So we all know that in canon angara don’t talk about sickness but what if instead there’s a high emphasis on making sure people are taking care of themselves

Like getting enough sleep is super ingrained in their culture, like jobs that begin in the early mornings aren’t a thing, and most angara will nap during the day and some smaller daars will even shut down midday when people nap. And no one questions sleeping in or taking naps whenever

Then it hit me: I was only thinking about terrestrial meat sources. I forgot about fish!

In ME1, Garrus mentions that Virmire reminds him of where he grew up on Palaven. Shallow inlets, easily wadeable, and full of sea life. And that sort of environment could be very common on Palaven, for all we know. I think turian mouth structure makes a lot more sense for a generalist-piscivore. Those sharp needle teeth, with no serration, no backwards-hook: on earth, those sort of teeth are found on creatures like gar or gharial: piscivores, who use those needles to hold fish in place long enough to swallow them. The mandibles could also assist in catching swimming aquatic food. opening the mandibles quickly would create a low pressure zone inside the mouth, sucking prey in. The mandibles close, the teeth bite down, and the gaps allow the water to drain from the mouth before swallowing. I can imagine the immediate evolutionary ancestors of the turians having behaviors of both wading birds and shellfish-hunting mammals like raccoons. They use their long legs to wade in shallow bodies of water, using their claws to find and break open slow-moving hard-shelled prey (mollusc and crustacean analogues) and using their mouths to suck up fast-swimming unarmored fish analogues.
