“First 4th generation relationship: ENHYPEN’s leader Jungwon was spotted with an unknown girl late at night.”
That was the first thing that Sunhee woke up to. Even though she was scared of what she would see on any social media platform, her finger immediately exited out of the Google app and pressed onto the Instagram app out of habit.
She could already see the amount of DMs she had received from her friends and the Enhypen members from their secret personal accounts. But she also noticed how many DMs were filling her account from people that she didn’t even know. Of course she knew they were from fans and she already knew what they were going to say
“You’re only dating Jungwon oppa for attention.”
“You gold digger.”
“Break up with him.”
“You’re only using him for his fame.”
“You don’t deserve him.”
“I wonder how your ugly ass got with him.”
Her hands shook as she tried to delete every single dm that was coming in and remove all the unknown accounts from her followers list. She immediately made her account private and threw her phone onto her bed out of frustration.
She could hear her phone ringing like crazy from kakaotalk notifications not only from Jungwon but from the group chat she was in with the rest of the Enhypen members. However she didn’t bother even looking at them.
“YOON SUNHEE!” She flinched as she heard her best friend’s voice boom throughout her apartment, knowing her friend was only worried because she wasn’t answering her phone. She let out a string of curses under her breath as she hesitantly walked out of her room.
“I…I’m right here.” She trailed off, closing her bedroom door behind her.
“Are you ok?” Heeyoon, Sunhee’s best friend, advanced pretty quickly to the panicking girl and pulled her into a tight hug. “How did this happen?” She urgently asked while trying to calm her best friend down.
“I-I don’t even know.” Sunhee managed to let out with her extremely shaky voice. She could feel a wave of anxiety rise inside of her.
“Did Jungwon call you yet?” Her friend cautiously questioned the girl, afraid of pushing her over the edge.
“Yeah…But I haven’t been answering.” Sunhee quietly responded to the girl. She knew Jungwon was also freaking out in his dorm. He was usually very calm in most situations, but she knew that this was the one thing that he had been worrying about for the future.
“Why don’t you call him, hm?”
“I don’t want to.” Sunhee sighed out. “I know it’s probably the right option to call him but…I don’t think I can.” Her voice started wavering as different scenarios started to flash in her head. “What if he breaks up with me, Heeyoon? What if all those comments from the fans convinces him that I’m not good enough for him?”
Heeyoon’s heart broke seeing how much this was destroying her friend’s confidence and her insecurities were finally coming to the surface. Of course, Sunhee wasn’t completely confident while dating Jungwon. His popularity made his girlfriend question her worth and her right in dating the young leader. But Jungwon was always there to comfort her that she was more than enough for him and that he loved her very dearly.
“I’m just going to go back into my room. Can you fill me in on the work I miss in class?” Before Heeyoon could say anything else, Sunhee trudged back into her room and closed the door behind her.
Heeyoon sighed as she dialed a familiar number and waited for the person on the other line to pick up.
“Hey Heeseung oppa. How is he? Is he doing ok?”
-------
“What the fuck do I do?” Jungwon cursed out when Riki showed the new article that came out in the morning. “This is probably breaking her.” He pulled on his red hair, frustrated in the situation.
“Is she still not picking up?” Sunoo asked in a cautious voice, making Jungwon chuck his phone on the couch.
“No she hasn't. I know she saw the article and she’s probably reading through the comments that people are leaving.” Jungwon covered his face and he could feel tears from annoyance building up in his eyes. He slumped down on the couch and propped his elbows on his knees, thinking of how he should fix this.
“I think you should wait until our manager hyung says something.” Jake suggested to the distressed boy.
But the young leader was hearing none of it. He shot up from the couch and advanced to the door. “I have to go see her.”
But he didn’t get far as he was pulled back by the two oldest members. “Oh no. Yang Jungwon, you’re staying right here. Wait until our manager comes or we go to the company.”
“But Sunhee is probably going through so much right now.” Jungwon protested, trying to free himself from the hold of the oldest members. “She's probably overthinking and she’s putting all this pressure on herself.” Jungwon slowly stopped struggling as he dropped to the ground, just like his tears dropped from his eyes. “She’s probably thinking that she’s not enough for me and that she doesn’t deserve me.” His last sentence almost came out as a whisper and his tears started to fall rapidly, making his hyungs look at him in pity. Jungwon was usually a calm and collected person. He was their leader. Even when his members were going through hard times, he stayed his best to stay grounded and calm for the group’s sake. But this matter was driving him close to insanity.
The silent atmosphere was interrupted as someone’s phone rang. Heeseung fished his phone out of his pocket to see his sister’s ID on display.
“Heeyon?”
Jungwon’s ears perked up at the familiar name and his head shot up. “It’s Heeyoon? Is she with Sunhee? Does she know if Sunhee’s ok?” Jungwon continued to bombard the older male with questions, making Heeseung hold his hand up.
“No he’s not. He’s practically a mess.” Heeseung told his sister. “How is she?”
Heeseung kept nodding at his sister’s answer, his face slowly dropping. And of course Jungwon noticed, he was so intently staring at his hyung.
“Why? Is she not ok? Can I go see her?”
But Jungwon’s questions were ignored once again as Heeseung focused back on his phone call. “I have a feeling our manager will come to meet with us. I’ll keep him here until then.”
“Hyung, I think I really need to see her.” Heeseung felt bad ignoring the younger male’s desperate pleas.
“I’m sorry Jungwon but you need to stay here until our company says something about the situation. Whether to the public or to us.”
-------
Sunhee laid in her bed, writing and erasing a text message to Jungwon. She was wondering what to do in this situation and how he was feeling.
Would he not want to date me anymore?
That exact thought was going through her head over and over again. It was starting to get to her head when she kept seeing horrible messages and death threats being sent to her social media accounts. She had gotten a creepy package early that day, which Heeyoon had angrily disregarded from her house. She was confused on how these fans had gotten her address and now she was even more scared of what was to come.
The only thing that was comforting her was listening to a compilation on youtube that had gathered Jungwon’s sweet and unique voice in one video. It was one of the things that Sunhee loved most about Jungwon. He had a unique tone of voice but with a very sweet base, which made her swoon every time she heard it.
“Sunhee-yah~”
Sunhee blinked as she took her eyes off of her phone, focusing on the items behind her phone. “Heeyoon-ah. Please help me. I think I’m hearing things.” She choked up at the thought of Jungwon being here right now.
She knew he had a bunch of things on his schedules. Why? Because that’s all he had complained to her about last night while he was over at her apartment, watching movies and eating snacks with her; before this scandal broke out and ruined everything. Even when he desperately called her, she ignored every single one. She knew that as soon as she heard his voice, she would want to see him and she didn’t want to distract him from his work. From his career.
His career that she probably ruined.
“You’re not hearing things, love.”
Sunhee blinked again, springing up from her bed and whipping her head towards her bedroom door. And there he was.
Her boyfriend. The love of her life. Her everything.
“J-Jungwon?” She stumbled out of her bed, thinking if she was dreaming of him being in front of her. “W-What are you doing here? You said you had a photoshoot today.”
“I finished my part and begged my manager to leave the scene as soon as I did.” Jungwon answered her while he took steps towards his girlfriend and steadied her on her feet.
“Love. I’m so sorry.” Jungwon whispered into her hair after he pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her waist and patting her head with his palm.
“W-why are you sorry?” Sunhee already had tears streaming down her face and landing on Jungwon’s shoulder, wetting his shirt. “You probably hate me for tainting you and the rest of Enhypen’s image and your fans will probably not be happy with you. And you’ll probably want to break up with me, regretting you ever even dated me because I ruined your career an-”
She was cut off by Jungwon’s lips on hers, silencing her rant. She closed her eyes, letting her remaining tears run down her cheeks and felt Jungwon’s tears streaming down his own cheeks, making their gentle kiss taste salty.
Jungown pulled her waist closer, if that was even possible at that point while Sunhee brought her hand that was locked behind Jungwon’s neck to his red locks. Her fingers gently wove through his dark red hair, which she absolutely adored on him. Their lips feverishly moved against each other, making Sunhee forget about what she was even ranting about in the first place.
Her boyfriend finally broke the kiss, wiping the remaining tears from her cheeks and lightly caressed her cheeks. “Love, you would never ruin my career. I will never regret dating you.” Jungwon assured her firmly. “If fans are disappointed, then they were never fans in the first place.”
“But-”
“I’m never going to break up with you, Yoon Sunhee.” Jungwon said to her. “I’m never going to break your heart like that. I’m going to stay with you till the day I stop breathing. I’m never going to let you go.”
Sunhee could feel herself tear up again at the way Jungwon looked at her while saying that. His beautiful eyes held so much love and adoration while looking at his girlfriend.
“I can promise you this. I will never let you go. My sunshine.”
Sunshine.
It was a nickname that Jungwon made for Sunhee quite early in their relationship for the sole purpose that her name contained the word sun in it. But as time went on, Jungwon realized how perfectly fitting the nickname was for her. She was his sunshine. She was the one who would brighten up his day every single day and was the one who made his world brighter.
“Wonie…”
“You’re my sunshine. You’re the one who brightens every aspect of my life. I will never let you go. I need you in my life.” Jungwon told her with the rounded end of the tears gathering at his chin.
At this point, Sunhee was sobbing again, not from sadness but from true happiness. Jungwon lightly smiled at her, wiping her tears with the pad of his thumb.
Sunhee showed him an equally gentle smile. “Ayu stupid…You’re crying too and you’re only wiping away my tears.” She stated, using the sleeves of her sweater to wipe his tears away.
Jungwon lightly chuckled as he tucked her bangs behind her ear and caressed the side of her face. “I guess we’re both stupid here anyway. You’re my stupid sunshine and I will always love you.”
Jungwon leaned to give another kiss that the girl gladly received, giggling through the sweet kiss.
--------
Sunhee let out a deep breath as Jungwon posted the latest post of his selca with the hinting caption. They both had come back to the Enhypen dorm, not totally confirming the rumors but not denying them either.
“How are you feeling so far?” Jungwon placed a peck on the girl’s forehead before asking her.
She snuggled the side of her cheek into Jungwon’s shoulder, clinging onto his arm. “It feels a lot nicer. Well, also now that I got to talk it out with you too.”
Jungwon lovingly placed his head on top of Sunhee’s head and let out a satisfied sigh.
“Hey Jungwon?” He let out a small hum in response. “I love you.”
He chuckled before answering her. “I love you too, sunshine.”

"계절은 변한대도 난 너인걸, 난 너를 사랑해~"
•———————————————•°・❥・°•——————————————•
“That will be $14.50. Your drinks will be out in a bit.” Jina smiled at the customer before turning to the back to make the three drinks.
She threw the ingredients for the smoothie into the blender and took out the coffee beans for the iced americanos that were ordered as well. As she waited for the coffee to brew she leaned over the counter and took a deep breath.
Because it was a Saturday, Jina had been working since morning and now it was close to closing time.
She looked up when she heard the blender stop and grabbed a cup, pouring the drink into the clear cup. She had also finished the coffee drinks and handed them to the lady.
“Have a nice day~” She slightly bowed to the lady.
Jina scanned the empty cafe; well, almost empty cafe. Her eyes landed on her boyfriend that was working on his computer, with different notebooks scattered around the table. His huge physics textbook was on his lap as his eyes darted from his notebooks and textbooks constantly.
She slowly creeped up behind him before wrapping her arms around him. “I told you to get some dinner. It’s not good to eat dinner this late.”
Jake turned around to face Jina and pouted. “But I wanted to eat with you.”
“But I still gotta clean up.” Jina giggled when she saw her boyfriend's face. “It’s close to 10pm.”
“It’s ok. I’ll wait. Then we can get something to eat, ok?” Jake smiled as Jina nodded before she turned around, going back to behind the counter.
-------
“Wait, so she’s been collecting more money than she should be?” Jake exclaimed.
Jina nodded. “Yeah, I confronted her about it and so everything's fine now.”
“That’s so messed up though….. All your hard earned money….” Jake trailed off. It was understandable that Jake was angrier than Jina was. Both were very nice and understanding, known for being sweethearts on campus. However it was more known that Jina was extremely patient and understanding, hence the reason why Jina had just let her landlord go.
“It’s fine. She apologized and all. She is a nice person though. Let’s just hope she doesn't do that to anyone else.” Jina smiled, patting her boyfriend’s hand who was getting riled up.
“Always positive and understanding. That’s why I love you so much.” Jake chuckled as he brought his soda can up to his lips to take another sip. But he quickly stopped when he realized what had slipped out.
Jina’s chopsticks stopped moving as she was about to grab her food and her eyes widened. She slowly turned around to face Jake, whose face was getting slightly red.
“Y-you…. You love me….?” Jina breathed out.
The truth is in the two years of dating, Jake knew he had loved Jina after their first anniversary passed. But everytime he wanted to say those words out loud he would get a flashback of that one night when they both got drunk and Jina had confessed something. She doesn’t remember but he remembers every word so clearly.
“I’m afraid of falling in love. I don’t know what love feels like and I’m afraid that when the time comes, I won’t know if it’s real or not.”
“Jaeyun-ah…. I’m so broken”
“I don’t think I’m capable of loving someone. And I don’t think I’m capable of being loved” Jina whispered out as she had tears streaming down her face.
Jina had been in an orphanage for most of her life. Her birth parents couldn’t provide for her so they had left her at an orphanage when she was a newborn baby. And the multiple families that had adopted her weren’t very kind to her. They never showed her love, actually they showed the exact opposite of love. She had finally gotten away from her horrible adopted parents when going to college, but she still had no idea what love felt like.
Jake, on the other hand, had a very normal childhood. Of course since he is human, he did grow up with scars but he grew up around a loving family and friends. When he had transferred to Korea from Australia in his first year of university, he was lucky that his friends had taken him under their wings and made him feel comfortable in a new environment.
Sure, Jina liked the male, very much. Whenever he would smile at her or do something, her stomach would flutter. Whenever he would hug her or he would kiss her, she did feel tingly. But she didn’t know if that was just skin deep feelings or something much more.
It was silent before Jake spoke up. “I-I….. I do….. I love you.” He confessed while stumbling over his words, scared of what her response would be.
Jina couldn’t speak, she felt the breath sucked out of her. “I…” She felt like her words were caught in her throat. She had her mouth opened, but no words would come out.
Do I love him? What should I say? What if I say it now but I actually don’t?
A million thoughts were running through her head. They were broken when Jake cleared his throat, gaining her attention.
He slightly pulled on his turtleneck, feeling slightly uncomfortable of what the atmosphere had become. “Y-you… uhm… you don’t need to respond to me right away… I think I should get going. Jay and Sunghoon were texting me, asking where I am.”
Jina quickly stood up, picking up her bag with her. “Uhm yeah. I gotta go back. I have to take Cloudy out on a walk before she goes to sleep.”
“Uhm, want me to walk you to the bus stop?” Jake offered.
“No, it's fine. It’s not even a two minute walk.” And before Jake could say anything, Jina quickly turned around and started walking towards the bus stop in a fast past, desperately wanting to get away from the awkward atmosphere as soon as possible.
She arrived at the bus stop and plopped down on the bench. She looked at her phone and saw it was 10:10. The bus usually came at 10:15 so she had time.
She let out a deep sigh, having the scene from earlier replay in her mind. She kept thinking of Jake’s heartbroken eyes and his wavering voice that he was trying to keep calm. It was very obvious that even though Jake understood her reaction, he couldn’t help but feel hurt that she couldn’t say anything back.
To make it better, she heard her phone buzz. She opened her eyes and looked at her phone once again, curious what it was.
Hi, is this Kang Jina? This is Park Yeseul, your birth mom. I heard you were looking for me. Can we meet this weekend?
Jina felt her breath hitch in her throat again, reading the text messages over and over again. She brought her phone and sighed again.
“What great timing.”
-------
“Really you did? Congrats Jina~” That was the first thing Jake heard as he plopped down in class next to Jay.
It was two days after Jake confessed his love to Jina and there were no calls or messages on both ends. Jake, for the first time in months, didn’t go to the cafe that Jina worked at on Sunday, afraid that the awkward atmosphere would make both of them uncomfortable. And Jina had no guts to text or call him. Both were too anxious to call the other person, afraid that now the other person might hate them. Jake beat himself up for saying it too fast, saying it at a time when Jina wasn’t ready. Jina was thinking about it constantly, thinking if her childhood was different, would she have answered back “I love you” wholeheartedly with a confident tone.
