And it just really works for the story. You pay more attention to the characters and the dialogue in the grayscale. It also makes the space feel more dynamic. It’s all filmed at the Caterpillar property and not once does it feel like the location is constricted and I think that is party due to the b&w tbh. It’s like if you saw it all in colour, you would feel like you memorised the entire space within 10 minutes of the film but the black and white makes you feel like you’re moving into new locations with every sequence change. It’s also Sam’s directing but seriously, Marcell is some genius. Idk how he’s doing it but yeah, when you watch it, you won’t wish it was in colour.

There’s something to be said about being good at every part of the job. From bringing her A-game in front of the camera, to her business skills, to picking the right people to work with, to opening new doors, to using her platform, to speaking with kindness and intelligence, to owning every look ever. To doing every part of the ‘actress’ job with the right and equal energy because the people involved in all of those fields deserve it. So when these designers speak with heart about her (and Law as a team), you know it’s because they genuinely feel championed (and not just because Z does look unnaturally good in everything); “The silver fringe dress from “Of Grace and Light” HC collection, was originally presented by an acrobat, floating on air. It is a 5 meter length dress, an impossible dream dress. What Zendaya does to it, it’s exactly what I hope for Couture. She makes the dress, and the dream, real; she takes it away from the Charles James salon behind couture to bring it to now, introducing the human values that stand behind couture to this new, beautiful, and powerful generation.
