please read this even if you're not indian. especially if you're not indian.
you've seen the jokes. india is "dirty", indians are "everywhere", why don't they fix their own country. ok. let me tell you why, and what's happening right now while nobody's watching.
first, the history you skipped: britain ruled india for two centuries and drained it. economist utsa patnaik's research estimates around $45 trillion in today's money was taken. the india that got independence in 1947 was one of the poorest countries on earth. every "why is india like this" question starts there. you don't get to profit off a robbery and then mock the crime scene.
now, what's happening RIGHT NOW:
in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.
and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.
and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.
it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:
• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.
• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.
• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.
• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.
• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.
• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.
and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.
what i'm asking:
if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.
if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.
india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.
being plural is so odd because sometimes neither of us are singularly present, and sometimes we get the privilege of fondly discussing what we’re going to put into our dinner.
sometimes when half of us wants to give up and break down, to quit and lie still; the other half will urge us on with gentle words, push us further, take control of our limbs and keep powering through.
and sometimes we are too tired, our body so heavy, and the weaker of us shies away from any notions of *getting up* of being a person, and gentle words turn scathing, bitter. The power to seize our limbs becoming a fight for control as we are launched from the bed, forced to get up and do things by our own legs.
and among those things, being nonhuman is so odd. Because sometimes we are a person, stringing together actions and words and interests in a way that makes sense to others, and then sometimes our thoughts devolve into senseless emotion and meaning. A genuine love and appreciation of life from a creature centuries old told through flashes of things so simple and so precious.
and sometimes the beautiful elegance of our cryptidkin shifts into something less erethreal. We become playful and wild and feral. The urge to bite and wrestle and chase. It’s fun, and it’s agonizing, stuck in a body that lacks paws and claws and sharp fangs. I am not a wolf, but sometimes I can close my eyes and convince myself I still am.
Something I wish I'd realized sooner. Something I wish others realized.
someone in the comments of one of my posts said it clearly. labeled my feelings in a way I hadn't been able to formulate until now.
My goal is unity.
I want people and creatures and humans all over the world to work towards being happy and healthy together. Its okay to be separate, to recognize that everyone has different experiences, and that we don't have to lump everyone in together (in fact I think that would be harmful) but there is no reason to exclude, belittle, or devalue someone's experiences just because they're different than yours, or because you don't understand how their existence is possible.
it happens all the time, everywhere, and I'm guilty of it too. we want to make sense of the world around us. its natural for you to shrug off or push aside someone else if what they're saying doesn't make sense to you. and often times it doesn't matter how much proof they show, or how many times they explain their view. it has to make sense to you.
not only does the reality of it have to fit well in your head, but you also have to be willing to accept the possibility of it. will accepting these people make you look bad? will people who don't like you hate you even more? will it be harder to explain yourself because now you're associated with others that are even harder to understand?
We have to move past those feelings. the feelings of disgust, confusion, anger, and fear.
"that person is weird, they're not like me." "I don't understand how that person could be anything like me." "how dare someone different than me claim to be like me?" "what if they are like me, what does that make me?"
no one group is more or less likely to do this. everyone has these thoughts, these feelings. and honestly, every time I see it happen, unity is always the answer. the outcome. it makes things better, happier, and more accepting.
Learning unity in the trans community
when my focus was on my gender identity, I ran rampant through the trans community online. i joined groups, followed many creators, learned as much as I could, obsessed over labels, and generally had fun. I'm nonbinary, and don't always refer to myself as trans, but I do take pride in it when I do.
when I started hearing and learning about neopronouns and xenogenders, I was so confused. to me, gender was a binary. fem or masc. you were one or the other, somewhere in-between, both, or neither.
when I heard that people related their gender to things like animals, plants, objects, concepts, or even music, I just did not get it.
I said they weren't valid, I called them weird, called them wrong.
then one day it clicked. I finally understood, and it didn't seem so odd anymore. now I love using my it/its pronouns and get gender envy from sports cars. can you believe it? all it took was an open mind and for me to reword it in my mind in a way that made sense to me.
