The three words that make people look at me like I've just told them I have a collection of stuffed dead toads in my wardrobe. The three words that follow make me feel like there's something wrong with me. 'Not at all?' No, not at all. People look at me with pity like I'm some sad little creature that's been hit by a car on the side of the road. The next three words make me feel like the sad little creature that's been hit by a car on the side of the road. 'You poor thing' Sometimes I wish I could drink, so I could join in the tedious conversations about the time you got so drunk you were sick all over yourself or you passed out or got in a fight outside a shit club. Or I could take a picture of a fry up and Instagram it as a hangover cure on a Sunday morning. If I drank I could be the one leaving rambling voicemails at 334 am instead of getting them. People depend on alcohol to have a good time and it's difficult not being able to experience why going out and getting shit faced every Saturday night is so popular. It pisses me off that people think I'm boring as soon as they hear the words 'I don't drink'. It's frustrating not being able to understand why everything is so hilarious when you've had too many cocktails. People think it's just a choice and it's not, alcohol makes me seriously ill. 'Don't you want to try, not even a little sip'. Some people literally can't get it into their thick skulls that I can't drink. I'm the sober person at every occasion, watching everyone get drunk and make tits of themselves. I'm ok with not drinking, it's just everyone else who makes me feel like there's something wrong with me and make me feel like a bad person because I can't drink. I'm not the one with the horrendous hangover that ruins weekends or sick stains down my favourite dress.
