U kno it’s kind of a bummer that so much of gender identity, being trans, transitioning, etc is so fixated on pain and viewing your body as something wrong to be fixed.

Like obviously a sign of trans-ness is the sense that something is incongruent, but I wonder what our community could be like if transitioning was more about pursuing joy than it is about “correcting” the body using various, invasive medical procedures (which subsequently puts your body under systemic surveillance) and working to match a restrictive binary.

Not dunking on gender affirming medicine and medical transitions, per se. But dunking on the idea that healthy identities can grow out of pain, trauma, self judgement, over identification w pathology, and institutionalization.
