Lmaaoo Goku and Chichi are going to a fancy restaurant date~😌✨💖 (PS: Goku and Chichi got new hair styles for the date)
Mini GT theory
Super 17 Saga mini-theory. Might be totally baseless though
Unlike my other posts regarding Dragon Ball GT's preproductions, this is based on post production changes. I believe the reason why Chichi and Videl have a subplot of carrying everything except the kitchen sink to aid Goku in battle against Super 17 was for a support role where they bring Goku an iconic weapon that would aid him in evening the playing field against the Energy Absorber.
THE POWER POLE
Goku could've switched from energy blast attacks into melee combat while keeping his distance away from Super 17 after his energy. Toei likely had a more choreographed fight scene in the storyboards or early scripts but due to production constraints abandoned them. That is why the fight lacks a lot of martial arts because it was going to be juxtaposed with a martial arts spectacle in the 2nd half that was cut at the last minute, but hey, at least their appearance adds to the family support theming of the Super 17 saga.
I think Chichi and Videl participation is strong justification for Goku to get his most iconic weapon in time for an appropriate opponent that would allow a cool counter attack.

GT thoughts Goten x Valese
The cool thing about Goten is that they give him a romantic relationship that is the inverse of his parents. Goku and Chichi can be described in many ways but ultimately the dyamic is one around the man being ignorant and the woman being more worldly guiding him along, but the joke is that Chichi is also an ignorant country bumpkin, it's just unwittingly so.
Now Valese is pretty ignorant as a sheltered rich girl from West City an extreme level similar to Goku the mountain boy. Now who is to guide her?
Now who is to guide her with hands intertwined but the most socially aware member of the Son family in Son Goten
You see, Chichi instilled her social awareness into Goten and her boy built on that in hopes to be more like his older brother Gohan's example, eventually surpassing him in social awareness. Goten is very invested in trends, style and experiences within the community as unlike the rest of his family, he is more tied to that urban lifestyle. All of which makes him a viable teacher to Valese.
Granted, Goten isn't exactly the brightest himself either, so that is why Valese's ignorance is so extreme. Again, it's almost a complete inversion on Goku and Chichi's dynamic, except with the added twist if Chichi was the Hero and Goku was the damsel in need of saving.
What do you guys think? Were they creating another variation of the Goku x Chichi concept to explore through Goten x Valese that was distinct to the Gohan x Videl dynamic?
Idk if someone already did this but I couldn't not do this
Original:
I’m thinking again about the chichi meta I still haven’t posted and how it essentially boils down to people thinking she’s harsh and unfair to Goku after the saiyan fight but if you’ve ever seen how much she Loves That Man you have to also do the math on her saying her ‘I knew I should not have left him alone with Gohan’ or smth line because what that tells me is while the saiyans were obviously not Goku’s fault, Goku has put that boy in danger frequently enough on his own that Chichi was scared to let them leave the house without supervision.
Even as an over-protective mom, which she definitely is, she is Goku’s biggest fan, she knows how strong Goku is, and if she still hits X to doubt he can handle the child, there’s a story there.
And I for one would like to see all of the stupid shit Goku has done with his toddler thinking it was okay for babies to do because how would he know it isn’t? He’s never met a baby before. There’s comedy gold in the gap years.
Here’s some more of my Dragon Ball headcanons

piccolo and goku's reunion at the beginning of dbz is so funny. Like. the last time they saw each other, they fought to the death, goku showed piccolo the first kindness he'd ever experienced in his life (healing him when he could've killed him and been done with it, even if that meant that kami died too), and then piccolo fucked off for five years. didn't do a damn thing after he'd went on and on about being king piccolo's reincarnation and taking over the world and whatever. and THEN.
the REUNION. and goku's first reaction is immediately "oh and what the fuck do YOU want" which is funny as hell considering he was apparently always telling gohan about how piccolo (jr) really wasn't all that bad:
but y'know. Gotta Be Cautious and all that. but immediately afterwards their back-and-forth is actually hilarious:
because they talk like i'd imagine normal rivals would instead of mortal fucking enemies. and goku's behavior makes sense because he's GOKU and because, again, he was already telling gohan allllll about how he didn't think piccolo was all bad anymore, but piccolo? mr. "cracking a smile as he tells goku how nauseous the thought of teaming up with him is"???? he has ZERO excuses. and then during the actual fight with raditz they start bitching at each other like they're longtime friends who someone dipped in divorce sauce which is HYSTERICAL to me:
"you always were a lazy one" LIKE WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUTTTTTT if you go over the entire chain of events from goku starting his revenge quest against piccolo daimao to goku and piccolo jr facing off against each other at the world tournament there is nothing in goku's actions that imply laziness. quite the opposite, actually!!! the ONLY thing goku did that piccolo could maybe consider lazy would be. not tracking piccolo down and killing him (read: leaving a loose end alone instead of tying it up). that's It. where is he getting the "lazy" from. where is he getting "you always were..." from. They're not FRIENDS.
and then of course. The Plan.
piccolo: haha yeah i made this technique to kill you
goku: but it's helping me instead!!! love that!!! hahaha!!!
piccolo: yeah haha it really is funny isn't it
raditz: Can These Two Crazy Motherfuckers Stop Giggling With Each Other And Come Fight Me Already
and finally. This.
piccolo: HELL YEAH I GET TO KILL GOKU ALONGSIDE HIS FUCKASS BROTHER WIN-WIN
also piccolo: (...and then he'll get brought back with the dragon balls so it'll all be fine. Just so i can fight him for real of course)
the whole thing is just so funny. like i said, goku's demeanor is understandable because he's goku but piccolo???? goku gave him one senzu bean and he went from "KILL KILL MURDER KILL" to "ahhhh yeah son goku. that guy who i'm totally going to kill one of these days. really looking forward to that haha >:)". and then immediately after that he gets smacked upside the head with gohan
og dragon ball gang!

This is me wanting to draw that Gohan and Goten reunion we never got in the buu saga. Like both were dead and one thought the other to be dead.
This started cause I was talking to a friend of Gotens character in regards to Goku at first Goku is hyped up to him this untouchable heroic hero. He sees how everyone feels about him but he feels not much for his Dad other what he was told and he’s scared to approach. Then, reality kicks in his Dad isn’t that… Gohan is “killed” and Goten and Trunks and thrusted into the role of saviors of the Earth. Goten resents him but then… he learns that Goku isn’t none of that he’s real, super approachable, and awesome. It beat the stories he was told.
Then, he realizes he never felt he was missing that love because he had a lot of it. Gohan was always there for him making sure nothing was missing for Goten. Goten realizes he is very lucky to have Gohan. Anyway not me explaining my comic in the comments
