โ SOLAR - 25 YEARS OLD - HE/HIM/IT/ITS - WHITE - GENDERQUEER TRANS MAN (TME) - PANSEXUAL - AMBIAMOROUS (CLOSED) - AUTISTIC - THERIAN (DOG THERIOTYPE) โ
Hey there! You can call me Solar. I'm a hobbyist artist, an occasional writer and a tired dogthing furry bastard who's had the misfortune of being on this website since 2014. You might've known me by one of my old usernames. In order I've went by flurriedphoenix -> dandy-dog -> bitzerthing ๐ถ๐ My blog isn't a dedicated NSFW blog but it is suggestive. I often reblog posts with tongue-in-cheek dirty humour and art depicting artistic nudity. I also occasionally reblog informational posts about sex and kink because I feel they're important. If you're a minor or somebody who doesn't want to see that? Then you shouldn't follow this blog. Want to know more about me or about this blog? You can find an FAQ under the cut. It's long because it's intended to be as thorough as I can make it, so be fair warned if you're not a fan of reading long posts โ๏ธ
The dividers in this post were made by @chocoperrito and you can find them here!
ใ WHAT'S THIS BLOG ABOUT?
Anything and everything goes here, it's a total free-for-all with no one specific theme. This is my main blog so it's generally just a mish mash of all sorts that I feel like sharing. Think of it like a digital scrapbook. You can mostly expect to see art, writing, posts that reflect my interests or political opinions, fan works of different media that I like, posts about the furry fandom and various nonsense shitposts. It's largely reblogs. I'll often reblog stuff I've reblogged before; Sometimes I've forgotten I've reblogged it but most of the time it's a deliberate choice. Posts don't have a shelf life and I actively want to work against that perception, so I'll reblog stuff as many times as I feel like. I may also occasionally post my own art here or post my own thoughts directly on different things in the form of text posts. But it's rare, admittedly.
ใ WHAT ARE YOU INTERESTED IN?
I've got a lot of interests! I find a lot of different things neat and my focus switches between different interests a lot. To name a few of the consistent ones though? I like art, writing, reading, poetry, photography, radio, technology, filmmaking, animation, video games, RPGs, 3D platformers, folk punk music, ska music, 80 and 90s visual aesthetics, bright colours, thrifting, kitsch, antiques, tacky button-up shirts, animatronics, toy restoration, upcycling, xenofiction, medieval fantasy, lost media, queer history, TV history, film history, early internet history, furry history, cooking, horror movies, folklore, cryptids, musicals, storytelling, worldbuilding, history, sociology, philosophy, archaeology, animals, bugs and space.
ใ SO, YOU'RE QUEER. WHAT'S THE DEAL THERE?
I'm a genderqueer trans man. I go by he/him and it/its pronouns. I mostly use conventionally masculine nouns (man, boy, guy, dude, etc) or ambiguous nouns (thing, mutt, dog; I like when they're dog-related) to refer to myself. You can use any of the above but use my pronouns interchangeably, please and thank you. I came out in 2022 after being closeted for four years and being in denial about my gender for much longer than that. I'm perisex, transmisogyny exempt, non-passing and socially transitioned. I am not medically transitioned although I am working towards it; I want to undergo masculinizing HRT and top surgery. I'm currently on the fence about bottom surgery but I'm considering getting phalloplasty. I interchangeably call myself pansexual, bisexual or queer when referring to my sexuality. Gender and sex are both pretty incidental when it comes to who I'm attracted to, I don't have any preference. They're both social constructs and they don't consciously factor in when it comes to whether or not I'm attracted to someone. I tend to default to calling myself pansexual just because it's what I've called myself for a long while now, but I'm personally not picky about which of the three you call me. I know some people are more particular about the distinction and that's completely okay. I'm just not personally bothered when it comes to myself and how I identify. I'm ambiamorous. I'm comfortable in both monogamous and polyamorous relationships. That said, polyamorous is already used as an umbrella term in a lot of contexts anyway and I've found people tend not to know what the term ambiamorous means, so I sometimes just refer to myself as polyam as a catchall for sake of ease. I'm currently in a closed relationship. Also, to clarify, I know that I don't owe anyone elaboration on my identity. I'm talking about this purely because I'd personally like to, I'd prefer to be open about it. I hope it goes without saying but for my peace of mind I will say as much: Just because I'm comfortable talking about it doesn't mean other people will be and you should respect that. Don't badger other queer people about the ins and outs of their identity and especially do not ask trans people intimate details about their body without their consent.
ใ DO YOU HAVE A DNI OR BYF?
