â a TERRIFYING sneeze, i assume, â he snickers, instinctively putting his head over hers as if to help extinguish it. as he feels the warmth, he realizes what heâs done and quickly takes his hand back, his cheeks WARMING just as his hand had just done. â i wouldnât ever think it was dangerous. i mean, obviously with what i just did i think quite the OPPOSITE but youâll find a new family in time, right ? you always have a place here with me. â
ââoh, it MUSTâVE been.â despite it being a sour memory, she still manages to laugh; itâs so easy to be open with gilbert, much easier than sheâd ever anticipated. sheâs shaken from the softness of the moment when his hand rests over hers, though lee says nothing. the witch is afraid that if she does, it may make things awkward, may force them both to acknowledge she fears this is steadily turning into.
ââŚi suppose. itâs just been lava and i for a while now. iâve found that itâs just⌠simpler. being on my own.â
he understands what she means in her response, yet there is a TWINGE of selfish attachment in his chest he canât put into words. though she had been here with him, maybe it was SIMPLER for her without him. hearing what she had been doing on her own with lava at her side, he wondered often of why she chose to spend so much time with him TIED to one place. â i can see that. do you miss it ? traveling around with her ? â he looks back to the fire for a moment. â if you ever go again ... iâd love to come along. thereâs a big world out there, and iâm JEALOUS of you. i havenât ever really left the island. â
acescapedâ:
while she knows that heâs probably kidding, and she should never admit it out loud, there is some pride that comes with knowing that he doesnât want to avoid her. itâs also kind of nice to know that sheâs not alone in the way that she feels. that, while their exact reasons for avoiding everyone are a little different, thereâs someone else that canât always handle the cafeteria. maybe itâs not a huge deal, but he has managed to bring a smile to her face.
âiâd like it if you did sit with me.â she finally says. sheâd never really been planning on asking him to leave in the first place, honestly. while she only knew him from class, he didnât seem to be the type to disturb peace and quiet anyways. he just kind of seemed⌠nice. which was more than could be said about some of the other students here.Â
âi have decided that you seem like good company, gilbert. so you now have permission to sit at the most exclusive lunch table.â at this point, her book has been closed and forgotten. she actually wants to talk to him. how strange. âiâm rejecting applications every week. you should be lucky.â
his face brightens at her acceptance, grabbing for his tea and bag to make his way over to her table. there was something REASSURING about her smile. it made him feel much better than everyone who waited to walk him to his next class or tried to catch him after school to go home together. this was the first time he had asked someone to do something with him rather than him being with someone against his will. he feels WARM. he sits down on the other side of the table, having made a careful decision about which seat to take ( a four sided table. does he sit next to her ? maybe that was too CLOSE. across was a safe bet ). was he thinking into this too much ? POSSIBLY. â well, i am happy about your decision and iâd like some kind of award to commemorate my addition to this EXCLUSIVE table, â he nods his head, setting down his things in front of him. â with this luck maybe everything else will turn around too. but we can only HOPE. â gilbertâs eyes move toward the things in front of her. â so, what do you usually do ? at this exclusive lunch table. â
eternlleâ:
her brows arch up, amusement in her bright eyes.  true, lunch hadnât been on her agenda today  â  sheâd planned on window - shopping, to admire the obscenely expensive gowns she can suddenly afford.   ( she is still getting used to her brotherâs fortune weighing down her purse  ;  while evelyn would give it all back to have charles with her for a few more years, heâs left her generously set up for a few lifetimes, if she doesnât squander it all on foolish things. )  tea seems like a better investment than dresses, at any rate.
with a nod, she turns, gesturing for him to follow along.     â of course i can show you!  itâs only a few minutes walk âŚÂ  and if youâve any more crimes to confess to on the way, iâd be happy to hear them.  anything more scandalous than tourist? â
as she gestures and walks a bit away, leaving him in his place, gilbert takes up a slow jog to catch up. â thank you ! donât know anyone here, might as well make a FRIEND along the way. â he grips his bag strap to keep it from swinging against his leg. â hm ... thatâs a good question, â he muses. â well, i just showed up here without a plan. no place to stay, just got off a boat and decided to stay awhile. is that SCANDALOUS ? what were you up to before i interrupted your day ? â

â mâmy âŚâŚ. my eâ-eyes ? â
oh golly , why ever would he say such a thing ? are the eyes something one compliments someone on ?
