This... does put a smile on my face.
Infinite is the best example of wasted potential. Incredible design mixed in with incredible powers that can do whatever the writers want, yet he was ultimately wasted because his motivations were dogshit and his powers weren't used in creative ways and he ended up feeling weak than intimidating and powerful.
So seeing him alive and well and with new powers is incredibly exciting, even if its in some audio series based on the Chaotix. His dialogue in the episode added some crumbs of depth to him and he seems like a character completely consumed with nihilism and contempt of the world. He saw these people who believed they were strong and immovable objects and felt so much hatred and anger. Hell there might be a hint of jealously and envy over characters like Sonic and Shadow. And then he decided "there's no redeeming this planet, so fuck it, I'm gonna make everyone suffer and then destroy everything." He sees himself as the world's destroyer which is metal as hell. It's not much but it's something, there's something there. The potential is slowly crawling its way out.
I really hope in the final episode of the Chaotix casefiles they don't actually kill him off this time. Please don't. Leave him be.
