Welcome to the Black Whump Blues!
📌 What is this?
The Black Whump Blues is a multi-media prompt event meant to center Black characters in whump! As with other POC, we are tragically underrepresented in fandom and art spaces, so the main goals of this event are to encourage people to give more love to (1) Black whumpees and (2) the Black members of our community.
📌 When will it take place?
Sometime around late November (which coincides with Black Awareness Month in Brazil, where I'm from!) or December; the exact date will depend on my schedule and is still due to be set. The event is meant to last around two weeks.
📌 How can I join?
When the event starts, make creations centering Black whumpees according to each day's prompt. The directive is to respectfully represent their pain (or the comfort they recieve from it) while having fun. All forms of art (writing, drawing, poetry, gif-making, etc.), all Black characters (fandom and original) & all creators (Black and nonBlack) are welcome!
📌 Are the prompts already available?
Not yet! Speaking of, if you have a prompt (or more!) you'd like to see, you can drop a submission at the prompt suggestion form, which I'll leave open until September 1st. I will select a handful between these submissions and mix them up with my personal picks. We should have a full prompt list by the end of September.

I am very excited to host this event! The whump community means a lot to me, and despite our spaces being overwhelmingly filled with white (usually male, usually able-bodied, usually perisex...) whumpees, I see that slowly we are moving onto a different direction, thanks to the combined effort of many. People loudly advocate for the presence of women in our narratives, and for respectful, accurate portrayals of disabilities. This blog is meant to be another step in that proccess; by taking the time to focus on a demographic that often gets sidelined in the stories we choose to tell and read (in this case, Black people) I hope that we can meaningfully make our community more colorful (ha) and welcoming to all :)