“What? I can’t go with you. Why not ask Jake?” Jay asked the girl. The Australian boy whipped his head around when he heard his name come out of his friend’s mouth.
“Oh? Ok? Bye Jina.” Jay put his phone down, confused on why Jina seemed so flustered and desperate to end the call when he mentioned Jake.
“That was Jina? What were you congratulating her for?” Jake cautiously asked. Even though it’s only been two days, he had missed the girl terribly, wanting to know how she was doing.
“Yeah. Apparently she got in touch with her birth parents and they’re meeting for dinner this coming weekend. Isn't that great?” Jay answered, happy for his friend.
Not only did Jake know, but Jay, Sunghoon and Heeseung all knew that Jina was searching for her birth parents ever since she got to college. She had no freedom in her old household so as soon as she was able to leave her old house she started searching for her biological parents.
“Yeah…. That’s amazing.” Jake trailed off thinking of what Jina had said to him when she first opened up to him about her childhood and adoption.
“You know Jaeyun-ah? When I find my biological parents, I want you to come with me to meet them.” Jina said.
“Why?” Jake asked.
“Cause I want to introduce you as someone who was the closest thing to family after them.”
Would she even want me there now?
-------
Jina sat at the restaurant table, nervously fiddling around with her fingers and bracelet Jake had gotten her a while back. She had come fifteen minutes early out of nerves and now she had been just sitting there staring at her phone.
Should I text him…. No. Why would he come… He probably hates me now.
Jina thought aloud and shook off the thought of calling Jake over. Even when she called Jay, she did consider talking it over with Jake and inviting him over. But she was too scared to face him again after the incident, afraid that she had created a gap in the relationship that she couldn’t repair. She was too afraid that she had made one of the most important people in her life hate her now.
Her train of thoughts were cut off when she felt a presence behind her. She turned around to come face to face with a man and women with two kids by their side, one looked about 8 years old and the other looked about 2 years old. The couple looked like they were about in their late 30s or early 40s.
“Jina…..?”
“Eomma….?”
Both whispered out softly.
The woman’s eyes started tearing up as she scanned her daughter’s face. “You grew up so much. Last time I saw you, you were only one year old.” Her mom whispered out.
Jina at the moment had no words to say. She had dreamed of this moment since she was young, she had thought of a million scenarios in her head, what it would be like when she met her biological parents. Her eyes started to tear up seeing her mom emotional.
“Why… Why did you leave me?” That was the only thing that Jina could ask, not knowing what else to say. She didn’t hate her parents, she just wanted to know why her parents didn’t want her or why they couldn’t keep her.
“Oh sweetie, I didn’t want to leave you. But I conceived you when I was still very young, at the age of 19. That time I had no money, as a broke college student and neither did your father. We thought it would be best to give you away from a nice family to provide for you.” Her mom answered.
Nice family….
Jina thought as she suddenly got flashbacks of her life before university. All the beatings she had received. The degrading words that now have stayed in her heart as scars. The treatment that no human should ever have to go through.
“Are you ok? Is something wrong?” Jina snapped out of her trance as she saw that both of her parents looked at her, worried.
“Hmm? Uhm.. yeah. I’m fine.” Jina smiled to reassure the two adults in front of her. Today was a happy day and she didn’t want to ruin it by telling all the horrible stories from her childhood.
Her parents sat down across from Jina while both kids took the spot on each end of the table. They had ordered their food and were waiting for their food.
The entire time, Jina's eyes keep trailing over to her phone. She didn’t know why. It’s not like Jake knew about this appointment and Jay wouldn’t come, since he did say no to her…. multiple times.
“Are you waiting for someone’s call?” Her mom had noticed Jina getting distracted and was glancing at her phone a lot.
“Huh? No I no-”
“Sorry for being late.” A voice cut her off.
Jina’s eyes widened as she recognized the voice and she quickly turned around. There stood Jake, with a white button up shirt and black trousers with a big beige coat over it. His hair was swept, revealing his forehead. It was such a simple outfit but the male looked ethereal in her eyes.
“Oh Jina, who’s this?” Her father asked, curious about the mysterious man who showed up.
“I’m Sim Jaeyun, her boyfriend. Nice to meet you.” He slightly bowed while introducing himself. He leaned over to shake Jina’s father’s hand which the older male gladly received.
“Oh my oh my! You should sit.” Her mom had gestured to the seat next to Jina.
“Thank you.” Jake took a seat on the vacant seat next to Jina, letting out a small shaky nervous breath. Even though he didn’t show that he was nervous, he definitely wasn’t completely calm. He knew how important this day was for Jina and wanted to make a good first impression. He wanted to be there for her…. Even though she might not love him back.
Jake felt a small tap on his arm and he turned around to see the eight year old tapping his arm. She shyly put her stuffed bunny on the table. It was a white bunny that had a small yellow ribbon tied around one of the ears into a pretty bow.
“Is this your bunny?” The male asked the girl. “What’s its name?”
“Mimi.” The girl answered brightly. “Lookie, it even got a bow on it.”
“Oh wow. It’s yellow too. That’s my favorite color. Is it yours too?” Jake smiled at how happy the girl looked.
“Yeah. It’s the color of sunflowers. My favorite flower.” The girl beamed as she pointed to the pin in her hair. It was a simple pin that had three small sunflowers lined up next to each other.
“That’s very pretty.” Jake complimented as the girl giggled.
Jina admired from next to him, how he interacted with Jiyoon so naturally. It was cute seeing him talking in a softer tone for the younger girl, seeing his mouth stretched out in a small smile while he cooed at how cute Jiyoon was.
“So, how long have you guys been dating?” Jina’s mom asked the two students, curious about her daughter’s relationship.
“Two years. Our third anniversary is coming up soon though.” Jake answered the older female.
“Aww how cute.” She cooed at the younger couple. “I remember when my husband and I were like you guys. Ahh so in love, right?”
Jina slightly stiffened at the word love, remembering what happened last week. Jake noticed this and placed his hand over hers under the table. He slowly rubbed his fingers along the back of her hand to calm her down, while maintaining eye contact with Jina’s parents.
“Tell me about Jina. I tried asking Jina earlier to tell me some stuff about her but she had a hard time answering.” Jina’s mom asked, turning to Jake.
“About Jina? There’s a lot.” Jake chuckled before thinking about what to say. “Jina is kind and hardworking. Even though she’s tired when she works at the cafe, she’ll always have a smile on her face for the customers. And she has such a big heart too. When people ask her favors, she does her best to fulfill that request as best as she can. The dog she has now was actually a stray dog she picked up. She brought her home despite her being scared of dogs at the time. And she’s so lovable too. Not only does so many adore her but she’s loving to so many people and caring. She’s absolutely gorgeous in every way inside and out.”
Jina sat there shocked by what came out of her boyfriend’s mouth. She never knew that he had viewed her this way and was surprised when she heard him say that she was a loving person. She never thought she could be capable of giving love out to people as she was told by her adopted parents that she wouldn't give or receive love.
“Thank you for telling us.” Her mom said to the younger male while putting her hand over her husband’s. “And thank you for being a second family to Jina when we weren’t able to be her first.”
-------
Jina had finished having dinner with her parents and was now walking home with Jake. The male had insisted even though she had declined, worried about her walking alone at night.
There was a slight gap between the couple and an awkward silence that hung around them. It was weird for both of them to not have their hands intertwined. But it was hanging on each other’s sides, lightly brushing up against each other as they walked. They had walked with that same atmosphere all the way through until they arrived at Jina’s house.
“Well here we are. Go in safely.” Jake smiled as he turned around to go back to his house.
“J-Jaeyun-ah.” Jina called out.
Jake halted his steps before turning around. “Yeah?”
Jina’s hand felt clammy as she couldn’t formulate the words she wanted to say. “I.. uhm… never mind.”
Jake's eyes narrowed slightly, noticing that she started to fiddle around with her bracelet, a habit she had when she was nervous. “You sure?”
Jina nodded hesitantly. “Ok…. well I’ll get going.” He turned around once more and started to walk back.
Tell him you love him, idiot. Tell him now before it’s too late.
Those two sentences were the only words echoing in her brain as she saw Jake’s body getting further and further away from her.
Jina slowly started to walk up to Jake’s figure whose back was facing her. She hesitantly put one foot in front of the other, thinking again and again to confirm her feelings.
She realized at the restaurant that she, too, loved Jake.
All the butterflies erupting in her stomach when he would say something sweet, was love
All the times she felt fireworks going off in her heart from the way he kissed her, was love.
The fact that she absolutely adored everything about him, even the bad parts, was love.
The way she looked at him in admiration for his inside and out beauty, was love.
When she reached him, she grabbed his arm and swung him around to face her before standing slightly on her tippy toes and pressing a kiss on his lips.
Jake's eyes widened slightly but immediately responded to her, melting into the sweet kiss filled with love.
“Thank you for coming today.” That was the first thing Jina said when she broke the kiss. “You were always there for me, always caring for me. And that’s why I love you so much.”
Jake blinked, not believing his ears. “Y-you…love me too?” He breathed out.
“I do… All this time I couldn’t say I love you because I was scared. I was scared that my adopted parents’ words would be true, that I wasn't capable of loving someone. I was scared that I wasn’t good enough for you, that a nicer girl can come and get to you. But now I know what love is. I love you, Sim Jaeyun, I really do. I love how you’ll sing any song I request, even though you’re tired. I love how soft your voice sounds in all the songs you sing. I love how you can enthusiastically go on and on about anything science related, even though nobody really understands what you’re saying.” Jake lightly chuckled at the third sentence. She was the only one that would patiently listen to all of his rants about the research he had done. “I love how clumsy you are even though every single time I need to patch up your wounds. I love how kind you are to everyone around you, even though the favors make you go out of your way to fulfill them. I love how cute you look when sometimes you get annoyed or frustrated. I love that even if you're a bit stubborn, in the end you’ll give in because you want to see me happy no matter what. I love all these small little things about you that sometimes I don’t think you realize but really, I love all of it.” Jina breathed out.
Jake looked at her with loving eyes, while he caressed her hair and moved her baby hairs that were getting on her face. He wasted no time before he placed his hand on the back of neck before he pulled her into a kiss.
The kiss was quickly broken off when they heard a motorcycle zoom past behind them. They both jumped out of the kiss before giggling.
With his hands still cupped on Jina’s cheeks he leaned in for a third kiss. Jina wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. Jake slowly started walking forward, causing Jina to back up until her back hit the wall.
Fireworks exploded in both of their hearts as their lips moved in perfect sync, filled with love and passion.
They both pulled away, slightly out of breath. Their eyes were glued onto the other's not being able to tear their eyes away. Their eyes were practically dripping with love looking at their lover.
Jake slightly caressed Jina’s cheek. “Kang Jina, I love you so damn much.”
Jina smiled. “Sim Jaeyun, I love you too… so damn much.”

"I won't stop getting butterflies"
•—————————————•°•✿•°•—————————————•
Siyeon took her glasses off for a bit to rub her eyes. Her eyes hurt and felt like they were being strained from her long hours of coding. She had a big final project in two days in one of her coding classes and she already wanted it to end.
She usually wore contacts on a daily basis but on the weekends, she usually stuck to her large thick-framed black glasses. Especially on a day like today, she was too lazy to get ready in the morning so she chucked on her glasses and stayed in her comfy clothes.
She put her glasses back on and fully sat back up; however, as soon as she did, she slumped back. She blankly stared at her computer screen that she’s been staring at for the past two days. She sighed as she wished that the coding would all magically be completed so she didn’t need to stay in front of the computer for another set of long hours.
She’s already done everything she could today to refresh her mind. She called Jungwon for over an hour as she complained how tired she was, she took a walk around her apartment complex and she just took another walk two hours ago to a nearby convenience store to eat spicy ramen to destress her mind. When she was stressed and overworked, she found that spicy food cleared her mind a lot and made her feel a bit more refreshed than before. But now she had nothing else to do. She didn’t feel like going out of her apartment and she knew she couldn’t call Jungwon. Enhypen’s world tour was coming and the members were in the practice room day and night to prepare for it.
She groaned out as she laid her head on one arm rest and hung her legs over the other with her fluffy blanket on top of her face.
“Ugh I don’t wanna be doing any of this.” She grumbled to herself, her voice being muffled by the blanket.
She shot up from her seat when she suddenly heard the doorbell ring. She tilted her head, wondering if she had ordered anything recently.
She hesitantly stood up from her chair and walked over to the front door. When she looked at her little screen that was connected to the camera outside, she saw a girl that was maybe her age with a flower bouquet.
Still confused, she opened the door. “Hello?”
The girl gave her a bright smile and that’s when Siyeon saw that she was in some kind of uniform and had a helmet sitting next to the feet of the girl.
“Hello! I’m from Blume Flower Shop. We received an order and got the instructions from that person that we should deliver this lovely flower bouquet to you. You’re Yoon Siyeon, no?”
“Yeah, I am.” Siyeon said, receiving the bouquet. “Who is it from?”
“I’m sure you’ll know when you read the custom they wrote. It’s on the side of the bouquet if you want to read it.” The delivery girl responded, giving her one last smile. “Have a nice day!”
Siyeon tilted her head before closing the door. She inspected the flowers to distinguish what they were when a small card that was tied around the bouquet with a thin golden string caught her eyes. She opened the card and immediately a smile formed on her lips.
I know you’re working really hard. I know you can do it!
I hope these pretty pink tulip flowers will cheer you up.
Hwaiting, love~ <3
-Wonie
It felt weird that a small note could trigger automatic giggles coming out of her mouth but she couldn’t help it. There were always moments where she felt herself falling in love with her boyfriend all over again. It was always those small moments. Moments like these where flowers can be seen as such simple gestures. But the fact that he thought of this when he had a whole world tour to prepare for made her heart melt.
“Gosh I love him.”
-------
“Ja- let’s take a fifteen minute break!” The Enhypen boys cheered when their choreographer announced a short break, most of them falling down to the ground right on their spots.
Jungwon took out his phone and saw that he had a message from Siyeon. It was a picture of the bouquet that he had sent and she had put a heart emoji after that while thanking him.
“Ay ay Jungwonie is smiling at his phone again.” Heeseung announced to the whole practice room.
“I’m guessing she got the flowers?” Jay asked, making the younger male nod.
“It seemed that she really liked them.” Jungwon said, looking at the picture and text with a wide smile painted on his lips.
“Yeah it does. She posted it in her story too.” Sunoo waved his phone around, showing everyone her instagram story which made Jungwon smile even more.
“Aiyo- look how whipped he is.” Jake cooed. “How are you going to manage to be away from her for so long during world tour.”
“Ha…I don’t know…” Jungwon trailed off. “I’m gonna miss her so much.”
“Aye look, he’s so whipped.” Riki pointed out, making Jungwon’s cheeks become red.
“Ayo we obviously already knew that.” Of course Sunghoon would be the one to add fuel to fire instead of extinguishing it from the situation.
“Shut up…” Jungwon mumbled, turning his back on his members which only made the sounds of the laughter increase.
“You’re going to go visit her after practice, right?” Jay asked, receiving a nod from the wavy hair male.
“Mhm…I’m planning to get some snacks before going to see her. And bring the polaroid camera to show her. She’s always talked about having a polaroid camera between us so we can take cute pictures.” Jungwon pointed to the baby blue bag on the chairs that contained the small gift.
“Ja! Let’s get back to work!” The boys groaned as their choreographer came back into the room, clapping his hands to get the boys up on their feets again.
-------
I’m never going to finish this.
Siyeon groaned as she thrashed in her computer chair. She slipped her hands between her eyes and her glasses and whined at the lack of motivation she had. Her big black headphones were still covering her ears as she reached for her phone to play a different song.
“Maybe playing a more upbeat song will motivate me more.” She mumbled for herself. Her fingers automatically typed ENHYPEN in the spotify search bar and played their most recent song. She smiled as Future Perfect blasted in her headphones and she cracked her fingers before getting back to work.
With the music blasting through her ears, she didn’t hear the small beeps that were emitted from her front door which indicated there was someone putting in the code and entering the apartment. She most definitely couldn’t hear the small sound of footsteps softly padding to her room and the small squeaks that were made from the soft push on the door.
She let out a small squeak when she felt someone hugging her from behind, burying their face in her hair but she calmed down when she could smell a familiar scent.