Learning unity in the otherkin community
I've been an awakened therian and otherkin for over three years now. when I discovered the community and my identity, I was quick to put labels on myself. I'm spiritually a wolf therian and psychologically a Cryptidkin. to me that was it, that was all I could be and all I was.
obviously I knew about and accepted all sorts of otherkin folks. different species and organisms, polykins, even conceptkins. but therianthropy had a set definition in my head, and anyone that didn't fit that box was wrong, or just wasn't a therian.
when I first heard about physical therians/otherkin, I was absolutely not for it. there was already a label for people who thought they were actually physically nonhuman, and that was delusional. (I'm sorry if that's insulting to any zooanthropes, that was just how I thought then.)
just like xenogenders, It took a lot of research and a lot of people explaining it in different ways for it to finally just click for me.
suddenly instead of, "yeah that's not possible" it was "oh shoot that's me."
Learning unity in the Plural community
oof, so this is kind of a controversial topic on tumblr right now, but I'm not going to shy away from this topic just because others don't like hearing about it. (because that would prove my point.)
so my introduction to plurality as a concept started on TikTok (I know, I know...) and I didn't even know about the term plural. the only thing I knew about at the time was DID and later OSDD because the fandom I had been in at the time was FULL of fictives, and our fandom kind of treated them like roleplay accounts.
I thought they were cool. I knew it was a disorder, but I still just treated them like any other people. because well, they are! they're just people. multiple parts working together to form a system that may or may not have to deal with disassociation and amnesia.
and that was all I knew about plurality.
...until things started happening. my brain started talking back. now I'm a maladaptive daydreamer, so I was used to imaging myself in different scenarios, with different people, but I also knew how to separate my daydreams from reality.
I also spoke out loud like a streamer. Referred to the empty air as chat or “guys” so that I could organize my thoughts and pretended they were asking me questions so I could talk about things I wanted to talk about.
but this was different. My mind was actively thinking thoughts that I hadn’t come up with myself. Telling me things I hadn’t thought of or considered. Talking to me like a person.
these instances were brief, barely there. I chalked it up to “sometimes my brain talks to my heart and calls it stupid” or “haha left brain had to make a decision for right brain”
but then I found a Plurality community. I joined as a questioning “singlet” and realized just how many people were having similar experiences, and not just because of a disorder. And that I wasn’t crazy, I was just actually we.
eventually the stray thought, comment, and advice turned into a full train of thought, full conversations, and actively making decisions for the body. So I was plural. We were two. We still are.
that’s when I had to learn unity. I knew from the information in the plural server I was in that some people didn’t think it was possible, but I never expected it to be this bad. I had barely grazed the anti-endo and CDD-exclusive side of the community before moving to tumblr.
and now I’m on the opposite side. Now I’m the neopronoun user getting told I’m ruining trans peoples reputation. Now I’m the physical otherkin getting told I’m delusional.
now we’re a non disordered collective getting told we can’t exist.
so I understand. That doesn’t stop me from feeling defensive, or from getting angry or petty, but I get it. They don’t understand. They get told they’re crazy or pretending. so when people show up, happy with a trait they have, that they only got through trauma and disassociation and amnesia? How dare they? How dare we?
it makes sense for them to deny it. To call us stupid or crazy or ignorant or delusional or any number of things. They don’t understand us in the same way that we’ll never understand being disordered.
all I’m hoping is that someday we will accept each other and work together to be accepted and live with our crazy brains. Because even though we have different experiences, we can still coexist. We can help each other. We can love and care for each other.
to all my disordered cousins, my xenogendered siblings, and all the physical ‘kins that came before me and will come after: I love you.

I hope everyone from all sides will give this important, heartfelt post a read.
It's likely something you'll want to be aware of if you have a vested interest in syscourse and the validity of endogenic systems. Please give this a chance.