â i âŚ.. oâoh mâ-my âŚâŚÂ â she has not a clue what to say to this , though it is ever so kind. her eyes âŚâŚâŚ
â gâgoodâgoodness , tâ-thank you , sir. sâ-sincerâ-sincerely. â she responds after a moment or so.
did she say the same back ?
â was that WEIRD ? that was probably weird. â it had come out unexpectedly. he hadnât meant to BLURT IT out as quickly as he had. gilbert pulls his hands together in front of him to keep himself from being too JITTERY ? why had he said that ? she seems okay with it. â uh, yeah, no problem. SORRY about that, donât know where it came from. â

GILBERTâ:
â wâwell , hâhearâhearing it sâsaid aâaloâaloud does not sâseem the âŚ.. sâseems fâfoolâfoolish. â valerie explains , though she doesnât use her hands to gesture about as she sometimes would , her grasp tightly around her book that could look oddly suspicious , like she had some secrets she wished to keep a secret , or something that she was fiercely protective over.
she keeps her eyes down on the ground , tuning into the chattering of the room around them , how everyone is much more comfortable in this setting than she is , and how they openly speak to each other and laugh without holding anything back.Â
what would that be like ?Â
to say something in the open and not have to first process it into a filter that made her water down everything and barely get anything out when she opened her mouth ?
and then there was this gentleman , the other only perosn that was not engaged with the whole of the activity around them , but focusing on carrying on a conversation with her , and she feels horrible for him.
if she could say anything about herself , it would be that interactions were not something she was âŚ..
skilled at.
if she had been , as he had been , blunt , she might have asked if he was in his right mind , if his mental state was okay and not off kilter , if he thought that she would be the best option for interaction. she did appreciates this , and she did find the chance to be among her fellow peers to be a change , though it was so odd to her , and she had not a clue how to even move forward.
â to be honest , the context of it all and the setting is one of the few things i can go off on to know what i should do right now âŚ.. â
no , she would never say that. if they were going to be in this dialogue , she would do what she could to allow him to speak as much as he desired , and she would just listen as long as he wants her to.
that would put her more at ease.
â not to be aâ-argumâargumentative , sir , hâhowevâ-however , to kâknow the câconâcontext on tâthis , it hâhelps wâwith âŚ.. â
golly , even when she said she wouldnât say something , she did it anyway. Â was she really going to admit that she is such a shut in that she does not even have a clue how to interact with people in any capacity ?
but now that she is looking at him , both their gazes meeting , there is something she sees in them that calls out to her as being more understanding than many.
it feels nice to be noticed , even if before she would have done anything to melt into the wall or be simply a fixture in the room.
she believes that is called a wallflower ?
â a wâwalk wâwould be lâlovâlovely âŚ. if yâyou wâwish to , i mâmean , yâyou did oâoffâoffer , hâhowâhowever âŚâŚÂ â
she sighs and shakes her head , semi defeated in this. at the mention of her book , she curls it in her arms even tighter.
â if yâyou wâwould like. â
she responds , as again , for some odd reason , she feels like she is able to confide in him
and his kind eyes.
he stares at her patiently, a smile on his face to be ENCOURAGING. he waits for her to finish her sentence, her thoughts, as she trails off mid-thought. she seems to have a lot on her mind as she considers his words. at her agreement to his invitation, gilbert PUSHES himself gently off the wall, rounding his feet out and around to face her. he offers her his hand, nodding his head down slightly. â great ! of course i wish to. as you said, WHY ELSE WOULD I ASK ? â looking at her arms in a STRONGHOLD on her own book, he lowers his hand. she probably wants to keep that close to her, and hanging on to gilbert as they walk would BAR her from that. â iâm sure we can talk a lot on the walk, and if youâd like, feel free to show me your NOTES. âÂ
alwaysxtryingâ:
âItâs been so strange without you around all the time. Not that I donât wish you well with your new studies and your devotion to medicine but your absence has certainly been felt.â She couldnât help the flutter in her chest at that smile, a smile that she could have sworn she hadnât seen him give anyone else. âI had to come fetch some medicine for Marilla. Would you walk with me? I could use the company.â And she didnât know this place well, not as well as Gilbert. He was so close. What she wouldnât give to take his arm, to feel his warmth against her.Â
âItâs been cold, donât you think? But with the cold will soon come snow and I think itâs delightful to see the world through a new frosty lens, donât you?â