“Wonie!” She squealed out. She turned around and immediately gave the male a hug, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck and bringing him close to her.
“Hey, love.” He chuckled as he brushed his hands through her hair and patted her back with her other hand.
They finally broke the hug and Siyeon was beyond happy to see her boyfriend’s face again. Especially after a long day of coding.
But Jungwon had his head tilted to the side like a cute little puppy and his eyes had a slight hint of confusion.
“Is something up?” She subconsciously pushed her glasses that were falling down her nose and that’s when it dawned on her.
Jungwon had never seen her glasses before.
Ever.
Siyeon gasped and buried her face into her thick blanket, afraid of what Jungwon would say with her glasses. To her, she looked nicer when she had her contacts in. She hated when people saw her with her without her contacts. That was one of the reasons she loved working at home. So she wouldn’t have to bother putting in contacts every morning to go to the library or a cafe. Rather she would just put on her glasses in the morning and spend the whole day not having to go through the pain of putting in and taking out her contacts.
And that’s why she felt absolutely mortified when she didn’t even realize that she had her glasses on in front of Jungwon.
She whined as she felt Jungwon tug on her blanket.
“Love, why are you hiding your face like that??” Jungwon questioned, trying to pry the blanket off her face.
“I don’t want you to see me with glasses.” Siyeon whined, refusing to let go of the blanket.
“But you look so cute.”
“No I don’t!” She exclaimed, her voice being muffled in the fabric of the fluffy blanket. “I wish I could look cute like those nerdy girls with the circle glasses but because my prescription is so high, my eyes look weird with my big glasses!”
The little tug of war game went on for quite a bit but unfortunately, Jungwon was stronger than her and was able to pry the blanket out of her grasp.
Before Siyeon could cover her face with her hands, Jungwon held her wrists and took his sweet time staring into her face.
“You look adorable with glasses. And I didn’t even think you could look cuter.” Jungwon cooed at the sight of his girlfriend, feeling the same butterflies he felt every time he would just look at her.
He couldn’t understand why she hated herself with glasses. The big framed glasses made his girlfriend look even smaller and cuter than she already did, if that was even possible. Especially with the comfy clothes that she was wearing she looked so endearing, he just wanted to put her in his pocket and carry her around.
“Really?” Jungwon felt like he was melting when he saw her look up but because her glasses were falling down, she was looking at him through the top of her glasses.
“Really. Now finish up the remainder of your project. I brought snacks for us and we can cuddle afterwards.” Jungwon gave her a slight peck and walked out of the room.
-------
Jungwon forgot that polaroid cameras could make sound when he took a picture. He internally panicked when he captured a picture of his girlfriend sitting on her computer chair with both of her legs up on the chair and focusing on her computer. And of course with her cute glasses. His eyes widened when Siyeon turned around.
“Did you just take a picture of me?”
“Uh- No?” Jungwon hid the polaroid camera behind him, along with the polaroid picture itself.
“I heard the click and the polaroid film coming out.” Sieyon narrowed her eyes as she lunged out of her chair and to Jungwon.
“Ah ah ah love.” Jungwon yelped as he put the polaroid camera and the film above his head, trying to protect it.
“Throw it out!” She whined as she jumped up to get the camera but mostly the picture.
“But you look so cute.” Jungwon pouted while he still tried to protect his camera and picture.
“I probably don’t!” She whined more as she jumped up, not realizing that she was pushing both of them closer to her bed.
“Got it!” She yelped as she was able to get the picture before Jungwon tripped and fell into her bed with her falling on top of him.
“HA! I got i-” She got cut off when she realized what position they had ended up in. She felt her cheeks become crimson red as she looked away.
Jungwon took the advantage to snatch the picture out of her hands.
“H-hey!”
Siyenn tried to take the picture back when she realized that it was out of her hands but Jungwon quickly placed a peck on her lips, shutting her up.
He fished his phone out of his back pocket and took off his phone case and put the picture in his phone case.
She gasped. “Jungwon, you have a clear phone case! What if people see?”
He shrugged as he put his phone back into his pocket. “I’ll put a pop socket on it or stickers to cover it partially. But I’m keeping it there so I can boast about my cute girlfriend.”
She blushed again as he cooed at her red cheeks and hugged her tightly, pecking her nose in an endearing way.
“My cutie.”

۵•┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈**.♡. **┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈•۵
Yua let out a muffled scream as she banged her head on her desk and her fingers were tangled into her long black wavy hair. She had final exams coming up and she felt like her head was going to explode. She had a million tabs opened up from all of her lecture notes and her notebooks were filled with the practice problems she had done in class and for homework.
She was currently in an empty house since Jungwon was out with his friends, with her earbuds in both ears, blasting music that would motivate her. She sighed as she stood up from her desk to take a small break. She stretched by raising her hands above her head with her hands clasped together and squeezing her back. She heard a couple of satisfying cracks from her back and proceeded up to her neck, rotating her entire head to relieve tension in her neck.
She put on her fluffy slippers and headed to the kitchen to make herself an iced matcha latte. She started to boil some water while she got out her matcha powder and liquid sweetener and put them into her favorite clear cup. It was a present that Jungwon got her, knowing how much she loves to make her matcha lattes in clear cups to see the pale green color and the ice nicely floating in the drink.
She poured the hot water over her dark green paste to melt the flavors together. She headed towards the fridge to take out the milk. She paused when she could practically Jungwon’s voice in her head.
“You better grab the soy milk. You’re going to complain that your stomach hurts later if you grab the regular milk.” Jungwon scolded, grabbing the milk carton out of her hand.
“Fine.” Yua pouted, grabbing the soy milk instead.
Yua chuckled at the way she could hear Jungwon’s nagging even when he wasn’t home. She set the milk carton back in its original place before grabbing the soymilk and poured it over the powder and syrup. She always loved this part, where the dark green liquid turned light green, one of her favorite colors.
After she placed a couple of ice cubes in the cup with a straw, it was ready to drink. She let out a sigh of content when she took a huge sip. The taste of the bittersweet drink in her mouth gave her a boost.
She happily skipped back to her shared office with Jungwon, feeling like she was in a much better mood now that she had gotten her favorite drink. She plopped back into her comfy office chair and wrapped herself in the navy fluffy blanket around her body as she got back to studying.
-------
“One matcha latte with pearls. Regular amount of sugar and light ice please.” Jungwon ordered as he got his card ready in his hand so he could swipe on the machine.
“Would that be all?” The cashier asked, giving him a smile. He simply nodded, waiting to swipe his card.
“Are you sure you wouldn’t want anything else? Cause I sure would like your number.” The cashier gave him another smile, a flirty one.
Jungwon sighed as he signed his name on the machine and put the pen back. “I would appreciate it if you would continue with your job and make my girlfriend’s drink so I can take it back to her quickly. She’s stressed while studying for exams.” Jungwon smiled triumphantly as the cashier automatically backed off, grumbling about how the cute ones were always taken.
He walked back to the table where his friends were sitting and plopped down. “You ordered another drink?” He turned to see Sunoo peeking at the receipt in the younger male’s hand.
“Mhm. Yua’s studying right now for exams and she’s really stressed.” Jungwon explained.
“Oooh look at what a good boyfriend Jungwon is being.” Heeseung teasingly cooed, making Jungwon’s ears go tomato red.
“Hyung became such a simp.” Riki joined in the teasing making Jungwon’s ear go even more red and hot. “Ew a simp for my twin sister.” Riki added on to the joke while he fake gagged.
“No I’m not.” Jungwon protested, placing his hands over his ears.
“Yah yah.” Stop teasing him.” Jungwon threw Jake a grateful look before Jake spoke up again. “The poor shy boy’s ears are going to burst any minute now.”
“Hyung!” Jungwon whined, feeling totally betrayed by Jake as the rest of the group laughed at the younger boy. “You guys are just jealous you don’t even have a girlfriend to treat this way.”
The rest of the boys, except Jay and Sunghoon, groaned at the younger’s remark, knowing it was true. Jungwon had a smirk, knowing he had won this round.
“Order #492!” Jungwon sprang up from his seat when he heard Yua’s drink order, receiving the drink from the employee. The rest of his friends stood up from their seats, knowing that they were gonna leave after Jungwon had gotten his girlfriend’s drink.
“Did you start the song yet, Jungwon?” Jay asked the 04 liner male, making him shake his head.
“I think I’m going to work on it when Yua has exams. Last time I worked on it when she was home, she got sulky with me.” He answered.
Jungwon definitely learned his lesson when his girlfriend gave him the silent treatment, after practically ignoring her for the entire day. It wasn’t the first time it had happened and while Yua had been extremely patient with him, she also was pretty upset that this wasn’t a first time occurrence. These days, Jungwon tried to work on his songs, either in the company’s studio, or in the shared office when Yua had classes.
“I want to have a movie night at my place, who wants to come along?” Heeseung announced, making a couple of the boys answer his question.
However Jay and Sunghoon both said they couldn’t since they had dates with their girlfriends. Which made the rest of the group turn to Jungwon.
“How about you, Jungwon?” Jake asked.
“I think I might stay home tonight. I kind of want to have a movie night with Yua.” He sheepishly answered, bracing himself for the teasing.
“Oi, now he doesn’t even want to watch a movie with us since he got a girlfriend.” Sunoo dramatically said, wiping his nonexistent tears making Jungwon roll his eyes slightly.
“We’ve barely spent time together for the past three days because she was studying for her exams. Yesterday, she was even out for the whole day because she was at the library with her friends.” Jungwon pouted, making the rest of the boys chuckle.
“Alright, alright. You can just join us next time.” Heeseung said, patting the boy’s back.
And with that, the friend group dispersed, going their own ways.
Jungwon headed back to his shared apartment with Yua. The bag that the boba was in was swinging back and forth as he went back home.
I wonder if she’s done with her studies.
-------
Yua banged her head against the desk again, feeling a headache coming along just by looking at the study guide her professor gave to her class.
How am I nowhere near done with my studying??
She groaned as she threw her head back, making it hit on the back of her office chair. She rubbed her eyes, feeling them get very tired after her long hours of studying.
As she was about to get out of her chair, she heard the jingle of the door which indicated someone was punching in the numbers to open the door.
“I’m home, love~” She giggled as she heard her boyfriend announce his arrival in a sing-song voice.
“In the office, Wonie.” She called back, soon hearing the skipping footsteps approaching their shared office.
She giggled again when she saw her cute boyfriend poke his head through the door, the dimples deeply prominent on his soft cheeks. “Guess what I got~” Jungwon sang again, as he waved the plastic bag in his hands.
“You got me boba?” Yua gasped in delight, seeing the delicious drink in his hands.
“Sure did.” Jungwon answered, giving her a kiss on her cheek when he approached her desk. He set the drink next to the computer which Yua immediately snatched up and popped the straw in, taking a sip. Her eyes lit up at the taste of her number one boba drink from her favorite spot and she wrapped her arms around the standing boy’s torso after setting her drink down.
“Thank you, Wonie.” She murmured into his sweater, making him pat her head and smile.
“Anything for you, love.” Jungwon chuckled. “Are you almost done with studying?” He leaned down to see what was on her screen. His nose scrunched up at the confusing mess on her computer. “I don’t get how you can do all of this.”
Yua chuckled at her boyfriend’s cuteness. “It’s my major.”
Jungwon shivered. “Still.” That made Yua chuckle again.
“Well, I kinda wanted to have a movie night today. Are you free to do that?” Jungwon offered the girl.
She paused for a bit, thinking if she did have time. “I’ll probably have time after I finish studying for my calculus class.”
“When will that be?” He asked, making her think again.
“I honestly don’t know, love.” She answered him truthfully. “I’ll let you know when I finish.”
Jungwon was satisfied enough with that answer, nodding at her. “Alright!”
Yua gave him a smile before turning back to her computer. Jungwon gave a slight pout as she turned her back on him.
Well might as well start that project now.
-------
Jungwon was getting restless. Sitting in that chair, in front of his computer with his project open but he didn’t have a clue on what he wanted to create. He knew he had a theme that the company gave him to follow. However he didn’t know what direction he wanted to go.
He leaned back on his chair, letting out a sigh as he looked up at the ceiling. He tore his headphones off and looked over at his girlfriend, who was still focused on her computer and textbooks.
Might as well get snacks for the movie night.
He thought as he stood up from his chair. He put his hoodie back on and a beanie on top of his head before heading out the door and to the convenience store.
It didn’t take him more than thirty minutes to go to the convenience store, get the snacks the couple liked and come back to their shared apartment. He placed the plastic bags on their small counter top where they always ate their meals, and walked back into their office. He peaked back into the office, sighing as he saw his beloved in the same position she was when he left.
He slowly snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her body while putting his chin on top of her head. He buried his face into her neck that was bare from her wearing a loose crop top. He placed a small peck on the base of her neck, sending small shivers down her spine. “When are you finishing, love? I wanna watch the movie with you.”
“I-” Yua cleared her throat. “I’ll probably be done in less than thirty minutes.”
“Can’t you just finish it tomorrow?” Jungwon smirked as he could feel Yua slightly stiffen up at his warm breath going down her neck.
“Be patient, Wonie.” Yua told him, making him pout.
“But I miss you~” Jungwon whined, making Yua laugh at his cuteness.
“I promise I’ll be done in twenty mins. I just need to finish these last two problems.” Yua said to him.
“Fine. You promise right?” Yua nodded at Jungwon’s statement. “Alright then.” Jungwon turned her chair to face him and gave her a light peck on her lips. “That’s for the promise.” He said before giving her another peck. “And that’s the seal.”
He grinned as he backed away from the desk, amused at her red cheeks.
Yua shook her head when her boyfriend exited the room.
“Such a dork.”
-------
As promised, after twenty minutes, Yua was finally able to stand up from her chair and stretch, feeling all the cracks in her back and neck.
“Aigo.” She sighed as she rotated her head like earlier and as if he had freaking super hearing, Jungwon came bounding into the room.
“You’re done!” He exclaimed, pulling her out of the office and into their living room. Yua could feel herself melting when she got to the living room. Jungwon had already turned on the TV and went to the movie they have been meaning to watch for months now. He had all their favorite snacks and drinks out. He even brought out the wine that Yua always loved to drink and the two clear cups they always used for drinking wine together.
“This is all great, Wonie. Thanks.” Yua said before giving her boyfriend a small peck on his cheek.
“Like I said before, anything for you, my love.” Jungwon responded back. He lighty pulled her to the couch, sitting down first before dragging her down. She sat in between his legs, before snuggling up on his chest. Jungwon got a warm blanket and placed it over both of them before laying back down and wrapping one of his arms around her waist.
He hit play and the couple watched as the movie started to play on the TV.
“Was this payback day for what I did last time?” Jungwon whispered into the girl’s ear as she tried to pour some of the wine into her cup.
“Of course not.” Yua giggled before smiling mischievously. “But now you know how I feel when you’re working on your projects all day.”
He chuckled before giving a light peck on the side of her head. “I’m sorry, love. I don’t know how you did it. It felt like torture.”
She giggled as she brought back to his embrace after placing her wine cup back on the coffee table. She set her head on his chest, where she could hear her boyfriend’s heart beating in a steady pace.
Both of them sighed happily as the rest of the night consisted of giggles, cuddles, and lots and lots of wine.

Yua’s love language was physical touch.
Jungwon’s? Not as much.
And that was why Yua was close to going crazy being alone in her and Jungwon’s shared bedroom. She had turned from her left side to right, staring at her phone and her laptop while she tried to pass time. She had gone back from playing genshin on her computer to watching youtube videos on her phone to playing her favorite playlist on spotify.
She grumbled as she threw off her covers and put on her fluffy slippers as she exited out of the bedroom and into their shared office. The room consisted of two desks on each side of the room, each side being decorated according to their taste.
She peeked her head inside the office room, seeing Jungwon in the exact position she saw him earlier: his black hair facing the door with his big black headphones over his ears. The cup of tea that Yua had given him two hours ago was still in the same place, barely touched.
“Wonie?” Yua called out but in return she got silence.
She huffed in annoyance as she walked up towards him and yanked his headphones out. “Wonie?”
Jungwon turned around, looking slightly annoyed at the fact that his headphones were no longer on his ears but in his girlfriend’s hands. “Yes, love?”
“Aren’t you hungry?” Yua asked, making Jungwon turn to the clock on the wall. It showed that it was currently 6 in the evening, about the time that both of them would eat dinner together.
