David Jienâs Recent Futuristic Visions
David Jienâs recent work blends both futuristic and fantastical visions, with the artistâs usual eye for detail. While his creatures may recall sci-fi storybooks, thereâs humorous and disconcerting notes hidden in the corners. More

Hilda Palafox (Mexico, 1982). Her work includes painting, drawing, ceramics, and textiles.
"Hidden in her strokes, the mystery of the feminine is balanced with the symbolism of the physical, emotional, and spiritual state; she explores the body as matter with the ability to mold itself. Her use of the figurative focuses on the female figure as a tool of expression." https://www.proyectosmonclova.com/artists/hilda-palafox
âA womanâs braid, for me, has a very powerful meaning,â says Hilda Palafox. âIt symbolizes the fact of connecting, building, recognizing, changing, and strengthening. And I consider the act of braiding as something very intimate, very personal, and universal at the same time.â

Hilda Palafoxâs âUn dĂa a la vez.â
On view beginning October 16th, 2021 at Thinkspace Projects in Los Angeles, California is artist Hilda Palafoxâs solo exhibition, âUn dĂa a la vez.â
The female body inspires Hilda Palafoxâs work as the central element. Her images present a fresh look at the traditional representation of the female body in Western art. The shapes, colors, and textures seem to embody Latin American women, radiant colors, robust silhouettes, dark skin, and monumental bodies whose edges intermingle with the spaces containing them. Her work is inspired by the mystery of the feminine, in the meaning of its physical, emotional, and spiritual state. An exploration of the visible body as shapeless matter willing to mold itself. Her images investigate the autonomy of the figure, the independence of composition, and freedom of color.