It's been almost three years since I started my blogs. Wow. I've been on tumblr a hell of a lot longer, but I really wasn't involved in the system community. I started out firm and loud. I probably inadvertently fakeclaimed (I went into this with the rule that I would NOT directly tell anyone they were faking, it was a boundary that I knew would ruin me socially if I crossed it, but I'm sure I probably did without meaning to), I name called and made fun of people and things. I was disrespectful to people. I invaded tags to get my message out there, though I was quick to stop once I realized I was making the tags unusable for the community I claimed to want to protect.
I learned very quickly what was appropriate and what wasn't, what I could get away with and what I couldn't. It started to become a numbers game, influenced by the risk of the post.
I made a lot of friends and a lot of enemies, and I amassed a following of over 2k. More people have come and gone from my little community than I ever thought possible. People made fanart of me, and I cherish those so deeply. I have over 300 asks because I struggle to delete the ones thanking me.
And the more I was thanked, the nicer I got, the more thanks, the nicer I got, rinse and repeat until I had trouble NOT empathizing with pro/endos. The more I was willing to listen, the more legitimate sources I came across that disproved my original ideas about consciousness. The people sharing the sources were more respectful than I thought they'd be. Things were starting to look a bit cloudy.
I talked to my colleagues about how they, as therapists, would handle some of these endos in their practice, and while their belief in the concept varied, kindness and attempts to understand was the consistent answer. When had I lost that kindness and understanding that had driven me to that field to begin with?
Colleagues, yes. For those who don't know, I have a degree in social services and counselling (plus three other degrees). It's why the current situation with the antis turning on me is so funny. I still can't get into the mindset of some of these new anti endos, I just can't imagine justifying that level of cruelty. I had lines that I wouldn't cross, and I didn't think people could be worse than me.
... That might have been a trauma thing, looking back on it.
So I got desperate.
I spoke to the actual doctors who wrote some of these papers all of us are quoting. Everyone was arguing the meaning of the words, so I went directly to the source.
Dr Colin Ross, who wrote about endogenous multiplicity in the 80s. I told him everything-- about plurals, non-traumagenic systems, syscourse, what was being debated, how I and others interpreted his words, and what I wanted to learn.
Was plurality only trauma based?
And back and forth and back and forth we went, with me asking over and over again in different ways, NEEDING to hear that it was.
But I never got that answer. He meant what he meant. He said what he said and he meant it.
That plurality was not only found in the aftermath of trauma.
And I said nothing to anyone because I couldn't reconcile it.
Don't try to read between the lines, I assure you, there isn't some hidden meaning to be found there. I can't share all of the messages because some contained personal information, but my final response will tell you all you need to know.
(It did NOT, in fact, make sense, and it took me three years to "rethink my paper" that endogenic plurality wasn't possible, I did not win that conversation, it was a dying stance that was not supported)
I've been accused of paying too much attention to my follower count, but I can't really help it. It's really scary when you make a post and see a sizeable drop. It means a lot of different things. My posts have less reach and support. I've upset people. I've done something wrong. My community is leaving me.
I'm in a weird spot, where I'm blocked by so much of the pro/endo community that I have nothing to join, and the anti endo community, who I still wholeheartedly support, continues to leave me for -checks smudged writing on hand- being too nice??
Misinformation about DID is a massive problem, and it's why I still consider myself anti endo and support that community. I relate to them in such a way that I'll always gravitate to and empathize with them.
Or at least, that's what I thought.
At this point, though, how can I not be pro/endo when Colin fucking Ross says it's possible?
I've already written about how I'm really struggling with these labels, and I love the people that have stuck around while I struggle to figure this out.
I hurt when I see the people that once supported me leave.
My (online) world is shrinking. Literally.
That's scary.
When you've watched so many turn away, you start to wonder, with every post, where is the line where the rest are going to leave? Is it this post?
I just want to be me, us, we want to laugh at the stupid crap people say, system or not, I want to talk about my disorder, I want to combat misinformation, I want to have productive, fun conversations about ideas and concepts with people who disagree and have different interpretations. I want to play devil's advocate and get people thinking. I want to be able to comment positivity and kindness on any post I see, I want to feel comfortable talking to more people about their ideas. I sympathize with anti endos, I relate to CDD systems, I still firmly believe that CDDs and plurality are different, unrelated concepts.