However Jungwon was more focused on getting his work done. “Not really. I want to eat after I finish this.”
Yua pouted. She didn’t eat a lot. She usually would eat with Jungwon since he always coaxed her to eat more so she wouldn’t be hungry two hours later.
“But I’m kinda hungry right now.” She whined slightly, tugging on the sleeves of his hoodie.
“I’m sorry, love. I have a meeting with the producer tomorrow afternoon and I want to finish this song now so I can have time to revise through it tomorrow morning. You can eat with Riki. He’s downstairs with the other hyungs.” Jungwon offered, giving her an apologetic smile.
Yua sighed in defeat. “Fine.”
She left the room and got her phone from underneath the bed covers before she called up her twin. After two rings she heard a familiar voice on the other side.
“What’s up?” Riki asked and Yua could already hear the chaos in the background.
“I wanna eat dinner. Let’s eat together.” Yua answered, still sulking about having to eat with her twin instead of her boyfriend.
“Eat with Jungwon hyung.” Riki said confused since Yua rarely asked him to eat with her.
“Jungwon is working on his project right now. He said he’s meeting a producer tomorrow.” Yua grumbled. Of course, she supported him in whatever he did. She knew that this was his dream since he was a young kid but she couldn’t help but feel kind of sad when he rejected her offer to have dinner together.
Jungwon was a songwriter who worked under the same label as all his friends. It was the way that all seven of them became close. While some members were there as dancers and choreographers, most of them sang and wrote songs for the company’s artist and occasionally posted their own stuff on their personal accounts. On the other hand, his girlfriend took a more “traditional” route. She was a computer science major at one of the best universities in Seoul. Jungwon didn’t understand how she dealt with all those equations and coding stuff that made his head hurt just by looking at it.
Even though the thought of the concept of having deadlines and being stressed out by their work seemed like a similar problem for both of them, they found each other not totally understanding the other person’s troubles. They have worked through most of those struggles in the beginning of their relationship, but they still seemed to have their moments of frustration at the other person, especially since they were living together. However, now being with each other for almost two years, they learned how to understand the other person’s work ethics or patterns so there weren’t any hard feelings.
However, of course, there were days where Yua did feel slightly lonely without her boyfriend’s cuddles.
“Is that Yua? Tell her to come down with Jungwon. Jay made a big dinner today.” Yua could hear Jake on the other side talking to Riki.
“Just come down and eat with us. We’re setting the table now.” Riki informed her, making Yua hum as an answer.
She hung up the phone and went to her room to get a hoodie to throw on. She peeked back into the room to see Jungwon with his headphones back on. She sighed as she simply went into her phone and messaged Jungwon that she was going down to eat with everyone else
He’s not going to check until he finishes his project anyways.
She left her apartment and got onto the elevator to go down to the 7th floor, where Jake and Sunghoon lived together. But everyone else coming over to eat together and hanging out wasn’t a rare occurrence.
As soon as she got to the apartment and put in the code to open the front door, she could hear the same chaos she heard on the phone. It seemed like the boys had been playing games, hearing them arguing about who cheated, who wins, and how it wasn’t fair that they won.
Yua took off her slides and headed to the kitchen to see Jay alone in the kitchen, making dinner. He was the first to notice her arrival, greeting her warmly.
“Yua, you’re here? Sit down and I’ll get dinner done.” Jay told her, going back to the seaweed soup he was making.
“No I can help, oppa. What can I help with?” Yua asked, pulling her sleeves up.
“Hm then, can you get the spoons and chopsticks?” Jay asked, making Yua mutter “ok”.
“Is Jaein unnie coming?” Yua questioned, making her way to the drawers with the utensils.
“She should be here by now.” Jay said, checking his phone for a brief second. “She says she’s bringing cake too.”
“Oh yay!” Yua let out a small cheer, making Jay chuckle at the girl’s reaction.
“How come you came alone? You always come with Jungwon.” Jay asked, immediately killing the younger girl’s mood.
“He’s working on a project.” Yua glumly replied to Jay’s question, making him nod in response.
“Don’t worry about some of the things he does when he’s working. You know he doesn’t mean it right?” Jay tried to comfort Yua.
“I know. And I love him for being extremely hard working. But sometimes I wish he would take some breaks and not concentrate on his work for the whole day.” Yua admitted. She knew exactly what Jay was talking about. When Jungwon was working, especially on his song projects, he didn’t give much attention to anything else around him. Just solely on his project.
Jay patted the younger girl’s back when the bell rang. Yua could hear the two youngest in the room rush to the door, and she heard a distant cheer from Riki, bragging to Sunoo that he opened the door first.
“Aigo. You guys are still arguing like 7 year olds about that?” Yua’s ears perked up when she heard a familiar voice and she saw a smile form on Jay’s face.
Soon a familiar face showed up to the kitchen with a cake box in her hand. “Hey baby.”
Jaein giggled as Jay came up to her, giving her a kiss on the cheek while wrapping his arms around her waist. “Hey.” She responded.
That’s when she spotted Yua. “Hey Yua.”
She escaped Jay’s embrace, ignoring his whining to give a hug to the younger girl. “Hey unnie. How are you?”
“I’m good. That internship is kicking me in the ass though.” Her sentence made Yua giggle. “Where’s Jungwon? Isn’t he always here with you?” Jaein asked, making Yua pout again.
“He’s working on a project.” Yua whined. “He’s been practically ignoring me all day. He won’t come out of that damn office.”
Jaein patted the younger girl. “It’s ok. I swear the boys in this friend group are like that. Jay’s like that too sometimes. You just gotta be patient with them since what they’re working on is important to them.”
“I know.” Yua sighed. “But I just miss him.”
“Maybe he’ll finish in a bit. He always finishes by the end of the day right?” Jaein reassured the girl, making her nod.
“Yeah he does.”
“Then that’s good. After this dinner, I’ll pack you some leftover food and a piece of cake. Give it to him when you get back.” Jaein clapped her hand together, making her way over to Jay.
She got the side dishes from Jay and placed them on the dining table.
“Ja~ Let’s eat!”
-------
Yua carried a paper bag that held the leftover food and cake that Jay and Jaein had packed for Jungwon. She heard the ding, indicating that the elevator had made it to the floor and she got off, making her way to her apartment.
“I’m back!” She announced once the front door closed behind her. She placed the paper bag on their coffee table in the living room and headed towards the office again. She pouted when she got no response back.
She huffed when she saw Jungwon still in the same position as she left him before going to Jake and Sunghoon’s place. She debated on whether or not she should leave the room but she was craving his touch too much.
Jungwon rubbed his eyes, stretching his back a bit by leaning back on his computer chair. Yua took that opportunity to place her legs on either side of him and sit on his lap. She buried her face in the base of his neck and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Love?” She heard Jungwon call her in confusion.
“I missed you.” Yua mumbled. “I won’t bother you. I just wanna stay here.”
Jungwon chuckled, Yua feeling the vibration on his chest. “Aww did my girlfriend miss me?”
Yua nodded her head, making Jungwon chuckle again.
“Ok I’ll let you stay here. If you record some harmonizations for me.” Jungwon said, making Yua whine.
“Woniee.”
“Please, love?” Jungwon asked. “My song is missing one single thing and I think your pretty voice would make it perfect.”
Yua blushed, hearing Jungwon complement her voice. “Fine.” She mumbled, lifting her head from his chest.
Jungwon made a silent cheer, handing her another pair of headphones and getting the mic ready.
-------
Jungwon had his right hand occupied on his computer mouse and his left hand patting his sleeping girlfriend’s back. His chin was on the top of her head, the smell of the shampoo tickling his nose. He was so close to being done with finishing this song.
As soon as he finished editing the last section on his song, he sighed in relief. He was about to let out a small cheer when he remembered Yua, who was still on his lap.
He lightly shook Yua, gently calling out her name. “Yua? Love? I’m done. You can go to sleep on the bed.”
He felt Yua slightly stir on his chest as she lifted her head off his chest. “Hm?”
“I’m done, love. Let’s go to bed.” Jungwon gently whispered.
“Ok.” Yua answered but obviously had no intentions of getting off his lap.
“Is my girlfriend too lazy to walk there herself?” Jungwon cooed, making Yua nod.
He chuckled as he stood up, Yua’s legs naturally wrapping around his waist. He stabilized her, putting his arms around her waist and walked out of the room. He pushed their bedroom door open as he gently placed her on their bed.
“You still need to wash up and get ready for bed.” Jungwon told her, making Yua grumble and whine.
He let out a laugh when Yua reached her arms out, indicating she wanted Jungwon to pick her up again. He reached down and pulled her, only to have her climb on top of him and wrap her legs around her boyfriend again.
Jungwon smiled, accepting his fate and walked over to the bathroom. He placed her on the counter and grabbed both of their toothbrushes before putting toothpaste on the bristles.
Yua mumbled a small thank you after he handed her the toothbrush. She started to lazily brush her teeth and washed her face afterwards which was quickly followed by the array of skin care products she used. She changed into her pajamas and jumped into the bed, which Jungwon was already lying on. She snuggled up to his chest, feeling his arms wrap around her waist again.
“I missed you today.” Yua mumbled into Jungwon’s chest, letting his scent engulf her senses.
“Yeah?”
Yua hummed as an answer, making Jungwon pull her closer and place a kiss on the top of her head. “I’m sorry, love.”
“It’s ok…” Yua mumbled out and Jungwon could already tell that she was drifting off into sleep.
“Next time I’ll pay more attention to you.” Jungwon promised, making Yua only to hum back. “I love you.”
Yua chuckled, feeling sleepiness come over her. “I love you too.”

✩ Summary: The holidays are not always stars and sprinkles, but with a right friend group, it will always end with laughs and a somewhat kid-like decorated cake.
✩ Pairing: OT7
✩ Genre: fluff, slight crack
✩ Word count: 1.5K
✩ Warnings: mentions of cursing, Riki just being a little sh** tbh- *let me know if there's anything else I should add ^^*
✩ A/N: keep in mind that the group is a bit older than they actually are (so Heeseung is 22-23ish which puts him at first year of being a graduate student, and for everyone else...y'all can do the math haha)
The older boys winced as the voice of a 5’2 girl echoed through the apartment.
“Y-you’re going to have Riki, Aeyeon, and Sunghoon on your team for making desserts for our holiday dinner.” Jake barely got out, not missing the piercing glare that the younger girl shot at them as he announced the teams for this year.
Every year, the friend group got together for the holidays, making dinner and eating together. Since all of them except for Jay and Aeyeon were international students, buying a ticket to go back for 3 weeks seemed more like a waste and they felt like they should rather spend it during summer break. Jay and Aeyeon would kindly offer their shared apartment that was given to them by their parents, for all of their friends during the holidays since the school did not allow any students to stay during winter break. Each year, the friend group would separate into equal teams: one team would make the main courses and the other team would make the desserts and bring the drinks. This had been a tradition since the 01 and 02’s became friends and they just had added more people to the group as the years went on.
“But why do I have to have them in my group?” Sieun exclaimed, emphasizing the I and my. “Have you seen the way that they are in the kitchen?”
“Of course, but the universe has spoken. This is your destiny!” Heeseung exclaimed in a very dramatic voice, making Sieun roll her eyes.
“Destiny my ass. You guys are just not re-picking the names because you don’t want either of them on your team.”
“Well, baby…” Jay trailed off, trying to console his girlfriend, but obviously it wasn't working.
“Just suck it up and work with them. If they’re being a bother you can just do it all yourself anyways.” Sieun whipped her head around to Sunoo who was nonchalantly sitting on the chair.
“Then why don’t you try working with them, oppa?” She hissed out, seconds away from practically lunging at him.
“Oh me? Hell no. I don’t want wrinkles at 21.” He sassed back, making her huff out in frustration.
“You really can’t send someone over from your team to mine?” Sieun turned around asking the other boys.
“Well…we could but…we have a lot more dishes to prepare so…We’re going to need more people.” Jay’s voice was notably getting softer and softer at his girlfriend’s puppy eyes.
Yes, when she was angry she was quite intimidating for some of the boys, since she did do kickboxing and still did. But she still was an adorable sibling-like girl that they would protect at all costs. And especially to Jay, who was dating the girl, he was having a hard time ignoring her puppy eyes and pouty face.
“You reeeaalllly can’t?” She dragged out, pulling out her best puppy eyes.
Jay tried to look anywhere but Sieun’s eyes.
“Come on, hyung. Don’t be a simp.” He heard Sunoo call out from the couches. He leaned down and gave his girlfriend’s pouty lips a small peck before ruffling her hair.
“I’m sorry, baby. But we can’t re-pick.” Jay told her. “Besides, you’ll be fine. It can’t be that bad.”
-------
Oh but it was that bad.
Sieun was already internally sighing at the mess that she would have to clean up after baking. She was somewhat relieved that Jay and Jungwon were coming by in a bit, just to see how things were turning out. She was internally crying at how the baking process was going and she wanted to honestly huddle up in her bed and just sleep it off.
“No Riki- You can’t mix it like th-”
Sieun regretted even doing her hair and makeup for the day when she had flour all over her face and hair. Riki’s excitement to mix the cake batter had resulted in him mixing too hard.
“Oppa you shouldn’t-”
And it was even frustrating when Sunghoon didn’t learn anything from Riki’s mistake, spilling flour all over Sieun, once again, while vigorously mixing the cookie batter.
“Aeyeon- Riki- you can’t decorate the cake like that-”
She watched in horror as Riki practically threw the piping bag and spatula behind him and started to ice the cake with his bare hands.
“YAH NISHIMURA RIKI!” Her voice boomed across the kitchen and finally that was when the three of her friend’s looked up with an ‘oh shit’ look on their face.
“YOU HAVE A FREAKING SPATULA IN FRONT OF YOU! THAT’S WHAT SPATULAS ARE FOR!”
“Well, you can use a spatula since you go to a fancy ass culinary school for shit like this. Me? I don’t even know how to use it so I’m being more efficient by spreading it with my hands.” Riki shrugged off.
“Being efficient? At what? Spreading germs faster with your dirty ass hands all over the cake?” She huffed out.
Sieun was a perfectionist. There was no doubt about it. The friend group had seen her on multiple occasions where she was extremely hard on herself and there were times where it was needed for her to give herself a break. But it didn’t help right now that she was stuck with her friends, who were the three worst people in the kitchen, helping her make desserts. And on top of that, her period decided to show up a week before expected. And not just any day. It was her second day. Which meant her flow was the heaviest, her cramps and back pains were the absolute worst, she was extremely tired and her emotions were going haywire. She felt stupid for wanting to cry in the situation however she couldn’t do anything but blame her annoying hormones for her emotional freakouts.
“It’s kind of working tho…” Aeyeon trailed off, going back to the cake.
“Of course it’s working! It was my idea, duh.” Riki exclaimed, completely oblivious to Sieun’s eyes of disbelief that were starting to well up with tears.
“Hey how is baking go….ing…?” At the absolute perfect timing, Jay and Jungwon walked into the apartment, inviting themselves in and were not only completely thrown off by the mess but also Sieun’s red eyes that had tears, which were threatening to fall down any second.
“Baby? What’s wrong?” Jay rushed over to her side, holding her cheeks in his big hands.
“I just can’t take it!” Sieun started to cry, hot heavy tears falling from her eyes and gathering at her chin. “I-I-I just wanted to make a nice cake for everyone but it’s like nothing went according to plan and- and '' She sniffled out as Jungwon walked past her.
“...Love, what happened.” He asked Aeyeon, who smiled sheepishly.
“Ask Riki.”
“Riki?”
“I don’t know. We were just having fun. It’s not my fault that Sieun was being more emotional than usual.”
It didn’t register to him what he had said but before he could, it was too late.
Sieun was halfway out the door with Jay, who was walking out with her trying to console her. Aeyeon, Jungwon, and Sunghoon looked at the tall male who now had a face of realization. But when he ran outside to talk it out with her, Jay’s car was nowhere to be seen in the parking lot.
--------
Sieun couldn’t be mad for long. But she especially couldn’t stay mad for long when she saw a nicely decorated cake with the words “We’re sorry” in the middle, which Sieun thought was very cute that it wasn’t perfectly piped but she still appreciated it.
She couldn’t help but practically melt on the sofa when she saw the cake and laugh when Sunoo exposed the youngest friend.
