hello everyone. this is exactly what it says on the tin. but i would like to say these are My All Timers. i absolutely have more recs beyond this list and may make another one with those in the future, but these are the ones that capture what i enjoy most in richiecarts and their dynamic. these arent really like… general richiecarts fic recs these appeal very specifically to me. that doesnt mean i think you all wont like them i just want that put out there. also a good number of these i would consider all time fics ive read like Ever. beautiful things happening over on the richiecarts tag

this 2012 livejournal primer that covers the juniors years, the flyers years, and the trades (posted immediately after carter went to the kings. deeply unfortunate title now)
this 2015 for the win article written directly after richards cleared waivers and went to the manchester monarchs. not very detailed but gives an overview of everything up until january 2015 and mostly functions (to me) as an interesting archive of public regard of this whole thing at the time.
for after richie going to the monarchs the end of mike’s tenure with the kings and his career the following year, you can find an overview on his wikipedia page (lol) and an overview of the remainder of jeff’s career on his wikipedia page

OKAY NOW INTO THE ACTUAL RECS #mybad
Hockey at the End of the World series by ionthesparrow, 383k. parts 1-3 are a dystopian retelling of essentially their entire relationship: post-draft/pre-flyers (part 1), flyers era (part 2), post trade and 2011-2012 season (part 3). continues world building beyond that into the 244k final installment. that one is less richiecarts but its awesome and tyler toffoli is #mypresident. i cannot describe how good this series is its genuinely lifechanging.
Undoing by gigantic, 36k. jeff is a demon and a fugitive from hell. him and mike are obsessed with each other. set during the flyers era and early kings era. really really love their characterizations and the tone/writing style.
Bush League by Dark_Eyed_Junco, 37k. au. jeff is the coach of an independent hockey team in the rural midwest. 20 year old mike shows up to play. age difference and really interesting perspective on mike. To me.
The Tools of Ignorance by Dark_Eyed_Junco, 18k. wont explain too much but theres magic and the los angeles dodgers and the things mike and jeff do to each other.
The Last Girl in the World by ionthesparrow, 9k. transmasc mike gets de-aged to pre-transition. this is so incredible and visceral. deeply personal for me also.
Friction Hitch by lightgetsin, 3k. this one’s kind of just bondage porn but an incredible look into their dynamic i think.
Ride Your Chrome Horse by ionthesparrow, au. 2.5k. richie’s a trucker. carts works at a truck stop diner. idk i like it.
Careful Fear and Dead Devotion by othersideofthis (hikaru), 9k. established relationship set during the time mike was put on waivers. so much love between them here. also tytoff and arnold the dog.
heat check by jolach, 3.8k. set during the 2024 flyers alumni game mike was in attendance of right after jamie drysdale came to the flyers. mike meets trevor zegras. an all timer
the year I got you alone by Lake (beyond_belief) non chronological, covers most of the playing years with a specific focus on world juniors 2005. jeff is weird about mike.
just a general point not all of these are always happy and the relationship is not always healthy and sometimes things are ambiguous. thats my thing. as previously stated i have more bookmarks with different vibes i may post at some point.
not including all the years you were mine because i havent been able to read it yet but its considered an all timer by trusted oomf so i thought id mention.