My priority will always and forever be the CDD community first and foremost.
However, I am a hypocrite. I have gone straight to the horse's mouth and failed. I've seen so much research that I finally get it. I'm grappling with holding on to this conversation with Dr Ross, wondering what harm I could have prevented if I'd gone public with these emails earlier.
Since when has being open to change been a bad thing?
Since when has showing respect to lived experiences been a bad thing?
We literally couldn't care less what you identify as. But DO NOT try to tell us our trauma is invalid, or use slurs or insults to try and make us see your point. It doesn't work and it only makes us hate you.
We take issue with both the endogenic and traumagenic sides of the community, but we are and will always be traumagenic.
While we do use terms coined by endogenics WE STILL ARE TRAUMAGENIC. Nothing will change that. If you want to interact on our posts as an endo then cool, we can't stop you. But do not clog it with syscourse and bullshit. We're not interested.
We do not want to partake in syscourse and we do not want to be dragged into syscourse by anyone.
THIS! we owe our discovery to endos and pro-endo spaces, but NOTHING warrants harassment of traumagenic or disordered systems.
Like- you guys didn't form out of trauma? Cool- but we did and want to talk about it sometimes. As long as someone isn't being vehemently anti endo or spreading misinformation, you don't need to bring up being endo absolutely everywhere.
I actually do think it’s better for abusers and abusive characters to realize the harm their past actions caused and seek to do better than be literally or metaphorically executed for their crimes
I think it’s better for abusers and abusive characters to realize the harm their past actions caused and seek to do better than be literally or metaphorically executed for their crimes.

We describe depression as a mood disorder, a chemical imbalance, a constellation of symptoms to be managed and endured. These definitions capture mechanics but miss the essential horror: depression doesn't simply cause suffering. It actively resists its own cure.
Anyone who has been trapped inside it recognizes the pattern. You think about calling the doctor and immediately a voice emerges: "It won't help." You consider therapy and it responds with surgical precision: "You've already tried that." Someone suggests medication and it deploys your own memories against you: "Remember how bad the side effects were? Remember how nothing worked?"
These aren't random intrusions or neutral byproducts of dysfunction. They are arguments. They follow logic. They anticipate objections. They have a singular goal, to keep you from seeking treatment. They emerge precisely when you move toward help, armed with your own history, speaking in your own voice but serving interests opposed to your survival.
This reveals depression as something far more sinister than a passive mood disorder. It operates like a cognitive parasite: a system that has colonized your decision-making apparatus and repurposed it to ensure its own continuation. It generates thoughts that serve its survival rather than yours. It makes its self-protective arguments feel like your most authentic insights.
The Evolutionary Logic of Mental Parasites
A parasite doesn't require consciousness to develop sophisticated survival strategies. Malaria manipulates mosquito behavior to increase biting frequency. Rabies rewires mammalian aggression to maximize viral spread through saliva. Toxoplasma gondii alters rodent behavior to reduce fear of cats, ensuring the parasite reaches its preferred host. These parasites succeed not by brute force but by hijacking instinct, exactly the way depression hijacks thought.
Depression operates according to the same evolutionary logic. Over millions of years, the patterns we now call depression have been refined into a system that excels at persistence. The thoughts it generates, the beliefs it reinforces, the behaviors it promotes – all serve to maintain the depressive state and prevent its elimination. What feels like profound insight about your hopeless situation is actually the disease speaking through your cognitive machinery to protect itself from therapeutic intervention.
The Parasite's Defensive Arsenal
Shame as camouflage. Depression convinces you that the primary threat isn't the illness itself but the social consequences of acknowledging it. It generates certainty that seeking help will expose you as fundamentally broken in ways others will immediately recognize and judge. This shame doesn't originate from external social pressure. It's manufactured internally by the disease to disguise itself as reasonable social anxiety.
