no doubt that the first thing Philza does when he returns with Techno is kick some ass and say: Surprise! The free vacation is over, it's time for a cleanup!

Seriously, if I trade a whole set of fanart and any fanart you two want, (since I haven't drawn animation before, I'm not sure if animation is an option, but I'm willing to try) can we make everyone - Techno and Philza, the advisors, the kids, the Endermen, and even their people - have a big family portrait happy ending? Can we? (puppy wink). I can even draw wedding photos of all their couples!

Well, I'm definitely planning on drawing something anyway. This world is too interesting to miss.

Yep! Previously "less than 40" was simply an estimate, but we can actually confirm it now as the remainder of the fic is mostly written! We're on the final stretch!! And don't worry, it hasn't been rushed either. Everything is happening as planned (excluding post delays, but sometimes real life needs prioritized sorry).

I'm glad everyone has been enjoying the story so much and agree there is potential for other stories within the same universe. However, Bloodboon, as it has been presented, is all we have. There are currently no plans for a sequel or additional spin-offs. Instead Anchestor plans to move onto other projects after this one, which hopefully you will all enjoy just as much!

Anyone with their own ideas is encouraged to write their own stories! Fanfic of Bloodboon is absolutely allowed!! We would love to read it too, so don't hesitate to tag us; we're proud that we can inspire others to create <3

That said, please don't feel obligated to create for us, just as we are not obligated to continue longer than we want to. This is a passion project born of fun, so let's keep it that way: If you want to draw, then draw! If you want to write, then write! We would love to see it! But don't let us tell you what to do, only create what you want to create.
