Mutt fidgets with his moonstone ring while waiting for you. He didn't think you'd ever actually agree to meet him outside of church. He wants to play it cool but he's a ball of nerves.

When you finally arrive at the corner you agreed to meet at, he looks like a deer in headlights. You're in a much more casual outfit but you still have a clerical collar.

You're the first to speak. "Hey, are you ready for dinner?" Luckily, you both already planned this out prior so there's no real worry as you both are fighting back shyness.

"Yea- Yes!" Mutt pulls himself together the best he can. You've never seen him so flustered before. He's like a scared little puppy.

You both walk in the direction of a local diner. It's usually not too crowded around this time and it should be comfortable to talk and get to know one another.

You both are seated in the backroom and have a nice view out the window into a field. The atmosphere is fairly calm and relaxing. Looking over the menu, you decide to get your go to order just to be on the safe side.

While waiting for your food, both of you are surprisingly quiet. But Mutt slowly works up the courage. "Do you normally go out with your parishioners?" He smiles a bit, trying to break some of the tension.

"No, just the cute ones." You reply easily. He nearly chokes on air at that comment.

As the night goes on, Mutt slowly relaxes but you can't help but find how flustered he is rather cute. You haven't seen him this flustered even when teasing him at church.

He pays for the meal, insisting it's only right.

The walk back to where you first met is slow and casual. "I'm sorry I wasn't more talkative. It's easier at church because it feels impossible...but when you're here in front of me, outside of the sanctuary..." His eyes linger on your lips.

"...it's different."