“He stayed up all night watching baking videos to perfectly decorate that cake!” Sunoo squealed when Riki practically pounced on the older male, trying to silence Sunoo.
“So do you forgive us?” Sieun couldn’t say no to Aeyeon’s big eyes and clasped hands.
Jay gave her a slight squeeze as she nodded. “I forgive you. I’m also sorry. I reacted way too emotionally.”
Aeyeon let out a small giggle before moving away from Jungwon’s side and squinted her eyes at her older brother. “Oppa move. I wanna hug Sieun.”
But before Jay could even protest, Sieun scooted over to the edge of the sofa and dragged Aeyeon next to her, making the two girls giggle.
“Hyung, your girlfriend stole my girlfriend.” Jungwon whined from the second sofa that was across the room.
“Hey your girlfriend also stole mine so-”
Both girls giggled at their pouty boyfriends, cooing at how cute they were, with the other boys’ teasing Jay and Jungwon’s sulky faces.
“Ok so can we agree that we’re going to be more fair with the teams next year?” Sieun spoke up, still cuddling Aeyeon in her arms.
Heeseung pondered on it for a bit before answering the younger girl, which she most definitely didn’t appreciate, so much so that she all the sudden didn’t care about honorifics at that moment. “Hmm….no”

“Met you in October”
Jua walked out of the music room where the music club meeting was held.
It was only October, however the club’s president decided it was a good idea to start practicing for the talent show that would be held during the Winter Festival at the end of the school year.
She held her guitar strap that was wrapped around her right shoulder while she had her school backpack on her left shoulder. She walked towards the front of the school before groaning that it was raining heavily.
“Yah Park Jua, make sure you bring an umbrella. It's gonna rain today!”
“Ok oppa!”
She lightly cursed under her breath when she thought back to what her older brother had said in the morning before he left for his morning classes.
She shivered as she pulled her jean jacket closer to her body, the rain making the early October weather colder than it was. She debated if she should call Jay before she felt something cover the top of her head.
She looked up to see a white umbrella but her eyes widened when she saw who was holding it.
Park Sunghoon
A junior who was loved by everyone in her college. Not only did he have good looks and a charming personality, he got good grades and participated in a lot of extra curricular activities, making him well known to almost every student.
Jua had seen him multiple times at her shared house with Jay since Sunghoon was in the same friend group as her older brother. Little interactions here and there but had she never properly interacted with the older male.
“You look like you need this.” Sunghoon smiled when he looked down at her. “Is Jay coming to pick you up?”
Jua shook her head. “He’s got stuff with the student council.”
“I can take you home if you’d like.” He suggested. “I got nothing to do anyways.”
“Really?” The older male nodded, making Jua give a sheepish smile. “Well then, if it’s not a nuisance to you, that would be great.”
The walk to Jua’s house consisted of the two getting to know each other. By the end of the walk, Jua learned that Sunghoon spent most of his childhood figure skating and was a professional skater until he was 19. His favorite ice cream flavor was coffee, along with his favorite color being white and favorite season being autumn.
“Wow, you were a competitive figure skater until you were 19?”
“Mhm.”
“That’s so cool.” Jua commented. “I wish I did something like that consistently for most of my life ”
“It was pretty fun. My mom wanted me to do it since I was so shy.” Sunghoon explained to her.
“You were shy?” She looked up, kind of surprised, considering he was one of the most popular boys in her college.
“Yeah, I used to be really shy with strangers and had a hard time talking with them when I first met them.”
“You talked sweet and a little slow; warm eyes and your hands cold”
Juna let out a small ahh while bringing her hand up to her lips and softly blowing warm air into her hands.
“Cold?” Sunghoon asked.
“Yeah. I should’ve worn a thicker jacket today.” Jua responded, continuing to blow her hand to warm it up.
Suddenly a hand wrapped around hers, making her squeal softly in surprise. What made her even more surprised was that the hands were cold.
“I was kind of hoping that this would warm your hands up a little bit.” Sunghoon admitted, sheepishly smiling.
“I don’t know if it’s helping much.” She giggled. “Your hands are a little cold.”
He brought his free hand up to his lips and blew warm air like what Jua was doing earlier before bringing her hands into it.
The younger female didn’t notice how big Sunghoon’s hands were compared to hers. Her small hands fit nicely under his free left hand.
“Warmer?”
Jua nodded her head. “Mhm. Much warmer.”
-------
“How come we’ve never talked before?” Sunghoon laughed as they got to the apartment that Jua lived in with her older brother.
Jua questioned the same thing. They hit it off so well while walking to her house and a small part of her didn’t want this walk to end yet.
“I don’t know. I kind of like talking to you.” Jua admitted, giving him a small smile
“I liked talking to you too.” Sunghoon returned the smile, his lips stretching out into his signature smile with dimples forming on his cheeks. “I really liked walking with you too. It was nice.”
“Then…” Jua slightly hesitated to what she was gonna ask next. “Can I have your number?”
He looked at her slightly surprised. “Wow you stole my question.”
She giggled as he took the phone she had taken out of her back pocket, as Sunghoon took his phone out of his pocket and handed it to the shorter girl.
He smiled at her when he was done putting in his number and handed the phone back to her. “Let me know when you need some company walking back home. I’ll be more than happy to do this again.”
Jua waves goodbye to the older male before going into her apartment building and into her home.
She dropped her bag on her bed and her guitar case in its respective place in her room before changing into comfier clothes.
When she came back to her bed, she noticed she got a new message.
Sunghoon: Do you have music club tomorrow too?
-------
“You sang soft like a sore throat”
Jua was sitting in the field with her guitar, practicing the performance she would present in the Winter Talent Show. She was still trying to figure out how to sing the song with a fingerpicking pattern, instead of simply strumming it.
“I didn’t know you played guitar.”
The girl jumped a bit before looking up to see a smiley Sunghoon, a small dimple forming on his cheek.
“You scared me.” She exclaimed, making the older male laugh at her reaction.
“Sorry.” He apologized before sitting down next to her. “What are you practicing?”
“A song for the talent show.” She responded, making some room for him next to her guitar.
“What song do you plan on doing?” He asked, noticing a couple of music sheets in front of her which were being held down by her bag in case the cold wind decided to take it away.
“I was thinking of doing Tell Me You Love Me by Bol4.” She answered. “I really like that song, especially with the guitar.”
“Is it gonna be a duet piece?” Sunghoon asked, noticing that the two music sheets in front of her were slightly different after looking at it closer.
“Mhm I was planning on asking Jay oppa to sing with me, since the president of the music club thinks that involving my brother would attract more attention.” She explained.
Which was something that wasn’t completely false. Not only was Jay popular for his looks or his intelligence but he was well known in their university for having a heavenly voice. He had sung in a couple of talent shows, making many girls in the school fall for him.
“Isn’t Jay really busy though?” Sunghoon pointed out. “With student council and being on the basketball team, along with his academics?”
That’s when Jua realized what Sunghoon said was probably true.
“Stupid Jua.” She thought. “Of course Jay oppa can’t do it with you. He’s barely home anymore and always at school.”
“Ahh I completely forgot about that.” She pouted, thinking of anyone else that could do it with her.
“Should I ask Sunoo to do it with me?” She thought aloud, forgetting that Sunghoon was next to her.
“Wow I’m right next to you and completely forget about asking me?” Sunghoon’s comment snapped her out of her thoughts, turning to see his hand over his chest with an exaggerated pout on his lips.
“Well would you like to do it with me?” Jua laughed, completely forgetting that the male was able to sing as well.
“Depends on how well you play.” Sunghoon playfully winked as he gestured to the girl to start.
She took a deep breath before playing what she had practiced for weeks on end. The male slightly closed his eyes and nodded his head while listening.
Jua bit her lips as she strummed the last chord, waiting for a reaction from the older male.
“You have a really nice voice.” He finally said, a sigh of relief coming from Jua. “It’s really soft and it goes very well with the guitar as well as the finger picking pattern you're using.”
“Thanks.” She was getting slightly embarrassed at the compliments he was throwing at the girl.
“You wanna sing again and I’ll join in with harmonizations.” Sunghoon suggested.
Jua nodded as she started to play the song again, singing the familiar lyrics.
As she did expect Sunghoon to join in, she was still surprised at the new edition to the song.
Sure she had sung with Jay many times before, since it was a hobby for both siblings, but singing with Sunghoon was something different. His smooth lower voice blended perfectly with her soft one. Her ears almost melted at the sweetness of his voice, almost making her stop singing just to hear his voice alone.
“I think we could add piano instrumentals in here too.” Sunghoon commented when they finished. “I can do the chords while you play the guitar.”
Jua thought about it for a bit, thinking of how she could arrange it. “I can work on the arrangement. I’ll give you the finished sheet music in two days.”
“Can I just see yours?” Sunghoon scooched closer to her and looked over her shoulder to see the sheet music she was using.
“I think we could add little parts in here to do with your right hand so you can add key melody parts to make the piano instrumental more interesting.” Jua said, turning to face him. “What do you think?”
She immediately regretted it when she turned around. She was so close to his face that her nose almost brushed up against his and she could feel his soft breaths hitting the side of her cheek.
She quickly turned her head back to see the sheet music instead.
“We could do this.” Jua cleared her throat as she played a small melody on her guitar.
“Hm, that sounds nice.” Sunghoon nodded. “Or we could…..”
He trailed off when he realized that he didn’t have a piano with him.
“Why don’t we practice after school today or tomorrow in the music room? Then I can show you what I was thinking about the piano.” He suggested making Jua think for a bit.
“I can't do it today.” She answered. “I have a project due tomorrow and I’m going to the library to finish it up.”
“I can do it tomorrow though.” She told him.
“Ok then tomorrow at…..4pm?” Sunghoon asked.
“That works.” She nodded as an answer.
“Ok then tomorrow at 4pm in the music room.” He quickly summarized their plans as Jua nodded again.
Sunghoon stood up and slung his backpack over his shoulders while flashing her a smile. “I’ll look forward to it then.”
Jua couldn’t help but smile as she felt a warm feeling spread across her chest while seeing his retreating figure slowly disappear into the school building.
-------
Jua nervously sat in the music room, waiting for Sunghoon to come. He said his classes ended at 3:30, however it was 4:10 and he still wasn’t here. She looked back at her phone and at the message he had sent fifteen minutes ago.
Sunghoon: I’m going now :D
Jua: Okie~~
The department building he was coming from wasn’t that far away from the music department. It wouldn’t take fifteen minutes to get to where she was.
“Should I call him?” She thought as her finger hovered over the call button.
However before she could press the button, the door of the club room opened and in came a smiley ice boy holding two iced drinks.
“I’m sorry I was late.” Sunghoon apologized. “I wanted to get drinks for both of us but the lines were longer than I expected them to be.”
He handed her the drink, a cold drink that looked to be a latte. She took a sip and gave a hum of satisfaction.
“How did you know I like caramel lattes?” She asked while she took another sip, happy that she got to drink her favorite drink in a long time.
“Lucky guess.” Sunghoon answered, giving her a small smirk.
Jua lifted her eyebrows, showing him that she wasn’t even a bit convinced. Sunghoon’s smirk slowly faltered and was replaced with a sheepish smile. “I may or may not have asked Sunoo.”
“You could’ve just asked me.” She chuckled.
“I wanted to surprise you.” He pouted, making her laugh.
“Well I was surprised.” She told him. “I haven’t been able to buy this a lot because it’s so expensive to buy coffee often.”
“So thank you.”
“You're welcome.” Sunghoon smiled again and Jua swore that she felt her heart skip a beat.
She took another sip before clearing her throat and placing the drink on the table. She clapped her hand together to get Sunghoon’s attention.
“Should we start?”
-------
“I feel like I haven’t seen you much recently, Euuunnnnnn.” Jua’s friend, Eunyoung pouted and gave her a hug.
“She’s too busy with Sunghoon hyung.” Sunoo teased, lightly chuckling when he saw Jua’s cheeks turning red.
“Sunghoon?” Eunyoung exclaimed. “As in Park Sunghoon?!”
“Do we know any other Sunghoon’s?” Sunoo sassed back, making Eunyoung smack his arm.
“But back to Jua.” Eunyoung whipped her head back to face her friend. “PARK SUNGHOON????”
“Yeah.” She answered, getting shy just thinking about the older male. “Sunghoon oppa. The guy who’s a year older than us.”
“Omo omo omo look at her blushing.” Eunyoung said, pointing to her friend’s burning cheeks.
“Stop.” Jua whined, placing her hand over her burning cheeks.
“I’m happy that you feel happy with him but be careful, alright?” Eunyoung told her, putting a serious expression on.
“Careful? Of Sunghoon oppa?”
“He’s nice, but he’s known for not being able to keep a girl for a long time. He’s a huge flirt, Jua. I had a sunbae in my class last year that had a small thing with him. He said all these sweet things to her and was even seen going on small dates with her outside of school but he ended up breaking her heart when he rejected her after her confessing. She was a mess in class for a couple of months after that.” Eunyoung explained.
“Oh….” Jua trailed off, thinking of all the things and words Sunghoon has done and said for her so far to her.
“But it might be different with you.” Eunyoung said, acting like she just hasn’t implied that Sunghoon could be a player and Jua had the potential of being heartbroken by him. “Just be careful.”
Jua simply nodded as Eunyoung gasped, looking at her phone.
“Oh I just got a text from Juyeon. I almost forgot we had a date today but I’ll see you tomorrow, ok? Bye Jua! Bye Sunoo!”
Jua waved at her friend, thinking back to what Eunyoung had said before.
“You ok?” She was pulled out of her thoughts from Sunoo’s voice.
“Hm? Yeah. I’m fine.” She mumbled out.
Even though Sunoo wasn’t convinced, he let it go.
“He’s different. He’s gonna be different this time.”
-------
I know you were dangerous and I hate myself for letting you (w)in
Jua sat on a stool, backstage of the talent show, going over the chords again and making sure she didn’t mess up on stage.
“You’ll do amazing.” She jumped at a familiar voice coming up behind her.
He handed her a cup of her favorite drink. “I was thinking you would want this.”
Jua quietly thanked him before taking a sip from the drink. She took a deep breath as she put the cup down beside her stool.
“Ha… I’m so nervous.” She breathed out, rubbing her hands together; a habit that only came out when she was extremely anxious about something.
Sunghoon grabbed her hand and forced the girl to look up at him.
“Listen. You’re gonna do great. You practiced so much for this.” He reassured her. “People are gonna love your voice. I love it so I’m pretty sure the audience will adore it too.”
She blushed at his compliment and quietly thanked him again.
“I don’t perform as much as Jay oppa does. A lot of people have heard his voice before and they absolutely adore his voice.” She said, her small hands still wrapped in Sunghoon’s. “So I’m a little nervous. What if I don’t live up to their expectations? What if they don’t like my voice because I can’t do the crazy high notes like him or have the same skills he has?”
“Your voice is different from his.” Sunghoon told her, running his thumbs across her hands, hoping it would calm her down “But it doesn’t mean it’s better or worse. It’s just different.”
“But what if it is worse?” Jua groaned, taking her hands out of Sunghoon’s and into her face.
“Trust me. I know both of your voices well.” He gently brought her hands out of her face. “Your voice is amazing just as it is. You don’t need crazy voice techniques because your voice is beautiful the way it is, alright? So don’t worry. You’ll do fine.”
Jua wasn’t too sure of herself but she didn’t say anything back since the president of her club peaked in.
“Jua-yah, you’re on in five minutes. Get ready.”
“Alright sunbae.” The president gave her a thumbs up before slipping out to check up on the other performers.
Jua took another deep breath before turning to Sunghoon. “Ok I think I’m ready.”
He smiled before he nodded. “Let’s go up then.”
They both walked over to the edge of the stage, waiting for their signal.
When the president of the club gave them a small thumbs up from the opposite end of the stage, Jua went on the stage with her guitar first, Sunghoon following in after her.
She sat on the stool that was set next to the keyboard, while Sunghoon took his seat in front of the
keyboard, getting ready to play.

Jua looked back at him and simply nodded before counting the beats into the song by knocking on her guitar.
Sunghoon first started out with a small melody for the intro with Jua going in with her first chord, matching his melody with the respective chord.
Jua started out the first verse with only her singing and she soloed all the way to the chorus. Although she was singing the chorus as well, Sunghoon had harmonized with her at certain parts, highlighting them. Hearing Sunghoon’s melodic voice with hers slightly calmed her down, making her more relaxed.
