WILLIAM ROOK. 28. CIS MAN. HE/HIM is here! They’ve lived in Cascade for 6 MONTHS and currently reside in MERCURY FLATS. BILLY is an AUTO MECHANIC and frequently hears that they look a lot like AUSTIN BUTLER. Funny, huh? If ever caught by Letterboxd, they’d say THE OUTSIDERS is in their Top 4 and the theme song to their life’s soundtrack would be ROCK OF AGES by DEF LEPPARD.

BACKSTORY.
Trigger Warnings: Abuse, violence
Grew up with next to nothing, and a dad who was angry about their socioeconomic class. His dad had a bad tendency towards taking that anger out on his wife and kids. Billy was still pretty young when he started stepping towards his dad any time he was in one his moods, all in an effort to stop his sisters and mom from getting abused, starting a trend of protecting the innocent and defenseless that would continue throughout his life.
When Billy was 16, he finally managed to land a swing back on his old man. Broke his dad's nose and sent him packing, never to come back. His mother, abused though she'd been, blamed Billy for her husband leaving, and hated him for it. Without his dad around to make money, it fell to Billy to do it. In truth, he probably would have had to drop out of high school if it weren't for his high school hockey coach, whose brother owned and operated an auto shop. His coach was able to get Billy a job there, since of the two worthwhile things his dad had ever taught him was how to work on cars; the other was a love for hard rock and heavy metal.
He struggled to manage school, hockey, playing in a band, and working to support his mom and sisters, but he did manage to graduate (albeit a year late because of his schedule) with respectable grades. He was surprised when he was offered a scholarship to attend Michigan State University and play hockey for them. He'd always thought college was out of the question for him, but now he had a way, and beyond that, he also had what he was told by a college scout was a reasonable chance at making it to the NHL as a third or fourth round pick if he continued to develop his game during his college years.
Though Billy did end up getting drafted and played a few years in the NHL, he was never high on the depth chart, and soon found his time playing professional hockey was over. Still, he didn't take the loss of it too hard, since, really, he had always known there was a chance this was the way it would turn out. He'd made enough money to live pretty comfortably for a good while, and he spent a couple years just travelling around the country and living his life to the fullest while he tried to figure out exactly where he wanted to land. It was during all this travel that he first found his way to Cascade, and after spending some time there, he knew it was where he wanted to come once he was ready to put down roots. So, once most of his hockey money had run out, that's exactly what he did, buying an old garage in Mercury Flats with an apartment above it. It was the perfect place for him to be able to work on cars and bikes, and play his music in peace.
Billy is what I would call a good natured rascal. He has always been pretty rambunctious and rowdy, and has always liked to get into trouble, but he's never been the type to pick on someone, knowing what it's like to be in that position all too well. In his younger days and all through college he loved getting into fights, and would look for any excuse he could find to do so, but those excuses were always things like "this guy won't stop hitting on this girl even though she's told him to leave her alone several times" or "that guy is being an asshole to some other guy who is just minding his own business" or "that guy is being a piece of shit to his girlfriend and needs some sense beaten into him." These days, he's grown up and calmed down some and doesn't really go looking for fights as much anymore, but that doesn't mean he won't still happily step in and defend someone, and throw hands if it's necessary.
Billy loves three things more than anything in the world: hockey, rock and heavy metal music, and working on cars and bikes. He can talk about any of these things for hours, though chances are he probably wouldn't; he's not really much of a chatterbox. He's pretty guarded emotionally because of his upbringing and the lack of love and affection in his home. This doesn't mean he doesn't love people in his life, it just means he's rarely forthcoming about how he's feeling. Still, if he loves, or even likes you, he'll die for you. That is absolutely another situation where he'll still gladly throwdown, is on behalf of someone he cares about.