her words widen his eyes. he had never realized how much his presence was known to her. he smiles at her ENCOURAGINGLY, nodding his head. â oh donât worry about that at all. your absence is felt as well. â gilbert keeps his face calm, however, his mind is already asking itself if that was something that should have been said. TOO OBVIOUS ? â iâd love to walk with you. i canât even remember what i was going to do before this. seems youâve ERASED my memory. â he offers her his arm. â might look a bit strange if we walk together unattached. people might ask questions later. â an excuse to touch anne ? possibly. it was refreshing to hear anne speak as she usually does. he doesnât know anyone else who would talk about the cold and the snow in such a LOVING MANNER. with how excited he feels about suddenly meeting her, he feels as if all his body can do is walk and nod. â of course. but only if youâre around to describe it to me in the way that you always do. iâm generally not a fan of the cold, but you may be able to convince me OTHERWISE. â

Hanging her head back with a groan, Ava makes a face. âThat doesnât help!â Well, maybe it did. That made one vegetable stand out. ââŚDid you get potatoes?â What else would be so versatile? âIf you got potatoes, I hope you know that I am going to enjoy digging them up.â Not to mention the composting she could do with them after⌠Really, itâd be a great planting all around.Â
She pauses in her jumping down the steps, sticking her tongue out at him as he elbows her. âI am nice. Usually. You guys are just really nice.â Much nicer than some of the foster families had been, and who practically knocked her current foster mother out of the ballpark. âDo you think youâll go back to your parents house? Like, after you graduate? Or just⌠Ever, I guess?â Wincing at the way that came off, Ava forces a small smile onto her features. âSorry, that⌠Came out wrong. I just, uhm, it sounds like a nice thing to do. Iâve read about people doing that, going back to houses⌠Making them look all nice.âÂ
Running a hand through her hair, Ava puffs out her cheeks and sighs, a small nod given. âItâs your stuff! I donât wanna be rudeâŚâ Ava could tamper down her curiosity about it for now. âThat raccoon doesnât stand a chance Gilbert. He might have little hands, but those are our tomatoes. I can take him. Just âcus he dared to steal the tomatoes.âÂ
â maybe i did give away TOO MANY hints, â he raises a hand to his lips to stifle a laugh. â i would say youâre a good guesser, but it might be that iâm terrible at KEEPING SECRETS. iâll leave the digging and composting up to you. iâll make you nice mashed potatoes and shepherdâs pie in exchange ? â catching up to her at the bottom, he points a finger at her tongue, THREATENING to push it back into her mouth. â you donât know if weâre really nice. maybe we are secretly a part of a CULT and youâll be our next SACRIFICE or something, â gilbert shrugs his shoulders with a coy grin. the grin fades at her question, eyebrows knitting together in thought. that wasnât something he had considered before, probably because he was PUSHING IT AWAY. his eyes unfocus for a moment before realizing this might come off wrong. he shakes his head as if to bring himself back to reality. â no ! donât worry about it. honestly, i havenât given that much thought. â he puts his hands into his pockets. â but iâm glad you brought it up or i might never think about it. i think it could be nice to go and see it after graduation. but maybe not live there. I LIKE IT HERE. iâve got my aunt here and iâve got you. what more could i need ? maybe you can come with me. â gilbert rolls his eyes at her protest. â when has something being considered â MY STUFF â ever stopped you from doing something with it ? youâre not being rude. â beginning to round the corner of the school, seeing his house in sight, he lifts a hand to point in the generic direction of the tomato plants. â maybe heâs still there. if you run, you can catch him and BODYSLAM HIM. â
@ofbluemusesâ said:Â â weâre gonna have to keep ice on that. â - from anne
he wishes he wasnât WINCING so much. he isnât sure why embarrassment flushes over him when she speaks. it was silly and he should have been watching where he stepped - the ice had taken him for its next VICTIM. sitting on the ground, holding his ankle with both hands, he stared down at his ankle to avoid showing her the PAINED expression on his face. â isnât that funny ? the thing that hurt me is also the thing that is going to help me. IRONIC. â he turns his head slightly to allow one eye to look at her. â donât worry about me, anne. your house is further than mine. you should head home before it gets too dark. â

Ava offers a weak smile, shrugging. ââS just⌠Being on the move a lot, I guess. Youâd think itâd be quiet, but itâs really not.â Her type of movement especially, constantly looking over her shoulder and running. However, sheâs quick to move on from that though, letting out a quiet snort of laughter. âHey! Being cooped up for at least a little while is⌠Safe.âÂ