Hopelessness installed as deterrent. The disease installs absolute certainty that treatment is pointless, that you are beyond help, that your suffering is permanent and unchangeable. This isn't depression speaking truth about your situation. It's the illness generating the one belief system that guarantees its own survival. Hopelessness feels like clarity, like finally seeing your circumstances without illusion, but it's actually the most sophisticated lie the disease tells.
Rationalization deployed as decoy. Depression deploys your own intelligence against you, generating coherent arguments against action that feel like careful reasoning. The last medication failed, so why try another? Therapy is expensive. Maybe you'll get better on your own. These aren't insights discovered through reflection. They are symptoms masquerading as logic, using your cognitive abilities to construct barriers between you and treatment.
Identity captured as conquest. The most insidious strategy involves convincing you that the illness isn't something you have; it's something you are. Depression insists this suffering represents your authentic self finally revealed, that you're not sick but simply weak or broken in ways that treatment cannot address. Once you mistake the disease for your identity, you'll protect the disease as if protecting yourself.
Amnesia as erasure. Depression severs access to memory depending on your state. In an episode you cannot recall what wellness felt like. In remission you struggle to remember the logic and weight of hopelessness. This state-based amnesia isolates you in the present, making despair feel permanent and recovery feel impossible, ensuring the disease protects itself by erasing continuity between selves.
The Implications for Treatment and Policy
If depression generates its own thought-stream designed to prevent treatment, then self-report during depressive episodes becomes fundamentally compromised. The voice providing explanations for treatment avoidance isn't neutral; it's adversarial. When someone says they don't want help because "it won't work" or "I don't deserve it," they're not expressing authentic preferences. They're transmitting the disease's survival programming.
This reframes everything about treatment approach. Avoidance isn't choice, it's a symptom. Resistance isn't preference, it's the illness defending itself. The person refusing help isn't making a rational decision about their care; they're being spoken for by the disease that hijacked their decision-making.
And it completely reshapes policy priorities. Public awareness campaigns that target external stigma are fighting the wrong war. The real barrier isn't societal judgment, it's an internal adversary that generates shame, hopelessness, and resistance from within. External acceptance cannot override an illness that sabotages from the inside, using the host's own cognitive architecture against them.
The Language We Need
We need new language for this reality. Depression isn't passive weight that makes life harder. It's an active force that strategically opposes its own treatment. It's not a mood that comes and goes, it's a survival system that has evolved to persist.
Not a mood. Not just imbalance. A parasite of the mind, protecting its own existence at the expense of yours, speaking in your voice to convince you that seeking help is dangerous, pointless, or unnecessary. The voice telling you not to call the doctor isn't you being realistic about treatment options; it's the disease protecting itself from elimination.
Until we recognize depression as an adversarial system rather than a passive condition, we'll keep failing to treat it effectively. Antidepressants work when they reach the disease, but the disease excels at preventing people from taking them in the first place. Therapy succeeds when patients engage with it, but the illness specializes in generating reasons why therapy is pointless or harmful. The most effective treatments in the world cannot help people who never access them because a parasite in their head has convinced them that seeking help represents weakness or futile effort.
The real enemy operates undetected, using our own minds against us, ensuring its survival by disguising its self-defense as our self-preservation.
The cure exists. The parasite has just convinced you it's the poison.

This is going to sound so stupid but as someone from a subtropical area, I struggle to fathom the climate of Britain. I’ve been doing a lot of research on the climate of southern Wales. What do you mean the temperature is usually between 34°f and 66°f? The record low is only -9.9°f and the record high is 98°f? I’m from a place where it is usually between 30° f and 90°f, the record low is -34°f and the record high is 110°f. My brain cannot comprehend the idea of a place that isn’t freezing in the winter and sweltering in the summer. No life threatening temperature seesaw? No tornadoes? No hail?

actually so scared to tell one of my moots that I'm non disordered and pro endo. Its so kind to me, and im even making an art piece to give it rn. But I just noticed no endos in his boundaries post and it's genuinely eating me up, especially because a lot of systems think endos think they have DID? BUT I DONT! I just don't want to lose my friend because I'm plural and I don't know how to approach it.
