1. Get your portfolio done, or mostly done before senior year. You don’t want any of your work to seem last minute, so get it done early. I’d recommend to look at college requirements early also. Just in case they have special requests for your portfolio.

2. Work your craft, but remember to work on the basics. If you want to be an illustrator you should illustrate, but also look at drawing basics. Aka life studies. It really helps you grow, and try to make it fun with materials, or the subject matter. Do anything from a pencil still life to a crayon sketch of your cat walking around.

Stuff I recommend to draw per day for your life studies

- person, or an animal something moving

- plants

- buildings

If you do one study per day of each you will see so much progress!

3. Have fun! If you aren’t having fun stop doing it. You should love what you are doing, so take breaks, read, hang with friends. School is stressful, so take care of yourself.
