i feel kinda bad for piper ratliff it can be really devastating to realize you have no principles and are exactly like your mother

i've seen a lot of this sentiment and i do not think piper is exactly like her mom. She found she can't get away from her privilege as much as she'd like to, but she is also obviously much less bigoted, intolerant, close-minded, and toxic. Really we all try and many of us can only be somewhat better than our parents but not a whole lot. I find it interesting that so many people were rooting Piper to be as awful as Victoria though, or think she's literally the worst person in the family. Either bc it is not fun to see a sincere boring character on the White Lotus or bc they detest and project onto sincere young women generally, maybe both

I understand Piper's and Saxon's makeovers (Douche Saxon not seeing -> Slightly Better Saxon now seeing, even reading; Buddhist Piper not hearing -> Liberated Piper taking it all in) but what is going on with Lochlan

they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"

My doc told me last week that maybe sometimes I should take my inner problem solver aside and tell her "I love you, but you need to shut the hell up." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
