Atelier Lalmitti Mentorship 2021
@blackout-2021
How can one discern the personal and political through ceramics? My sculptural pieces are an ongoing exploration of unpacking my shame & insecurities, where I focus on the unsolicited comments I have received about my body to this day- my 'bent' nose, skinny 'chicken' legs, 'perky' breasts and so on. I call myself a āfeminist in foundationā. I feel compelled to address my own standard of beauty by challenging the body politics surrounding it and understanding the importance of the personal and shared human experience. Through this journey, I aim to create conversation pieces to provoke a dialogue. I'm a visual designer and ceramic artist currently doing a one-year mentorship under Atelier LÄlmittiās founders & makers, Reyaz Badaruddin and Ćlodie Alexandre in Andretta Artists Village, Himachal Pradesh, India.