She smiled when he sang the second verse, making eye contact with him as she joined him by singing some of the parts, harmonizing with him.
Sunghoon lightly laughed when she sang the “oh boy” while smiling and playfully winking at him before turning back to the audience.
The way their voices blended beautifully together never failed to amaze her. She loved singing with him for that sole reason. The way he harmonized with her voice just melted her ears.
They got to the bridge, where they sang the entire bridge together, while Sunghoon took the main melody and Jua started singing a higher pitch, finding a key that perfectly blended with the original one.
She was slightly nervous when they were getting to the end of the bridge. Sunghoon had convinced her to take the high note part. Sure she could do high notes but she couldn’t do them like Jay could. Her voice was more soft and she depended on flipping into her falsetto rather than staying on her regular voice.
She looked at Sunghoon when she could feel herself getting more and more anxious and the high note part got nearer and nearer.
Sunghoon simply nodded and smiled at her, reassuring her with his eyes that she was gonna be fine and do amazing like usual. At the small gesture, Jua could feel herself loosen up again and when the bridge came she felt a lot more comfortable.
When she got to the end of the bridge, she had stopped playing the guitar and held onto the mic, while Sunghoon continued to play the piano softly in the background. Before she could do the highnote, she took a breath and allowed her voice to go higher, hitting the note beautifully.
I did it. I actually did it.
Jua was almost thankful that Sunghoon had the main melody in the last chorus and she was only doing ad libs in the background because she would’ve been too shocked to properly sing.
He proudly smiled at the girl as he continued to sing, trying to focus on finishing the performance they had prepared.
When the two sang the last note together, applause erupted from the audience making the two of them smile widely.
Jua felt happy with the positive outcome and turned to Sunghoon, making him mouth “I told you.” That made Jua chuckle and nod, signaling that he was indeed correct.
They quickly went off the stage and Jua immediately hugged the male.
“Omg that was amazing. Thank you so much for doing this with me! And did you see how many people in the audience were cheering and clapping?”
Sunghoon couldn’t help but smile as he listened to the younger female happily rant about what had just happened on stage.
“You did good.” Sunghoon complemented after the girl’s long rant.
“Aww just good?” Jua said, jokingly pouting.
“You did incredible.” Sunghoon corrected himself, his heart warming at the girl’s expression. His lips widened into a playful smile which made Jua slightly nervous about what he was going to say next.
“So this calls for a celebration.”
-------
“Barbeque?” Jua looked up at the restaurant sign.
“Mhm you good with that?”
“I’ve been craving this lately.” Jua giggled. “How do you do this every time?”
Sunghoon shrugged, smiling. He opened the door for her, allowing her to walk in first. They were led to a table by the host at the front. Soon they were given side dishes and water while an employee had brought them the meat they had ordered.
Sunghoon stood up, starting to cook the meat for him and Jua.
“Oh I can do some too.” Jua told him while reaching for the tongs in his hands, but he shook his head.
“I’m treating you today.” Sunghoon reassured her. “Sit down.”
“But-”
“No, I'm the one that asked to come out and I want to treat you because of your performance today so you don’t need to do anything.” Sunghoon argued, not letting her argue back.
She soon gave up and sat back down and watched the male cook the meat. He dropped some of the meat that was ready into her bowl. She picked it up, wrapping it in the lettuce along with the kimchi and ssamjang, the sauce that was always given at bbq restaurants.
“Is it good?” Sunghoon asked, making Jua nod her head.
She made another one, putting in the meat, kimchi, ssamjang and some other vegetables. But instead of the wrapped goodness going inside her mouth she reared it towards the boy.
“Say ahh.” She said, putting it in front of his mouth.
“For me??”
She nodded but Sunghoon denied. “No, you can eat it. I’ll eat after I’m done making this.”
She pouted as she pushed it forward again. “Please? I feel bad.”
Sunghoon reluctantly opened his mouth, allowing the girl to put the wrap in his mouth.
“Mmm this is good.” His voice was muffled, making Jua giggle.
“Don’t talk with your mouth open.”
“Oops.” Sunghoon said, bringing his hand to his mouth. “Sorry.”
Jua giggled again with his still muffled voice.
Soon Sunghoon had finished cooking all the meat that they had ordered and had placed all the cooked meat on a plate.
The rest of their dinner was filled with laughter and them talking about different topics and Jua couldn’t be happier.
-------
“Ahh thank you for the meal.” Jua exclaimed as she and Sunghoon exited the restaurant.
“You’re welcome.” He said back, satisfied with the girl’s happy expression.
The two walked in a comfortable silence back to the apartment complex that Jua and Jay lived in.
The whole way to her house, Jua couldn’t help thinking about the song that they were singing today and she kept thinking of the lyrics of the song.
If you like me or love me, just say yes
And then I’m your girlfriend and you’re my boyfriend.
She could feel her heartbeat starting to beat faster when she thought of the word girlfriend and boyfriend.
Sure she dated in the past. She dated one guy in highschool and she dated another guy in her grade back in freshman year but it didn’t last very long. Both relationships didn’t end badly, the two just didn’t fit her in the way she wanted to. She quickly learned that the two males weren’t compatible with her so she wasn’t slow to break up with them, not wanting to waste her or their time with a lukewarm relationship.
But something about Sunghoon made her feel at ease and comfortable. She felt so natural around him and she didn’t feel the need to fake anything with him. They had similar favorites in food, they liked similar movies, they both enjoyed music related things.
Being around him just felt so right but she had no idea if he felt the same way. And that was what was stopping her from confessing her feelings to him. In the two months they have spent together preparing for the stage, she could feel herself falling for the older male.
He made her smile and laugh like no one else did. He was a sweetheart, knowing all the right words to say to her and the right things to give her to make her happy.
Do I just say fuck it and tell him that I like him? She thought, fiddling with the necklace that she always wore around her neck.
“Is there something wrong?” Sunghoon’s voice brought her out of her thoughts.
“Huh?” She blinked, wondering why he thought that.
“You're playing with your necklace. You only do that when you're anxious about something or thinking deeply about something." He replied, pointing at her necklace.
One more thing. He knew her. Like how Jay or Sunoo or Eunyoung would know her. He got to know her so well in the short period of time they had spent time together. He knew her likes, dislikes, pet peeves, habits.
“Oh nothing, just thinking." Jua tried to dismiss it quickly, waving her hand.
But Sunghoon didn't let it go. "About what?"
At this time, they had arrived in front of the apartment complex and Jua had stopped ahead of Sunghoon, not being able to face him.
"Uhm I was thinking of...." She trailed off when she felt him gently placing his hands on her shoulder and turning her around.
"What were you thinking of?" He tilted his head and looked at her with wonder in his eyes, curious of what was running inside of her head.
Those damn eyes. They didn't help in making her focus, making her stutter. “Uhm…”
"If you don't wanna say I can tell you what I was thinking of the entire walk." Sunghoon now had brought his hands on her shoulder down, encasing her hands with his.
“I like you. I like you a lot.”
-------
Jua squealed when she rethought the scene that just had happened twenty minutes ago in front of her apartment.
“I like you. I like you a lot.”
Jua blinked her eyes, not believing what she had heard come out of Sunghoon’s mouth.
“You like me…?” She repeated his sentence, blinking rapidly and trying to comprehend his words.
“I do.” Sunghoon nodded. “I like you. I’ve grown to like you in the past two months, we were together almost every day. You are such an amazing girl and I really would like you to be my girlfriend.”
Jua still didn’t know what to say back, not fully comprehending what he had just said.
“C’mon. I gotta get something out of you.” Sunghoon nervously chuckled at the lack of words coming from Jua. He could feel his hands that were in her hands starting to get clammy and he really hoped that she couldn’t feel it.
“I’m sorry. I’m just shocked. I didn’t think the feeling I was feeling about you would be mutual.” Jua sheepishly said, swaying her body side to side from the shyness she had suddenly felt.
“Wait so…you like me too?” Sunghoon asked, confirming her words.
“Yes, Sunghoon oppa. I like you and I would love to be your girlfriend.”
Her breath hitched when she felt him pull her into a hug.
“Thank goodness. I was scared you wouldn’t say yes.” Sunghoon breathed out, still encasing her into his arms.
“Wow, the almighty Park Sunghoon was scared to confess to me.” Jua teased, despite her rapidly beating heart.
“Don’t lie and say that confessing wasn’t the thing you weren’t thinking about while we were walking here.” Sunghoon teased, making her now flustered.
“I hate that you know me so well even though we haven’t known each other that long.” Jua sulked, looking up to face the older male fully, her arms still loosely around his waist.
Sunghoon laughed at his now girlfriend’s sulky expression and patted her head, finding her current state absolutely adorable.
“You should go in now.” Sunghoon stated, letting the girl go. “It’s getting a bit late and I’m pretty sure Jay is worried about you.”
“Jay oppa is just a worrier. He’ll be fine.” Jua waved her hand.
“Jua, it's getting late. You should go in and get some sleep.” Sunghoon said in a slightly stern voice.
“What, you don’t wanna spend more time with me?” Jua pouted again, making him break out of his serious face.
“Gosh your cute face makes it so difficult to argue back.” He murmured under his breath.
“No, I'm saying that you have classes tomorrow so you should get some rest. Don’t you have morning classes tomorrow?” Sunghoon asked, raising one eyebrow up.
“Well….” Jua trailed off, flashing him a sheepish smile. “I do….”
“There you go. I’ll see you tomorrow, ok? You should go in and get some rest.” Sunghoon said, making Jua mumble a small “fine”.
“But one more thing before I go in….”
Sunghoon looked at her, tilting his head. “Hm?”
“Can I get one more hug?” Jua shyly asked, slowly opening her arms out again.
He let out a laugh as he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around her body once again. He gave her a light peck on the forehead.
“Thank you.” Jua told him, smiling brightly at him.
She entered the building and into her elevator and before the door could close she waved to him.
As soon as the door closed she lightly squealed.
“I have a boyfriend now.” She told herself. “And it’s Park Sunghoon.”
Jua looked over at her phone when it rang, signaling she got a new text. She smiled when she saw who had texted her.
Sunghoon: Just got home. :) Good night~~ sleep tight <3
She smiled even wider and let herself fall onto her bed on her back, holding the phone close to her chest.
I have a boyfriend.
-------
Sunghoon: Do you have anything planned tomorrow?
Jua: Nope Why?
Sunghoon: Let’s go out :D 3pm you and me, together.
Jua: Wow we would be together? Who knew?
Sunghoon: -.- Soooo you coming or not?
Jua: What are we doing?
Sunghoon: Secret ;)
Jua: But I wanna knowwwwwwwwwww
Sunghoon: You’ll find out tomorrow :D. So that’s a yes?
Jua: ………. Yes
Sunghoon: Sweet! It’s a date See you tomorrow cutie~ <3
“Yah! Park Jua stop fangirling over the text that Sunghoon oppa sent you yesterday and pick an outfit.” Eunyoung’s loud voice snapped Jua out of her smiley moment as she could feel her phone getting snatched away as well.
“Hey!”
“Sunghoon oppa is coming in thirty minutes and you haven’t even chosen an outfit, girl.” Eunyoung said, shoving an outfit in Jua’s arms.
“What is this-” Jua stared at the pile of clothes in her hands.
“Since you wouldn’t do anything, I chose an outfit that you would like.” Eunyoung replied. “Now go try it on.” She had left the room, letting Jua change into her outfit.
Jua put on the outfit her friend had picked out for her. She looked at herself in the mirror, satisfied with what Eunyoung had given her. She had picked out a brown turtleneck with white pants and a cooler toned brown coat to top it all off.
She stepped out from her bedroom, making Eunyoung squeal.
“Omg you look so good.” She gushed as Jay exited his room.
Jay came out to the living room and handed Jua a scarf and thick socks. “They said it’s gonna be cold today. Make sure you wear this scarf and your boots over these thick socks, ok?”
“Ok mom.” Jua teased, internally grateful for her brother.
Jay rolled his eyes but still ruffled her hair. “I know you act like a child so I have to act like your mom but how many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that?”
Jua playfully stuck her tongue out, making him roll his eyes again.
Before he could say anything back, Jua’s phone rang. She opened it up, seeing a message from Sunghoon, telling her that he had arrived.
“He’s here.” She exclaimed, suddenly feeling nervous.
Eunyoung slightly pushed the shaken girl to the front door. “Go put your shoes on. He’s waiting.”
Jua quickly put on her black boots and opened the door, heading towards the elevator.
She nervously played with her necklace as she felt the elevator land on the first floor.
She walked out of the apartment building, immediately seeing Sunghoon parked in the front spots. He was dressed in a simple outfit, consisting black pants, a light brown turtleneck with a big beige coat. His hair was styled like it normally was but damn did he look good.
As she approached the car, Sunghoon quickly noticed the approaching girl, a smile appearing on his lips.
“Hey.” He greeted her. “You look very pretty.”
Jua blushed at Sunghoon’s words before mumbling. “T-thank you. You look nice too.”
“Wow, just nice? Not handsome? Not dashingly good looking?” Sunghoon teased her. “Where’s the confident girl who asked me for my number the first day we met?”
Jua’s blush got darker as she stuttered out. “You, uhm, you look really really nice today.”
Sunghoon laughed at the girl’s shy state and ruffled her hair. “I’m just teasing you. Let’s go now.”
She walked out to the passenger seat as he took the seat in the driver’s seat.
“Where are we going?” Jua asked when she put her seatbelt on.
“I told you. It’s a secret.” Sunghoon chuckled as his girlfriend groaned at his response.
“You’ll find out when we get there.’
And of course she did. Fifteen minutes after driving, Sunghoon parked in a small parking lot.
“Where are we?” Jua asked as she got out of the car.
“Look at the sign.” Sunghoon pointed to the big sign that was above the entrance of the store.
“A flower shop?”
“Not just a flower shop.” Sunghoon pointed to the small poster on the door.
“We get to make our own?” Jua exclaimed, excitement bubbling up.
“Mhm. You said you wanted to try, right?”
Jua was shocked. She had mentioned it briefly during one of their walks after school. She didn’t think that he would remember it. But there she was in front of an employee, who had welcomed them and was leading them to a table with a basket full of materials they would need to make their very own flower bouquet.
“Here is all you’ll need. You can look around our shop for inspiration, but we encourage you to just do what your creative mind leads you to.” The employee said. “You can create something beautiful with your imagination.”
“I’ve never done this before. I don’t know how mine is going to turn out.” Jua told the employee, making her chuckle.
“Of course this takes practice but do whatever looks right and pretty to you. Every bouquet is unique and different in its own way.” She reassured the college student before leaving the couple.
“Why don’t we make one for each other? I’ll make one for you and you’ll make one for me.”
“I don’t know if it’ll turn out nicely.” Jua mumbled.
“It’s okay.” Sunghoon reassured her. “I’ll like whatever you make. But I’m sure mine will be prettier.”
“Oppa!
Sunghoon simply chuckled while patting her shoulder. He pointed to the employee that was leading the couple over to a separate station while leaving his girlfriend shaking her head at his childness.
The couple got to work, picking out different flowers from the basket and putting it together in a way they pleased.
Sunghoon glanced over at Jua whose tongue was poking out ever so slightly in concentration and smiled at the sight, glad to have brought her here and see her so happy.
When the couple was done with their bouquets, they brought it up to the employee where she would identify all the flowers they had picked out and give them a list of the meanings of each flower.
Jua first handed the employee the bouquet that she had made.
“Ooh you did a very good job. Yours is very pretty.” The employee complimented Jua, making her shyly thank the employee.
She printed out the meanings of each flower for Jua before putting it on a stick and inserting it into the bouquet.
Jua looked at the card, carefully reading each meaning of every flower.
Sunghoon listened to the employee telling him the meanings of the different flowers and his ears slightly perked up when he heard the last meaning of the last flower, standing a bit differently than the others.
But it doesn’t matter right? These are just flowers. They didn’t define his feelings for Jua.
He thanked the employee for the card and the time at the flower shop before exiting to join Jua outside.
“Oppa~ here. For you.” Jua handed him the bouquet she made.
“Thanks. And yours.” He thanked her as she handed her the bouquet he made for her.
“It’s very pretty.” She commented as she took a closer look at the flowers.
“No wonder. The bouquet was inspired by you.”
