Tonight I needed to relax. I missed another art exhibition date by a few hours, my boss got mad at me for having a social media idea....the day did not want to go my way.  So I felt it was time to use a tea that I had been holding onto for a night I truly needed calming.  I was very lucky to once vendor right next to Amy the owner of Rooted Scales, and she graciously offered me a tea sample. I was so excited to find to find this blend included the wonderful Reishi and Basil. I feel like I’m finding Reishi popping up everywhere!! 🍄  To further my experience I used my secret honeycomb...and some creamed honey to balance the bitterness of it’s foreign cousin.

Tea Delights Day 3:

After seeing one of the recent posts about the powers of Turkey Tail I had to try it for myself. When stopping over at The Good Earth today I was offered a lovely sampling of Four Sigmatic's Mushroom Chai Latte Mix, made with Reishi and Turkey Tail. I've already come to love reishi, with her amazing abilities to boost the immune system, but finding this small chance to try turkey tail for free was perfect. This sweet chai also was boosted with the tummy-soothing anti-inflammatory properties of ginger- as the chai mix contained ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, pepper & coconut-- absolutely delicious, I'll be adding this to my tonics to wind down in the evenings.

Tea Challenge Day 2:

What's brewin: Oolong Tea. This beauty does contain caffeine, but also vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and beneficial polyphenol antioxidants. Oolong can boost metabolism, increase our alterness, and aid digestion.

Hello to the internet ether.  I haven’t been posting my drawings because they are being commissioned for a DnD campaign that might be released as a podcast or on youtube.....more to come.  For my daytime life I work at Ezra’s Enlightened Cafe.  The owner/creator Gaia Chef Audrey has an online learning program for home herbalists to learn how to use plants to thrive, improve their lives, and take back some control over their health.  In this Medicine Woman Membership we are being challenged to make a tea every day based on medicinal effects we feel that we need.  Mixing intuition and medicine seems to happen all the time in massage therapy.  Just to continue the experiment I will post the images, along with my ‘tea journalings’ here. 

Tea Challenge, Day 1:

Welcome to February! For me January seemed to be a time of hard transitions for many people I care about. I felt drained today from the current politics and worries about what's happening all over the world..coronavirus, mass fires....sometimes it can be too much for me. So today I wanted to relax with something fruity and delicious, and take my mind off the world for a moment. I cracked open my latest Neil Gaiman purchase The Graveyard Book and sipped this beauty. I love fruits and sweet things so this tasted like a fruity dessert-in-a-cup to me.

Cup Contents: fresh cubed apple slices, dried pineapple chunks, dried mango pieces, fresh orange peel, dried hibiscus flower blossoms, coconut sugar, and my own raw mulberry honey

Greetings fellow travelers.

I have an exciting announcement.  About a month ago your favorite online honey finished their first mural! I was granted the opportunity to work in community and spread my message about honey bees.  This was the first year for Indy Mural Festival, with over fifty mural artists at 6 different locations.  Luckily pour moi I was planted at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, a nonprofit organization that plants trees, organizes group clean-ups of Indianapolis, fights invasive species and pollution, and beautifies the city.  Naturally they are huge honey bee fanatics, so the perfect of this placement was not lost on me.  

There were quite a few hiccups along the way.  The event was scheduled for three days...and the first, a Friday, I was in work all day.  The second was a torrential downpour so no one could paint.  The final Sunday I somehow managed to sweep in and lay this image there, with two more days necessitated for completion- the second for details and the third to spray enamel.  Enamel, you say. Why on Earth would a muralist need spray-fixative?? Aren’t your outdoor paints weather protected?? Why you ask? Well I could only afford a few cans of spray paint to scrawl these bees on the walls and the rest? ...Indoor paint.  That’s right. So let’s hope it doesn’t wash away, eh?

Regardless I took this opportunity to blend my two forms of artistic creativity- traditional art making and social practice community-based work.  This scene is site-responsive since the wall I received had some obstacles in it, like windows and a pressure gauge.  The honeys stare out into the audience pollinating the world with paints. I wanted this mural to reflect my values, but also the values of KIB.  My goal to work with their non-profit might be one buzz away...

How often do you lose yourself, spacing far away from a moment.  Just wishing your soul could take flight out of your current self into the life you were meant to lead.  Sometimes I wonder when my life will take flight.
