Gaito had a hard time getting along with people regardless – but Noboru had been one of the people he liked the least back home.

But, even so, making judgments based on one’s likeness – perhaps would be a foolish mistake. A shame Gaito had no faith in even his own deities. They’d never helped him in prayer before – otherwise he’d most certainly be asking for their help with dealing with a predicament like this.

… Hah, as if they could hear him from here.

“Gamma. I’d been assigned to District Gamma.” A mansion? 

… Hm.

“I don’t do too well with crowds, but if it would be a… better situation, I can cope.” He has before.

It was a bit offhanded– not quite a compliment. A faint smile crossed his face, too, however. “Since it seems to be heading that way, I suppose I’ll find out if you’re the better version.”

Not to be the jerk to make assumptions, but Noboru could already tell. There was somewhat of a small smirk curving his lips as his arms folded, eyebrows raised. He wasn’t too sure if he could say the same, not yet, anyhow. Although, there was a little inkling within telling him he had a better chance at something more than just nasty banter back and forth with this one.

“It’s a huge place, man. You could have your own room, and if you want to be left alone, so be it.” Unless Gaito was out and about when the Pokemon decided to begin their hyperactive rampage and destroy the house. How did Sendou Aichi put up with all of them? It was honestly one of life’s greater mysteries, but he was thankful.

“The districts can be unforgiving, depending on what monsters lurk in that area. Not to mention, you’re stuck in a cruddy hut with no appliances that work and you’re usually underground.” Something told him the other would appreciate that--

“Uh. You don’t know what it is, probably, but after a month of being trapped here, they’ll give you a cellphone.” As an example, Noboru reached around to his back pocket, and surfed his own out, tapping the screen. “It’s a means of communication and stuff. GPS-- that’s uh, a tracking system to help you find a place if you don’t know where it is. You can check out your own assigned housing before making a decision.

“You’re the same, though. You share the face of someone who annoys me.”

Hearing Noboru’s next retort, however, stunned him into silence, incapable of responding. Or, actually, rather, he now filled with an uncertainty he simply hadn’t realized yet. Reality was like a sudden brick to the face.

Potentially ally-less. That certainly wasn’t a good thing.

… Dealing with Noboru was always doable, just annoying. And this one, seemed a little less so, based on how he stopped the word war, so…

He inhaled sharply before letting out a long sigh.

“… Alright. I agree to your terms. Please lend me your assistance. If you intend to help me, I’ve obviously no choice but to accept.”

He refused, however, to add the thanks his thoughts sprung forth.

There was a pang of shame felt in those words Gaito tossed at him in retaliation. Apparently Knight of the Windmill Noboru was actually quite detestable; the spat with Gao and a couple of others made him confident in that. At the very least, they were exact opposites in personality. Well... he couldn’t say that if it were the old him. The knight was just him from two years ago with flowery Shakespearean speech. Disgusting.

“T-tch. Whatever, that’s your problem with him.

“U-uh... oh.” That was easier than he’d thought it would be. Of course, not being given a thanks rubbed him the wrong way and he made that apparent by letting go of a displeased snort. Wasn’t any use fighting over it, though.

A glittering gold chest plate caught his attention almost immediately as he strolled by. Ah, Lucifer-- the man he met a while back, took an interest in him since he reminded him so much of a dragon knight, and ended up bonding with El Quixote and making a..well, a little bit of an awkward friendship, but he was actually cooler than most of the adults around here.

However, one thing just wasn’t sitting right with him, not at all. Golden eyes narrowed as he took in the primal beast’s profile. The guy never came across as malicious, or even sassy at that! Upon meeting someone that was apparently a creation of his, it only left dozens of questions settling in his small, twelve year old brain. Just how was it possible...? The man standing before him was more of a literal ray of sunshine than his own boyfriend.

“’Another’?” Gaito mused with a curious glance, raising an eyebrow. Allies, perhaps? Here? What a joke.

“… So you are another version of the Noboru I know? From one of the other worlds? Hm…” Fascinating.

He deadpanned, looking up to initiate eye contact, maintaining it as he spoke dryly. “…That must be so jarring. No wonder you’re such a needlessly incessant jerk here. I’m so sorry for your utterly brutal destiny. It really is a shame. Perhaps I overestimated your snapping point. How sad.”

Noboru was torn between two decisions right now. Respecting Gaito for his one-up in the motor-mouth department, or getting utterly livid over the fact he just burned him twice as hard, harder than the human Kurouzu Gaito ever could. It was clear in his face, as his brow creased and he stared at the Buddy monster, and hard, as if the fabric of the space-time continuum would rip into shreds if he didn’t come to the right decision.

“Listen up, wise guy. It’s not my fault you share the face of someone that annoys me every time I had to look at him. Besides, you started it, remember? If you can’t handle it, then get off the porch with the big dogs.” Why couldn’t it have been tigers, or something? Noboru absolutely hated that metaphor.

There was no use in keeping up with the battle. He was far beyond that now; Noboru had grown up in the last two years of being imprisoned here.

“Who did you expect? Shalsana? Cecilia?” An irritated sigh. “Just because you’re a knight doesn’t mean I like you, Noboru. I don’t have to listen to any of your so-called ‘jokes’.”

Though, still, something may have been…off? “It is not within my destiny to care.”

Shalsana? Cecilia? Those were Dungeon World names, and he knew them well; he did main that world before coming back to Hive City, after all. It took less than five seconds for him to come to an understanding of the situation, which already made him utterly finished with it.

“Oh, I get it. Another one of those Dungeon World counterparts, huh? You’ve got an even bigger mouth than the other one!” This one even spoke of ‘destiny,’ too. And here I thought we were over this, he thought bitterly.

“Don’t come crying to me if you traumatize them, nobody deserves cat torture.”

“Wh-- Gaito?” He was back? Seriously?!

No, wait. Something was different. What was with that weird armor?

“……. I better not find a whole room full of cats, Kodo.” Is this where all your allowances is going? Is this why he keeps treating you?!

“Hehhh. Are you implying we need to move out to have them behave more? I didn’t know you wanted that. Starting on your dream of a cat army this early?” So much chaotic energy resides in the mansion. It’s a wonder they have made more damage as well.

“Well, it was a concern of mine, I’ll be honest. I know you’re capable, all of you, but… Ah, I guess that’s just my tendency to be overprotective. I won’t worry too much about it, since you seem to be used to dealing with him.”

Or at least people like him, from the sounds of it. Zal really didn’t know too too much about the world they came from, so for all she knew this was just normal, every day bullcrap they had to deal with. Really made her feel for these kids.

“In any case… I’ll be sure to tell you how it goes. Oh, if only I could take pictures of how confused his dumb face would look. But you let me know if he starts bugging you and I’ll be sure to lay the sugary sweetness on him even more.”

“I’ll let you know if he does.” Good luck getting past Tasuku, anyway.