Jua could feel her cheeks getting warmer and her heart racing. “You’re such a sweet talker, aren’t you?”
Sunghoon shrugged. “I’m just telling the truth.” He smirked at the girl’s flustered state.
“Whatever.” She murmured, shyly heading to the car.
Sunghoon laughed as he ran to catch up with her, trapping her in his arms. “You’re cute when you’re shy.” He whispered at the crook of her neck.
She giggled as his breath hit her neck.
“I have a place in mind for dinner.” Sunghoon told her when they separated.
“Really where?”
“You’ll see when you get there.” Sunghoon sang out as he winked and laughed as the girl whined.
“You and your secrets.” The girl pouted.
“You’ll find out sooner if you get in the car a lot faster.” He laughed again as she quickly climbed into the passenger seat.
“Ok ready!”
Sunghoon climbed onto the driver’s seat and put on his seat belt before turning on his engine.
“Let’s go~~” She sang out, making both of them giggle.
And at that moment, Jua was on cloud nine and she couldn’t imagine a happier time.
-------
The next couple months with Sunghoon was complete bliss for Jua.
They shortly did get busy towards the end of the second semester with final projects, however after winter break started, Sunghoon was all hers. They would see each other almost everyday, going on different dates and spending all of their time with each other.
As the winter break came to an end and the new school year started, Sunghoon and Jua were a well known couple on campus. He would walk her to her classes if he could and they walked home on days they were both available. They would be seen in the library together or eating together during their free periods.
But as time grew, they seemed to grow more separated from each other. Sunghoon, being in this last year, was getting busier, with not only his studies but also the fact that he was looking for jobs after graduating.
Jua understood everything and tried to focus on other things to fill some of the void of Sunghoon not being over as often.
She was ecstatic when they would finally get together but Sunghoon didn’t seem to reciprocate the same feelings. While she would try her best to talk to him, he would answer in the most vague way or he would constantly be on his phone. His body would be there but it was clear that his mind was not 100% present.
They had multiple fights about the current state of their relationship but it would always end with Sunghoon apologizing because Jua would start crying out of frustration. Their relationship was starting to become lukewarm and she was desperate to get it back to their previous state.
She had fallen too hard for the older male and she wouldn’t accept the fact that their relationship wasn’t like before.
She didn’t want to give up but it seemed the male had different plans.
Now I could write 10 songs about 9 ways you fucked me over
“Let’s break up.”
Jua first blinked multiple times, not comprehending what Sunghoon had just said.
“What?”
“Let’s break up.” Sunghoon repeated.
“Why? Did I do something wrong?” She asked, hearing desperation already coming up in her voice.
“No.” Sunghoon simply answered. “I’m just getting busy and this relationship is honestly getting boring to me.”
Boring? Jua could feel her ears closing to all sounds and all she could hear was the voices in her head.
“Is this some kind of child game for you?” Jua softly scoffed. “You come to me when you’re bored, play the game for a bit, and leave when you’re bored again?”
Even saying all these words, Sunghoon didn’t seem sorry in any way. He blankly stared at her as she hastily wiped her tears away from her face. She abruptly stood up, hastily grabbing her thin blazer and bag and putting it on.
She quickly left the cafe, letting the door close behind her. Unconsciously, she looked behind her, through the glass door to see Sunghoon sitting, having no intention in leaving his seat for her and ran after her.
She scoffed at her foolishness as she turned around and continued to walk back home.
She threw off her shoes as soon as she heard the front door close behind her
“Hey Jua. I cut some fru- Wait, why are you crying?” Jay placed the plate on the table and walked towards his sister and slightly bent down to be eye level with her.
Jua looked to the side to avoid his eyes and turned to get away from him, not wanting to show that she was crying.
“Jua, tell me. Why are you crying?” Jay asked again, gently placing his hands on the side of her arms.
“No reason.” She mumbled, shrugging his arms off.
“Jua-yah… tell me. Why are yo-” But before he could finish his question, Jua pushed his hands off her arms and ran into her room, slamming the door behind her.
She sluggishly changed out of her outside clothes and changed into comfier clothes. She went over to her bed and weakly climbed into her bed, pulling her covers up to her neck.
-------
A couple of hours later, she heard her door open and someone came into her room.
“Oppa I told you. I don’t wanna talk about it.”
“It’s not Jay oppa.” A familiar voice made Jua slowly turn away from staring at her wall to face whoever came into her room.
“E-eunyoungie…?” Jua could hear her voice cracking and her best friend looking at her in pity.
“What happened, hm?” Eunyoung gently sat on her friend’s bed, before pulling her into a small hug.
“He broke up with me.” Jua cried out. “He said our relationship was getting boring.”
“That little-” Eunyoung started before hearing Jua’s small whimpers.
She patted her head. “You know, he’s missing out. You’re an amazing girl and he’s just too much of a dick to realize.”
Jua sighed as she wiped her tears away and sniffled.
“You were right, Eunyoung. And I should’ve listened to you.”
-------
Only took you 8 days to forget 7 months together
Jua had finally trudged out of bed with the help of Eunyoung, Sunoo and her older brother. She got ready for her first class of the day and had Jay drop her off at her college before he drove off to his job.
She walked down the familiar halls and spotted Eunyoung and Sunoo leaning on the railings of the ramp, talking. She walked towards them, gaining their attention.
“Jua-yah~~” Eunyoung sang, skipping up to her friend and linking arms with her.
“Oo girlie’s looking cute today.” Eunyoung giggled, looking at Jua’s outfit which consisted of a light blue skirt and a white crop top that was tied in the front with her hair in two braids.
“Than-” Jua’s sentence was cut off and her smile disappeared from her face when she saw Sunghoon walking by. But not alone. He was with another girl that Jua couldn’t recognize.
Not only did that make Jua mad but what made her even more pissed was that he had his arms slung over the girl’s shoulder while they were laughing about something together.
“What nerve he has.” Eunyoung quietly scoffed, shaking her head. “Didn’t he break up with you only-”
“Eight days ago.” Jua finished her sentence, feeling her hands forming into fists.
“Ha… You really were right Eunyoung-ah…” Jua murmured, feeling sudden sadness replacing her annoyance. “I should’ve been careful. He played me like a game for seven months and took him only a week to get over it. While I’m still here… missing him.”
Eunyoung and Junwoo looked at each other, not knowing what to say.
Jua looked at the back of her phone and saw the polaroid in the back of her phone case.
“Huh… I should probably get rid of this right?” She bit her lips while she stared at it.
It was a picture of a polaroid of him and her on one of nights he had stayed over at her apartment. They would buy snacks and drinks on her apartment’s small balcony either talking or watching videos and movies.
-------
We were up till 6 in the morning, 5 days a week. You said 4ever then left before I counted to 3.
“Pfft look at the characters’ reaction.” Jua laughed, pointing at her laptop screen as Sunghoon laughed along with her.
They had just watched half a drama, not even realizing that they had spent the entire night watching it.
“Oh shoot. Is that the sun coming up? Did we really stay up that late?” Sunghoon quickly sat up from the chair and sure enough there was the sun slowly peeking over the tall buildings of Seoul.
“Oh, we really did.” Jua checked her phone to see that it was 6:10 in the morning. “Jay oppa will probably kill me for messing up my sleep schedule like this.”
Sunghoon chuckled at her statement. “That’s just Jay.” He stood up from his seat. “I should really get home. My roommates are probably wondering where I am.”
“You really should. But before that….” Jua jumped out of her chair and into her room, leaving Sunghoon slightly confused on the balcony.
The doe-eyed girl excitedly came out with a polaroid camera in her hand. “I just got this and I wanted you to be in my first picture.”
He chuckled at her excitement and nodded. Jua giggled as she sat back in her chair and angled the camera towards her and Sunghoon with the beautiful sunrise in the background.
Jua eagerly waited for the small polaroid to be printed and when it did she stared at the photo to be developed.
“Aww I love it.” She gushed when it was fully developed.
“Can I take a picture of it?” Sunghoon asked. He wanted it but of course didn’t want to take it away from her since it did come from her polaroid camera.
“Sure.” Jua handed him the polaroid and allowed him to take a picture.
“This is going in the back of my phone case.” She giggled as she took off her phone case for a second to place the polaroid in her clear case before closing it back up.
“Then I’ll make it my background.” Sunghoon grinned as he changed his lock screen to the polaroid, while still maintaining his home screen as a picture it took of him and Jua on one of their dates.
“I need to get going. But get some sleep alright?” He said to her as he was walking towards the front door.
“You too.” Jua told him, leaning against the door frame.
Sunghoon smiled as he leaned over and gave her a quick kiss before opening the door and waving her goodbye.
-------
Loved you a littlе 2 much but I was nevеr the 1
Jua smiled bitterly as she stared at Sunghoon and the girl’s backs slowly disappeared into a different hallway, remembering the meaning of the last flower Sunghoon had used for his bouquet on their first date.
“Begonias can symbolize love and romance but also can be warnings of misfortune.” Jua recited what the card from the floral shop had said.
I should’ve listened…
She thought, regretting the way she pushed all the warnings Eunyoung had given her.
“I fell for him too hard. I gave him all this love. But I was never the one for him.” Jua mumbled as Sunoo and Eunyoung rubbed her back.
“And that’s what sucks the most.”

“Where are we going tomorrow?” Sona whined over the phone, seeing her boyfriend on the other side with his cheeky smile.
“I told you it’s a secret.” Jungwon answered in a sing-song voice, making Sona whine even more.
“Why won’t you tell me?” She gave him her best puppy eyes, trying to convince him.
“Because it’s a secret. And it’s not fair that you’re using your puppy eyes on him. You know that’s basically a weapon to me.” Jungwon warned his girlfriend, trying to resist her cuteness.
“But you won’t tell me where we’re going.” Sona exclaimed while Jungwon almost facepalmed at her argument.
“That’s why I said it was a secret, love~” Jungwon told her. “Just dress pretty like you do every day and I’ll surprise you.”
Sona blushed at his statement. They’ve been dating for a year now but all the nicknames and compliments that Jungwon threw at her still made her heart do somersaults every time.
“Alright.” She mumbled as she slightly covered her red cheeks with her hands. Jungwon cooed at how adorable his girlfriend was.
“I’ll pick you up from class at 3 tomorrow.” Jungwon informed her, making her nod.
“See you tomorrow, Wonie.” Sona waved to him, blowing him a small flying kiss.
Jungwon chuckled as he pretended to catch it. “See you tomorrow, love.”
-------
Sona swayed side to side, making her light long white skirt slightly go out, moving graciously around her ankles. She smoothed her light blue cardigan that was buttoned down all the way as her hands went back into her cardigan’s sweater paws. She made sure the two small butterfly shaped claw clips on either side of her hair that was used to pin back her bangs were even. She checked her outfit one last time in the full length hung in her school bathroom before walking out to where Jungwon was waiting for her.
“Ready to go?” Jungwon asked, extending his hand which Sona gladly held onto. They started walking to the exit and out of the school.
“Did I tell you that you look really pretty today?” He complimented her, making Sona’s cheeks go flaming red. She coughed out slightly, not being able to say anything which, once again, made Jungwon coo at her shyness when it came to compliments.
“You’re too much.” Sona mumbled, feeling shy at her boyfriend’s gaze. Jungwon couldn’t help but chuckle at her words, finding her absolutely adorable at the moment.
Jungwon and Sona soon reached the bus station and saw that the bus was already approaching the station. The couple climbed onto the bus and paid for their fee before going to find a seat.
Jungwon had his hand hovering Sona’s back as he led her to a seat, allowing her to take the window seat as he took the seat near the aisle.
Jungwon took his earbuds, putting one side in Sona’s ear before sticking the other one in his ear as well. She sighed in contentment as she put her cheek on Jungwon’s shoulders, hearing a calming melody flow from the earbuds into her own ears. Her eyebrows wrinkled as each song passed, not recognizing the playlist. And Sona would know as she had listened to every single playlist Jungwon created on his spotify account at least a hundred times each.
“Which playlist is this?” Sona sat up, facing him.
“I made one last night. It’s all of the songs we either like or songs that remind me of you.” Jungwon replied, Sona’s heart warmed up just by his response.
Sona never thought she could find a boy so perfect for her. She haven’t dated many guys but has been in enough relationships and situationships to realize how much of a daydream Jungwon was to her.
It was the small things that he noticed about her. Sona loved music; everything reminded her of a song. She loved singing wherever she went and the fact that Jungwon was using music to express his feelings at the moment made her melt internally.
“It’s a beautiful playlist.” Sona whispered as she rested her cheek back on his shoulder, naturally taking his hands into her small ones.
And for the rest of the bus ride, the smile on Sona’s lips didn’t falter for a second.
-------
“Can’t you at least give me a hint on where we’re going?” Sona asked for the hundredth time, making Jungwon chuckle at her impatience.
“You’ve said that every minute. Just be patient.”
“But I’m so curious!” Sona exclaimed.
Jungwon patted her head. “I know, love. But we’re almost there.”
Sona just nodded and continued walking next to Jungwon, swinging their intertwined hands. The statement, ‘can you please give me a hint’ was itching on her tongue but she held it in, knowing Jungwon wouldn’t answer her. She pouted her lips, wondering where he could be taking her. She looked around, having a vague memory of being here, but not really being sure if she’s just seen this in her dreams.
Sona gasped as she saw where they were. It was the place that they had, not their first date, but their second date. Of course, everyone remembers their first date the most; It’s the first. However with Sona and Jungwon, their second date was something that they could never forget about.
This is the place where Jungwon had officially asked Sona to be his girlfriend. The wallpaper of Sona’s lock screen was still one of the many pictures they had taken that day. It was a silhouette picture of them in the park, Jungwon holding the girl up with Sona’s leg bent upwards.
“Wonie…” Sona trailed off, looking around while all the memories of their second date were flooding back to her.
“Come on.” Jungwon softly said, leading her deeper into the park with trees on either side of their pathways. The leaves that have turned from the summer green to the warm tones of autumn were surrounding them and Sona couldn’t help but stare up in awe of how beautiful they were.
“Tada~” Jungwon spread out his arms to reveal a small picnic blanket with different snacks that they both liked on the grass.
Sona gasped and let out a small squeal. “How did you set this up?”
“I may or may not have asked Jay hyung to set this up for me…” Jungwon confessed, rubbing his neck. “With the help of Sunghoon hyung and Heeseung hyung.”
“Of course Jay oppa would do this for you.” Sona giggled, making Jungwon pout.
“Hey! I helped him with setting up a surprise with his girlfriend so it was only fair for him to say yes.” He explained.
“Ok ok.” She chuckled as Jungwon led her to the blanket, both sitting down on the soft blanket. He pulled out the different snacks in the basket as Sona clapped her hands in delight.
Sona wasn’t a huge food person. She was never someone to love food like others. But seeing all of her favorite snacks and drinks laid out in front of her made her excited.
She picked up one of the chocolate covered strawberries, taking a bite as she looked around at the scenery a bit more closely this time since she was sitting down.
“Ah…I remember when we came here last year.” Jungwon suddenly spoke up. “It was fall that time too.”
“But instead, last time we couldn’t see all the pretty leaves since it was night time.” Sona pointed out.
Let’s just say, their second date was more of a last minute date. They had meant to go on their second date later however with Jungwon feeling the need to see her that night and Sona’s overwhelming feeling of happiness of just being with him had brought them together that night. Jungwon had spontaneously showed up to her house, calling her to come down. They had randomly ended up at this park after getting on a random bus and getting off at a random station. They didn’t care where they ended up, they simply just enjoyed each other’s company.
Even though they were just in their comfortable clothes consisting of sweatpants, hoodies and sneakers, it was still a magical night for them. And Sona wouldn’t change any details of her lockscreen wallpaper.
“But the stars were really pretty that night though.” Jungwon remarked, making Sona hum in agreement.
…
“Look Jungwon! You can see the stars so clearly from here!” Sona exclaimed, throwing her head back to see the beautiful, clear night sky.
The little white dots that lit up the dark navy sky was a gorgeous view from where Sona and Jungwon were standing. The trees that stood tall around and almost framed the stars, making them stare in awe.
“Isn’t the sky so pretty tonight?” Sona asked, still not taking her eyes off the sky. “And the stars. They’re so sparkly… Like… Cinderella’s ball gown”
Jungwon chuckled at the girl’s unusual comparison. He tore his eyes away from the sky and unto the girl in front of him. He took out his phone and secretly snapped a picture. “Yeah… really pretty.”