This was a roof over her head, something to do. It felt a hell of lot better than sleeping under a tree. A brow raises at his suggestion, a hand lifting to tug a strand of that fiery, wild hair up from her shoulders. âI donât think theyâd believe that.â Not to mention the way she looked under her hat. That wouldnât fly. âI donât mind, really. I think, uhm, maybe that could be something to do later.â Allow Ava some time to get used to the area, adopt some of the smaller quirks, learn more. âDo you want me to work with that?â She nods towards the fire, already starting to get up and kneel by his side. âI can keep it up, âm pretty good with âem.âÂ
â i think moving around a lot is the FARTHEST from quiet you could get, â he smiles at her. he had enjoyed it himself when he had done it, but could never say it was PEACEFUL there were peaceful moments, that was to be said, but hanging over those peaceful moments was the rush of adventure or the fear of what could happen in the unknown. despite the TURBULENT feelings, they were probably what had propelled him forward. â safe, but for myself, i think of everything i may miss out on. â gilbert shrugs his shoulders and clasps his hands together. â you, and most of the people on this island, do not know what anyone outside of my immediate family look like. i think we could MANAGE if it came to it. â sensing her disinterest, he stops himself. maybe it was not the time to pry at her, yet, on the other hand, he can see her caving sooner or later. he blinks at the fire upon hearing her question. despite his PRODDING at it to help it, he had been absentmindedly doing almost nothing to help it at all. â oh, uh, sure. was it too obvious that i had no idea what i was doing ? â
me bad at being online. will be online hopefully tonight :(
@wolfviragoâ
The sympathetic expression was welcomed. Robin often felt alone, and that was why she came to the woods to simply exist as herself. It was easier than trying to befriend the locales of the island, who seemed to have a tight knit group she couldnât ever enter.Â
This boy was the first to give her a moment to speak. To listen and conversate with her, understand her the tiniest bit. Maybe they could be friends.
âIt means a lot to me. I grew up in the woods, my family lived off the land and protected it like a relative should be. The cold weather makes me think of the days I spent with my older brother, sledding and making snowmen.â A soft laugh, her stature relaxing, blues twinkling.
âDo you have any siblings?â
â youâve ALWAYS lived out here ? â he had been told by others that this forest belonged to nature and nature only. no one ventured into it, let alone lived there. gilbert had come on several occasions for this fact, knowing that he could be alone in the woods, and in a way, FINALLY ALONE. however, it hasnât crossed his mind to be upset at knowing he was never truly alone here. it was somewhat a comfort to know that there was another person enjoying solitude here as well. gilbertâs eyes narrow downward at the mention of family. he had already come to accept that he was the only BLYTHE left on the island, that any other family member that might exist was far away. it was just never a great introduction to himself when he had to speak of it. â uhm, HAD ? i suppose it the best way to answer your question. i was SUPPOSED to have a sibling, but my mother and my brother passed away during birth. â it hurts to say the words, not because it hurts to think of but because this always felt like a sympathy PLOY. â but you know, i got on great with my dad. he was a sibling and a father figure all in one. where is your family ? â

@darlingflightâ asked:Â đ° - What is their favorite type of dessert or sweet?
ANYTHING MILK BASED OR CREAMY. during his travels around shortly after his father passed away, gilbert took up lodging with a mexican family. while he stayed with him, he fell in love with mexican cuisine, but especially TRES LECHES CAKE. gilbert has quite the sweet tooth and a love for all things milk based ( from living on a farm his ENTIRE LIFEÂ ) and this cake hit every nerve in this sweet tooth just the right way. though it isnât easy to make from his home in avonlea ( with how expensive and rare the ingredients are ), he TREATSÂ himself to making it with the recipe he so desperately begged for before leaving the family to continue his travels.Â
@eternlleâ asked: đ˘đŽ!
đ˘ - What frustrates your character more than anything?
it frustrates gilbert to the ends of the earth when he sees that people are being treated unfairly for reasons he deems as undeserving. this may sound ridiculous, but he is quick to jump in and help people stand their ground, no matter the reason. this stems from gilbertâs protective nature. that, and it frustrates him how bad he is at portraying his own emotions to others. he usually just sits and swallows his words, despite being such a casual person.Â
đŽ - Your character is having their future told by someone pretty shady. Do they call the fortune teller out or just roll with it?
gilbert would 100% just roll with it. his philosophy in life is, â why even try to ruin someoneâs day ? â let them run their course and it will surely end as itâs supposed to ( also, some part of him would probably believe the fortune teller anyways. heâs a gullible guy ).Â
