Hi! my process for a picture like the Valkyrie goes a little like this

then either flat colors 

or modelling 

depending on how i feel. It’s essentially a greyscale but even if I have done the modelling in black i edit it to some other color. this one’s a desaturated purple.

here’s the modelling on multiply over the flats. after that looks how i want it to look (and i work on the background intermittently because I can never focus on things to work in a straightforward progression) i’ll fuse the layers and do some painting on it, add scales on another layer, work on the wing membrane, edit shadows, etc.

GOOD GUY ADOBE releases the ENTIRE CS2 SUITE. FOR FREE.

That means free access to Photoshop CS2 - and that already has most of what you could ask for, really.

All you have to do is create a FREE ADOBE ID.

The cs2 programs date back only a few years, and still have much of the functionality of today’s more modern ones. The differences between most of the versions are little more than slight modifications or additions of minor features, and UI changes. Go for it guys!!
