It's you.
From my patio I can see planes coming in for landing and also the ones taking off and leaving. I sat out there tonight with wine and I watched them land and take off, land and take off. So many of them are coming and going it seems like a constant stream of perfect timing. Just one after another in both directions. Coming and going. I was thinking about where they could all be going.. literally anywhere in the world. I thought about how many of them were taking off for where you are, or touching down from your city. I wondered how many of them were bringing lovers home to their loved ones. I wondered if one of those planes I saw tonight would be the one that would take me to you. The one that sends me to dream just beneath the stars, while everything I've ever known is down below. Sometimes I think about it being a rocket ship instead, taking me to another planet where I get to have you, where I get to have it all. I think about many things. All day long I think about many things. But when it's quiet, when I find myself in a pause, when my head hits the pillow at night and I stare at the back of my eyelids, it's you. I think of you. I think about you all the time. I think about your voice, your words. One word. I think about the moment that word rolls off your tongue and leaves your lips and makes its way to my eardrum. That one word that will change my life in a single moment. As much as I've thought about that moment, what I think about most is this one moment in particular. I can see it in my mind so vividly that I know it'll happen just this way. I don't know where we are. If I'm there or you're here or we're somewhere in between. But it's you and it's me and there's nobody else. And if there was, we wouldn't see them anyway. Because it's you and it's me and there's nobody else, nobody else. I'm closing my eyes as you pull me in to you. I laugh, that laugh I laugh that you love. Your hands on my lower back, and it arches as I stretch my neck up to reach my lips to yours, my heels almost come off the ground and you lean forward and your chest gently presses down in to me. I kiss you. I really kiss you. I kiss you like a stranger. I kiss you like a longtime lover. I kiss you like it's my last kiss in the world. I sling my arm up over your shoulder and rest my hand on the back of your neck. Fast playful biting kisses that turn slow and synced. Our lips part just enough for me to brush my tongue against yours. It instantly sends a shiver down my spine and the little hairs on the back of my neck rise up. I take in a sharp breath of air, and as I exhale, I melt into you. I melt into you.