Sona unconsciously started taking random steps, her sole focus on the stars. And that was until she felt her foot step on someone else’s and her body collide with another’s. She quickly looked down from the sky and her breath hitched when she realized she ran right into Jungwon. Her eyes widened to see Jungwon so close to her face for the first time.
And of course, Sona being Sona, in her nervousness, started to ramble and looked down to avoid the boy’s eyes “You know my favorite Disney princess used to be Cinderella? Because that ballroom scene was so pretty and I always dreamed of it as a little kid. The way you have your hand on my waist kind of reminds me of that scene with her blue dress. Oh wait, I heard a lot of people saying it was silver instead of blue but like the live action definitely made it bl-”
Her words got cut off when she heard soft music playing into the dark night. She looked back up to see Jungwon smiling. He held out his arm which Sona hesitantly took into her own hands and he wrapped his hand around her waist.
“We can make that dream come true now.” He whispered as he guided her body to move with the flow of the song he played. He occasionally hummed to the melody of the song which made Sona just melt internally.
Sona was thankful that it was night time or Jungwon would’ve seen her red cheeks. In contrast to the chilly autumn night, her cheeks were burning to the point where anyone else could’ve mistaken her for having a fever.
She was so content with the moment she was in, with Jungwon, she hoped it would never end. As the small set of songs that Jungwon chose came to an end, so did their impromptu dance under the gorgeous night sky.
“You are so fucking adorable.” Jungwon whispered as he lightly picked her up and squeezed her, making her giggle.
…
“That dancing thing was so random though.” Sona said, chuckling at the memory.
“Hey but at least I thought of it. Or else you wouldn’t have gotten that pic.” Jungwon argued, pointing at her phone. He doubled tapped her screen to see the pic again, making Sona smile.
“I still can’t believe you got that entire moment on video. You had time to play a song and set your phone on the bench before getting my attention.” Sona recalled.
Jungwon shrugged. “I just really wanted to capture that moment. You really did look cute that night.”
Sona blushed again, feeling the blood rushing towards her cheeks again. “My cheeks are gonna burn off one day because of you.”
“See.” Jungwon exclaimed, giggling. “You are so fucking adorable.”
…
Sona blushed hearing those words come out of his mouth. She buried her face into his neck as she was still up in the air in his arms. She was internally screaming at his sentence, suddenly feeling shy in his presence.
Jungwon laughed at her reaction, feeling the warmth of her face on his neck. He gently placed her down, making her lift her head up from the crook of his neck. She saw how close to Jungwon she was, but this time she didn’t look away or ramble.
Her breath slightly hitched when Jungwon leaned in a bit closer, making sure she was comfortable enough with what he was about to do.
He smiled slightly when Sona leaned in a bit closer, just enough for their lips to brush up against each other but not quite touch. He took the last step and leaned in fully, capturing her lips into his.
Everything about the kiss was perfect: to the way their hearts skipped a beat, the way their lips moved in sync, and the way the beautiful stars were the only witnesses to their first kiss.
Jungwon was the first one to pull back, slightly breathless with tinted cheeks, just like Sona.
“Will you be my girlfriend?”
…
“And then you asked me to be your girlfriend.” Sona said, dreamily. She couldn’t have expected a better way to be confessed to.
“Best decision of my life.” Jungwon grinned as he stood up.
Sona looked up at him confused, only to see Jungwon quietly offering his hand. She placed her hand into his and let out a soft squeak when he pulled her up to her feet.
The force of his pull resulted in her colliding into his chest. His arms naturally wrapped around her waist as she steadied herself by placing her hands on his chest. She giggled as he gave a small peck on her forehead. And then one on her nose. And lastly a small kiss on her lips.
“Happy one year.” Jungwon softly murmured as his lips left Sona’s.
She giggled before responding to him. “Happy one year.”
He opened his mouth again to say something but closed it back again, making Sona tilt her head.
“You know we’ve been dating for a year… Been together with all four seasons…” Jungwon started off.
Sona looked at him slightly weird. “Of course. That’s why we just said, happy one year, to each other.”
“And in those four seasons, I was thinking about something.” Jungwon continued, feeling the hands around his girlfriend’s starting to get a bit clammy.
“About…?”
“I think…uhm…I kinda.” Jungwon trailed off, feeling a bit embarrassed that he was having such a hard time saying what he wanted.
Come on, it's only three words.
“You kinda…?” Sona tilted her head to the other side, suddenly feeling a bit nervous with her boyfriend’s weird behavior.
“I think I kinda… you know.”
Sona furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. “Wonie, I can’t read your mind.”
“I think…I mean I guess I want to say that…I don’t not love you…?”
Sona’s eyes widened slightly, shocked at what he just said.
Jungwon loves me…?
Jungwon’s eyes widened as well, cringing on the inside.
Did I just really say it like that?
Many thoughts were running through his mind when Sona wasn’t saying anything. He was starting to feel disappointed in himself. He had rehearsed this scenario in his mind a thousand times. He even practiced with his friends just to calm his nerves. He wasn’t someone to ask for favors but this time was an exception. Anything for the girl he loved.
“I mean, if you don’t feel the same, I obviously understand. I definitely won’t pressure you into saying anything that you don’t want t-”
His rambling was cut off by Sona’ s lips on his. He was first shocked but quickly kissed her back.
“I guess they were right when they say that two people start to become like each other when they love each other.” She giggled.
Jungwon's eyes became slightly bigger at her statement. “Does that mean….”
“Yep.” Sona answered him.
“Yang Jungwon. I guess I’m saying I don’t not love you too.”

Heewon numbly stood as she could vaguely see many people run back and forth around her and hear the shouts of urgency. The sirens of different cop cars and ambulances rang in her ear. The blue and red lights almost blinded her as she simply stared at the limp body being moved from the ground to the stretcher.
It almost felt real when she saw his limp hand and bloodied face but she still held onto hope. Or at least tried. But while watching the medics do CPR and try to do everything to save her boyfriend, she realized that it was hopeless. Heewon finally released the tears from her eyes that initially felt stuck from the shock.
One turned to two. Two turned to three. And eventually she had multiple tears coming down from each eye, looking like a downpour instead of a light drizzle.
Her sobs became more prominent when she was in the emergency room and she stared at the body of her lover. The dreaded sound of the long beep and the doctors saying the time of death all sounded muffled in her ears. Her legs gave out as she collapsed near the bed and held his hand for the last time. She could hazily see her tears drip onto his limp hand and the traces of dried blood on his hand made her want to gag.
She pushed herself up to see his face one last time. She was hoping that when she stood up to his face, his eyes would be opened. He would smile and tell her everything was okay. He would sit up afterwards and give her a big hug. But when she stood up, his eyes, that she could see the whole galaxy with, were closed. The lips that would once tell her that he loved her and smile for her would be forever shut. She could no longer hear the beautiful voice of her boyfriend. The voice that would calm her down while she was anxious or when she was sad. And she would no longer be able to feel the warmth he transmitted through his hugs. The comfort of his arms felt like home to Heewon. But her home now had crumbled in the matter of hours.
She brought her hand closer to his now cold cheek, caressing it. She attempted to wipe off the streaks of blood across his face. She could feel her eyes well up with tears once again, seeing his face and she wondered if the wells of her tears would ever dry up.
A chorus of voices filled her ears and she could feel her heart drop as she recognized the voices. She wasn’t ready to face them. It was all her fault. She knew it. And they knew it. Or she thought.
“Heewon?” Even though the voice was gentle, Heewon whipped her head around in fear, facing the six heartbroken boys.
“What happened?” Jungwon took a step forward to comfort his twin, but his heart completely shattered for her when she took one step back, panic and fear flooding her eyes.
“I-I’m sorry.” She choked. “I-it wa-was al-ll my f-f-fault.”
“Heewon-ah.” This time Heeseung took a step forward, standing next to Jungwon with his arms extended out.
“N-no! St-sto-stop!” Heewon managed to get out, a wave of sobs shaking her body uncontrollably. “I kn-know it w-was all m-m-my faul-lt.”
All the six boys looked at the girl in pity. They fully knew Heewon would never do anything to put their best friend in danger. She loved him too much for that. And they fully knew that if something happened that put Heewon in danger, he would most definitely run in to save her. Jay just loved her that much. It pained them physically and emotionally to see their friend, who they saw as a sister, was blaming herself for the death of their best friend when it obviously wasn’t her fault.
“Heewon-ah…it wasn’t your fault.” Jake gently told her.
“B-but it was! If I wa-wasn’t s-s-so stupid a-and saw th-th-the t-truck co-coming, h-he wouldn’t ha-have…” Heewon paused, dreading the next word to come up. She wanted to throw up at the word that was sitting on the tip of her tongue. “…died.”
The last word came out like a mere whisper, even Heewon herself could barely hear it. But she did. Another wave of realization came crashing down on her.
“He's dead…” She whispered out. “He’s gone.” She looked up and met the eyes of her twin. “Won-ah…I’ll never see him again.”
She could feel her legs giving out the second time as reality hit her once more. She felt warmth wrap around her and could smell the faint perfume of Jungwon as he caught her and brought her into a hug.
Jungwon could only nod and pat his twin’s head in comfort, while having tears streaming down from his own eyes. He too was grieving for the loss of his friend but seeing how broken his twin was, he couldn’t help but move his feelings aside for now to make sure she was okay.
“What do I do, Won-ah?” She cried out, gripping the sides of his sweater and drenching his shoulder in tears. “What am I going to do now?”
The remainder of the boys winced at the girl’s pain-stricken cries. Yes, Jay was such an important friend to them. He was the one who always made sure that all of them were dressed warmly enough. He always made sure they didn’t skip out on any of their meals. He made sure that each one of them were heard and listened to all of their problems, validating all of their positive and negative feelings. He showed them so much love and comfort that they would never forget.
But they knew what Heewon and Jay had were different. They were like soulmates. They complimented each in ways that even words couldn’t describe their chemistry. They supported each other through thick and thin and the friend group was sure they would get married someday. It was always a running joke that their friend group dreamed more about a wedding than Heewon and Jay did themselves.
Now those dreams could never become reality. Because the cruel world said that dreams were always meant to stay as dreams.
-------
Heewon found herself trudging down the hallway where her apartment was. Jungwon and the other guys had insisted on staying with her but she reassured them that she would be fine.
The boys knew she wouldn’t be fine. Being in the apartment that she once shared with Jay was going to rip what was left of her heart into shreds but seeing how sternly she shut their idea down, they backed off.
She took out the familiar keys that she and Jay used to get into their apartment. For their second anniversary, Jay had gotten them matching keychains when they first got their place together. It was just a simple keychain with little stars, symbolizing both of their love stars but also for the occasions where Heewon loved to call Jay her “star” based on the meaning of his Korean name. His name meant collecting stars and sometimes when she would hug him tight, she would jokingly say that she was “collecting her stars”, making Jay smile widely as his girlfriend’s adorable antics.
All of their keys and the keychain was connected by a light blue chain, dangling from their neck like a lanyard. Jay knew Heewon lost everything and anything in her possession, resulting in the genius gift. At least four times a day, he could hear a soft voice echoing in the apartment saying,“where’s my phone? or “where’s my wallet?” And every time it would make Jay chuckle at her clumsiness.
She lightly smiled at the sight of the keys dangling in her hands as she opened the door, only to be greeted by a dark apartment. It was rare she ever walked into a completely empty and dark apartment.
She was usually at the restaurant she worked at part time. She had a shift almost every night of the week and every time she got home, Jay was at the apartment, either alone or with the guys over. He always had something prepared for her to eat, knowing she barely ate during her shift. He would always greet her with a hug and a kiss when she announced her arrival with, “Jjonggg I’m home!”
“Where’s the oppa huh, you baby?” He would always ask with a teasing voice.
“I always call you oppa, just not with that nickname. You know that.” She teased right back.
But tonight was different. Stepping into the pitch black apartment, she flicked on the lights that were right above the kitchen island, a soft warm light emitting through the kitchen.
“J-Jjong….?” Her voice trembled across the apartment, desperate to just feel the warmth of Jay’s hugs. She already missed the feeling of being at home when she was in his arms. “Oppa, I’m home.”
She went into their shared bedroom, silently praying that he would be waiting in the bed and he would smile when he saw her, patting the spot next to him. She felt her heart begging the heavens, even though she knew it wouldn’t come true.
“Oppa I’m home…” She trailed off, feeling her eyes welling up again. She crawled into her bed and wrapped herself in the comfy sheets but nothing could compare being in Jay’s embrace. “Oppa I said I’m home…where are you…”
She sobbed into the blanket. She heard her phone ring which she numbly picked up and answered in a dull voice.
“Hello?”
“Did you get in your apartment safely?” She could hear the worry in Jungwon’s voice.
“Yeah…” She answered him.
Jungwon sighed on the other line, knowing it was going to take his twin a long time to come to terms with Jay’s sudden passing.
“The guys and I are coming over and before you say anything, we're coming and that’s final.”
And before Heewon could say anything, she heard Jungwon hang up. She sighed and layed back down on the bed, staring emptily at the ceiling.
-------
Heewon’s eyes fluttered open to see her head on Jungwon’s lap while he was sleeping, sitting down and his back against the headboard. She felt a tiny tug on her hand when she tried to sit up fully. She looked down to see Riki’s hand over hers as he was lying on the bed too, still in dreamland. All of the other guys were sprawled all over the floor with their own respective mattresses and blankets. Heewon’s memory came flooding back where Jungwon and Riki had comforted her by going on the bed, patting her hand and head back to sleep.
She was grateful to have them near her, to comfort her. She knew that they would be mourning for the loss of their best friend too but she was thankful that they were there to look out for her loss as well.
She gently separated her hand from Riki’s and left the bed. She knew the boys wouldn’t wake up that easily, especially with the night they had previously.
When she walked out of the room, she noticed that it still felt dark since the curtains weren’t opened. She didn’t bother opening them and turned the lights on as she went straight towards the coffee she always drank. Since the boys were sleeping, she opted for instant coffee made with hot water instead of the normal coffee machine.
When the coffee was done, she added a little extra sugar to make her coffee sweeter since she wasn’t a big fan of the super bitter taste.
“What did I tell you about drinking coffee first thing in the morning?”
Heewon almost dropped her cup, surprised at the familiar voice. She slowly turned around; her eyes and mouth both opening wide at who was in front of her.
It was Jay.
He was wearing the white sweater and pants he wore that night, however, it was no longer covered in blood but clean like she first saw him. He had small beams of light emitting from him with a soft smile on his face. That smile that Heewon always loved.
“H-how….” Heewon could feel herself getting choked up as she raised her hand over her mouth. She slowly stepped closer and closer to Jay.
She savored the feeling of her being in Jay’s arms once again. Her petite figure fit perfectly in his toned arms. She felt safe and secure in his embrace.
“How are you here….?” Heewon managed to let out, still in the state of shock.
“Just saying last goodbyes, baby.” He said before giving her a small peck on her forehead.
Heewon looked guilty when she looked into Jay’s eyes. “I’m sorry, oppa….”
“What are you sorry for? I made the decision to save you. It was all on me.” Jay reassured her by bringing his hands to her cheeks and lightly caressing them. “There’s no one to blame in this situation other than that drunk driver who was breaking the law. I really don’t want you blaming yourself for this, loves.”
Heewon sniffled, feeling another round of tears coming. “I’ll miss you a lot…”
“I’ll miss you too, baby.” Jay responded back.
“What am I going to do without you?” She cried, burying her face into his chest.
“You’re going to do great no matter what, loves.” Jay told her while pulling her face out of his chest. “You’re going to do so amazing and in heaven, you’ll tell me all about it.”
“In heaven?”
Jay nodded, giving her another big smile. “I look forward to seeing you again, loves. I love you.”
Before she could respond, he pulled her into a sweet kiss.
It would be their last kiss on earth.
Heewon wrapped her arms around his neck, trying to get him as close to her as she could. She instinctively closed her eyes, trying to savor every moment.
But when she opened her eyes back, she could no longer see the love of her life in front of her.
Maybe this life wasn’t the time for them. She prayed and prayed that in the next life she would meet him all over again. Go through the ups and downs with him all over again. And fall in love with him all over again.
She placed her hands over her heart and with tears streaming down her face, she gave a response to him.
