“Enjoying your new modest living? Gotta say, I’m surprised. Impressed even.”
You can feel the priest’s breath on your earlobe as he says it, practically murmuring the last words. Dangerously close, but no contact except that simple gesture of his hand on your shoulder from behind.
“Maybe I’ve underestimated you… you know, when you first appeared here… and even after you became an altar boy, I gotta confess - I thought you’re only interested in getting closer to me.”
He holds your shoulder firmly enough to keep you in place while his other hand lightly slides up your spine.
“But I was wrong. And I am so sorry for my lack of faith!”
He gently tugs at your collar only so it sits on you perfectly, then finally releases your shoulder and walks away just as suddenly as he appeared behind you a few moments ago.
The tug at my collar leaves me breathless. Even just feeling the Reverend's breath in my ear is enough to have me dizzy. I turn to look back at him but he's already disappeared into his office. My palms are sweating and my heart is racing despite such little contact.
...he knew I was only interested in him?...I didn't hide it, but I tried...sort of.
I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself down so I can finish my chores for the day.
This is going to be harder on me than I had anticipated.
