I love going into a project with absolutely zero clue what I'm doing. I'm currently 4.5 hours into making a rabbit mask that I didn't even know was going to be a rabbit mask when I started and that I had zero references for, I didn't even look at any pictures of actual rabbits and I had no mask base and the only other mask I've ever made before was a deer mask and that was almost a year ago at this point. Anyways, it's going pretty good, it's pretty rabbit shaped in my opinion and so far it's molded much better to my face than the deer mask and is also considerably lighter due to the fact that I didn't fill out any parts of it with clay and have just stuck to cardboard, hot glue, masking tape, and paper mache. The nose and ears still need some work, as well as one of the eyes which is just a little bigger than it should be, and when all of that's done I'm gonna have to decide if I want to use felt or some other fabric/fur for this particular mask. I already have felt as I found a huge bag of felt scraps out in the storage building, but I had a really hard time with felt last time and burned the fuck out of my hands so bad that It took me days to complete it and my hands had blisters all over them for weeks afterwards but like small price to pay and also I'm pretty confident I'd burn myself less this time around.

I was wondering why my painting looked wrong, it turns out forgot to give her ears. The sketch has been on my wall since February and since then my curtain rod fell and in attempting to fix that (I was unsuccessful and now I just use a scarf as a curtain to disguise the giant hole in my wall) I smudged the sketch to shit and I literally just couldn't even tell the sketch had ears and so now I have an earless princess Luna painted on my wall with a non earless Celestia. Idek how to fix this I might just have to keep her this way

Trying to decide if it would be fucked up to paint something maybe kinda gory on a canvas that already has a painting someone else did on it. I have full permission from the person who painted it to do so, as they didn't want said painting anymore and dislike it, but maybe it still feels a little disrespectful to cover up someone else's art with a depiction of my religious trauma in the form of a scene from the fic I'm writing.