Nope, I don't have a DNI. I find them superfluous. I can just block people to curate my own spaces, I did that when I had a DNI and I can do it just as easily without one. I block whoever I need to for my own comfort and I recommend you do the same! That said, everyone has a right to be informed about what they're getting themselves into so I won't be obtuse. Consider the following a BYF for your own reference: I'm some flavour of anarchocommunist with several associated views that you might expect to come with that. I'm antifascist, anticapitalist, anticolonialist, a prison abolitionist, a border abolitionist, a police abolitionist, anti-rascist, a transfeminist, pro-disability rights, pro-sex positivity, anti-queer exclusion and anti-censorship amongst other things. Or rather, these are the ideals I aspire to and try to put forward into the world. I don't say this to flex some kind of moral superiority and none of these views make me immune to mistakes or criticism. No matter how hard I try to deconstruct my own biases, I am not immutable and I won't pretend to be. I say this because regardless as to how well I articulate or embody them, I'm still passionate about these things and I don't intend on hiding that. I'm also a weird furry who is endeared by weird furry bullshit. I like affectionately joking about the niche kinky microcosms of the furry fandom, usually via reblogging thinly-veiled kinky shitposts from other furries. Not necessarily because I'm into all of it (though I am into some of it) but mostly because I just find furry expressions of sexuality and identity to be neat. Furry freaks are my friends :) I generally avoid engaging directly with online discourse. I used to and I found not much constructive came from it. It just got me frustrated in ways I struggled to regulate which became a disservice to my mental health overall. I'll state my opinions on things and reblog posts that reflect those opinions but I'd far rather pick my battles. If you disagree with something I've said and you genuinely want to talk about it? Message me privately. If you try to incite anything in a public forum or assume my intentions in bad faith? Then I won't be indulging you, I'll just block you. Approach me with a sincere want to engage or don't approach me at all. There are posts here that will reflect all of the above, so if any of that bothers you then this is your chance to leave. I've given you the information to figure out if you want to continue forward, it's up to you to curate your own experience from here.
ใ WHAT ABOUT A TAGLIST?
Not yet but I'm slowly working on it. In the meantime? Here's what you mainly need to know: You can find my talking and general shitposts under solar talks, or my art under dog draws. Yeah, the tags are a tad inconsistent. I might go back and change that at some point but they do their job for now. I do have content warning tags. I try to be conscientious and tag anything that I know is a common trigger (blood, gore, bones, insects, spiders, clowns, bright colours, etc) as and where I can. That said? I do forget sometimes so don't hesitate to remind me if you notice something that should be tagged. I can be empty-minded when it comes to that kind of thing because I tend not to need content warnings myself, so it's not often at the forefront of my mind. I format all of my content warning tags as "cw //" and then whatever the content of the post is that needs tagged. So for example, if you don't want to see insects? You can blacklist them on my blog using cw // insects and that should stop you from seeing anything with a number of legs that you aren't comfortable with. This same format applies to ALL of my content warning tags. If there's anything more specific you need tagged? Don't be afraid to let me know. I'm happy to accommodate you wherever you need! If it's something that triggers you? Then it warrants being taken seriously. No matter what it is.
ใ CAN I SHOOT YOU A DM? WHAT ABOUT ASKS?
Of course, go for it! I enjoy talking to people and getting to know them, especially my mutuals. If you message me or shoot me an ask? There's a good chance I'll respond. If there's a gap in replies or I don't respond? Please try not to worry. It's most likely not because of you, I just get fatigued easily by social interaction and I struggle with generalized anxiety so I have a habit of overthinking my responses sometimes. Between that, work and general life commitments? It can take me some time to respond. I promise I'll get back to you as soon as I can!
ใ WHAT IS THE "BELOVED RAT TAG" FOR?
This has been asked a few times. That's the tag I add to posts I want my girlfriend to see! If you see me reblog and tag something from you with "beloved rat tag"? That's why. We both have Tumblr blogs but I find the mention feature on Tumblr can be pretty repetitive, so I thought making her a tag would make things smoother. I usually add it to posts I think will make her smile, posts that remind me of her or posts that remind me of different original characters we've written together. Her Tumblr user is @plague-rat-judas, hence the name ๐ Since people have asked, you are allowed to browse those posts! Feel free to take a look for yourself and enjoy what's there, I'm not a cop! Just because I've tagged them for her doesn't mean that they're intended to be private. if I wanted them to be 100% private I would have just privated them. Just don't be surprised if you see a lot of inside jokes in the tags.
ใ WHO'S THE DOG IN YOUR ICON?
That would be my fursona, Circuit! He is me, I am him, I love showing him off to people. He's usually the face of my online pressence so you'll see him in my icons, banners and the like. Here's his (slightly outdated) 2022 reference sheet, drawn by me:
If you're curious, the art of him I have as my current Tumblr icon was a commission I got. It was drawn by Pawtastic!
ใ WOW, YOU TALK A LOT.
Sure do. Thank you for noticing! Want to hear me talk more? Then I have some sideblogs that you can check out if you feel like it: fuzzypath is my Warriors sideblog. It's centered around the xenofiction book series by Erin Hunter. The books are garbage. They've also had me in a special interest stranglehold since 2011, so. Things get reblogged there regularly. funky-fella is my Bugsnax sideblog. It's dedicated to the 2020 video game by Young Horses. I didn't expect to be so transfixed by brightly coloured trauma muppets but here we are. I reblog things there on occasion. canid-canon is my writing sideblog. It's where I reblog writing resources for my own reference, as well as post my own bits of writing, prompts and prose that I feel like shooting into the void. It's currently inactive while I work on an organisation system for it. I also have a NSFW sideblog dedicated to horny posts. If you'd like to see it? DM me and ask for it. I'll most likely give it to you, providing you're an adult. I'd just prefer to bottleneck access to it for my own comfort, rather than have anyone be able to find it of their own accord.
